This is the second time I have stayed here.
It certainly is good value at only 63 Euro for single room and breakfast, but I'm afraid they have lot to learn about customer service.
If you're not affected by that, or you don't mind staff completely ignoring you when you say hello, it's a reasonable deal.

Pros: friendly staff, good breakfast, nice outdoor patio, free wi-fi, reasonable price.

Cons: We unfortunately were there on two incredibly hot days (90 F) and with only a fan in the room, it was miserable. Check the weather in the summer before coming. There are not many AC hotels in Salzburg in this price range. The rooms seem to vary widely - not unusual in converted homes. Ours was big enough but had a very cramped bathroom - too small for an average sized American man to enjoy the shower or close the toilet door. Rug needs a cleaning badly.

Take Bob's tours. We luckily were the only ones in the van and had a wonderful private Sound of Music tour. Very personalized. There is a bus stop in the street outside this hotel that goes right into the city center if you tire of the walk. The funicular ride up to the castle yields fantastic views and several good restaurants to choose from. The cemetery is also worth a view.

I was sent here from another Hotel as they were full, very nice surpise for us again in this great town. The Lasserhof is a great place to stay. Close to the train station, close to the center, clean, nice rooms, great breakfast and all the rest you can think of was good. The hotel is small, 30 or 35 rooms, we felt like at home, good for the kids.

This pace was nice, but was hard for us to find on our own. We finally took a taxi from the train station and got there in about 10 mins. Inside is a little old, but that is to be expected. Room was large and comfortable. Nice balcony, but not much of a view. Elevator was scary, but it is an old building. Breakfast was the best . Nice selection of meats, cheeses, and cereals. About a 15 min. walk to the old center of town. So not very convenient, but doable. Very friendly staff! They even washed all our clothes for only 10E.
The internet worked great! I would recommend this place!

Hotel Lasserhof is a short walk from the central train and bus station (10- 15 min) and also a short walk to the old town. Also 10- 15 minutes and it was a nice walk downtown. We would stay here again if we returned to Salzburg. The breakfast was good and our room and bathroom were nice. They were both clean. We didn't talk to the front desk or breakfast folks much, so I couldn't comment much on the service. We didn't have any complaints, though.

Only stayed in Salzburg for two nights and needed somewhere within walking distance of the train station. From the outside the hotel didn't look so fantastic and very plain but turned out to be really quaint with very clean rooms and new and very clean bathroom. Breakfast was a self service buffet in a really cute room with a super selection of cheeses, eggs, jams, breads, fruit teas and great coffee. We only needd a light snack for lunch as breakfast was really substantial. Walkng distance to the train station was less than five minutes and only about ten minutes walk into the centre of Salzburg. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Salzburg is not hopping with tourists at the benning of April so it was great to walk around the town and not be surrounded by hundreds of tourists. A must see is Mozart's birthplace and living quarters which are in two different buildings, buy the ticket for the entracne fee for both musuems, really worthwhile. Fascinating museums and on the way out of his birthplace you have to have lunch in the little restaurant that you walk by on the way to the exit. Really good food and inexpensive. They do set lunches with home made soups etc so well worth eating there. We had to walk up to the Fortress as the funicular hadn't started running yet but it was well worth it although one cannot see a view over the alps on the otherside.
