“Great Breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2012

A nice hotel, good location. Excellent breakfast. Rooms are comfortable, although a little sparse and not wonderfully well designed. It would have been nice to have coffee available in the rooms. The spa area is very good and relaxing and tea and fruit available is a nice touch. The staff were generally very helpful if not super warm and fuzzy (this is a minor comment). Would definitely recommend it.

We have been to Hotel Auersperg during christmas season for the second time (first time 4 years ago) - I am from Salzburg and I liked to atmosphere and the welcome - which made me feel home. So we decided to come back again for Christmas 2011. But it`s not what it was before.
We noticed that the receiption was not as heartly and friendly as it was 4 years ago --- the austrian "scharm" was no longer there. The service is correct and there is no reason to complain - but service has become more standard, lacking this special "extra" that we experienced before.
This time we visited Salzburg with our baby son - and with a baby troller. And so we noticed how unsuitable the hotel is for baby troller or for wheel-chairs. Their seem to be stairs everywhere - when you enter, first 4 steps to climb. In order to get to the front desk - another 6 or 8 steps. Their is an elevator - getting out from the elevator some rooms are on the same level as the elevator`s exit - but in order to get to our room we had to climb another 4 or 5 steps. With a baby troller that became very annoying - for a wheelchair user that must be impossible. And remember, the first steps you have to cross are right after the entrance door - before you get to the belevator.

This hotel is located 2 blocks from the center of town and was conveniently located to everything. The room was huge-our adult son stayed with us in the villa and there was plenty of room for all 3 of us. The staff was extremely helpful and accomodating. The breakfast buffet was unbelievable. I can't say enough about this hotel.

We stayed at the Auersperg Hotel in Salzburg recently and were very happy with our choice. Being a couple of blocks from the centre of town made for gentle & easy walking before and after all the wonderful Austrian food! The hotel is supremely clean, private and the rooms are spacious with heating that is easily controlled. Having enjoyed Salzburg so much at the start of our holiday, we returned 3 weeks later before leaving Europe. Returning to the Auersperg Hotel was an easy choice! The healthy and bountiful breakfasts served by relaxed and helpful staff was a great start to the day. There is no evening dining although the small private lounge bar does serve some snacks which were plentiful. Thank you to everyone at the hotel.

The hotel is a real gem. The villa rooms are truly nice with a fantastic design decor with good lightning and all the perks (nice quality tea and nespresso, good books, nice bathroom with floor heating, a separate cloakroom, a tivoli radio, great quality bedding with a duvet). The breakfast is great with fresh juices, nice bread and all sorts of extras like organic yoghurt and carpe diem drinks. The location is also good, not far from the old town. We did not try the garden because it was winter but that also looks like a good place for the summer. Parking was convenient next to the hotel.

Room Tip: The villa rooms are great ( perhaps the ones in the hotel as well but we did not see them).

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2012 via mobile

Visited 3 nights beginning of March with my husband.

Very easy to find with a little help from a map....took no 2 bus from airport (€2.10 each), got off at stop Wolf Dietrich Str, hotel literally just up the road.

Very warm welcome from reception staff. First impressions very good.

We were allocated room 373...... Very pleased with the room. Dual aspect, 2 windows to the front and French doors leading to a small balcony to the side (balcony out of use during our visit though)......thus making the room very light and airy. Wooden flooring, separate walk in wardrobe with floor to ceiling mirrors, enough storage space for a months worth of clothing, safe (very easy to use), modern, clean and very well lit bathroom, excellent shower, separate toilet (nice touch), usual toiletries, writing desk and chair, separate sofa and coffee table (looked like it could be a sofa bed), and a funky chair that could quite easily have come from the 'big brother house', large king size bed, with 2 single luxury duvets and cloud like pillows......all in all a very pleasant room.

Spa......what a great little hidden gem. An excellent sauna and steam room, both very hot. We were a little unnerved the first evening we went to use it, as it was full of naked Europeans ( I know it's their culture, but it shocked us a little). The second evening we were more mentally prepared and therefore enjoyed the experience a lot more. A very tranquil experience with lounging beds, candles and very subtle lighting..... The perfect way to enjoy a Sunday evening.

Breakfast......wonderful!!.....lots of selection of meats, breads, yogurts, fruit, cheese etc, and not a fry up in sight.....waitresses served u efficiently and friendly.

Location..... As mentioned previously by other reviewers, yes it's a 10min walk to the old town, but to us that's a bonus...it's a very straight forward route and gives you an opportunity to see some of the new town.

Top tip.....invest in a Salzburg card (€30 each for 48hrs), a must if your planning on visiting the fortress and Mozarts birthplace, residence and especially if your planning on visiting the mountains, untersberg cable car as that trip alone is €5 bus and €20 cable car......this card saved us a fortune.
Also Salzburg is a ghost town on a Sunday evening in March, very few restaurants open.

We ate in Wilder Mann restaurant on our first evening which was very authentic and very good value (best meal we had all weekend), we only wish we'd eaten there the next evening as well as we discovered it was closed on Sundays.

To sum it up ....we would definitely return to the Hotel Auersperg if in Salzburg in the future.

This place is wonderful. The staff were excellent and very helpful to our needs. Booked in advance and told them we were coming with our Jack Russell, Thor. When we came into our room there was a dog bowl, bed, and some towels waiting for him. Our room had a very nice balcony overlooking the garden. We were there after Christmas so could not use the balcony, but we will hopefully return someday in Spring or early Fall to enjoy Auersperg again. The hotel is within about 10 minutes easy walk from The Old City Center. An easy walk from the train station as well. Breakfast buffet was very very good with plenty of choices. We highly recommend this place to anyone coming to beautiful Salzburg.

Room Tip: Get one with a balcony overlooking the garden
