“Historic Luxury Opposite Mozart's Apartment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

We had interconnecting suite rooms at the front of the hotel overlooking the Markatplatz and Mozart's apartment which is a quaint museum now and worth a visit. The rooms were grand with high ceilings and classical furnishings. Being a historic building the floor boards did creak a bit but it wasn't a major issue. It is right next door to the Holy Trinity Church whose bells chime at 7am which can be an unwanted alarm clock at times. Breakfast was extensive and the staff exceptional. The restaurant is slightly expensive but it comes with silver service and is in a beautiful Crystal room. Overall we had an exceptional stay at this hotel that complemented the beautiful city that Salzburg is.

The Hotel Bristol is located in a great location - cross the bridge and you are in the Altstadt with many shops, cafes and restaurants to choose from. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Our specific room was a bit small but very clean. Breakfast was plentiful. Would definitely stay here again.

We spent two nights at Hotel Bristol. The room was clean and comfortable with an excellent bathroom, and the location is excellent if you don't want to stay outside of the old city, but remain within walking distance of all the main sites. My only complaint, which sounds petty, is that the reception staff seemed to prefer answering the phone than dealing with the people in front of them; it wasn't a one-off and didn't only happen (repeatedly) to me.

The Bristol is a great stay, it is really close to the old town, the river and the remaining Salzburg landmarks. We stayed on the 4th floor, at the front and what a view in the morning. Breakfasts are the usual high quality you would find in any good 4/5* but with a Euro twist (cheese and ham). The bar is nice, and we couldn't fault it. The rooms are well appointed.

Room Tip: Stay at the front

The Bristol manages the trick of being quite grand but still feels run by the family. The staff were charming and very helpful. Our room was beautifully decorated and had a great view of the castle. The location is good because you are away from the cramped Old Town but not too far. The short walk across the footbridge to the Old Town is a pleasure and the view is magical, especially at night when the snow has fallen.
The restaurant is very good and allow plenty of time to enjoy the huge range of goodies at breakfast.

Room Tip: It's worth paying for a room at the front to get a good view of the castle.

Just returned from our stay at this Hotel just before Christmas - Excellent location for my 85 year old Mum who could easily walk to the Christmas markets just over the bridge- Many thanks to Christine who treated her like Royalty ! - We had a room on the front which was wonderful and not noisy at all and she had the single room Juliet which she loved - heated bathroom worktop !Loved the lift and the large double doors on the rooms, all very comfortable and welcoming. The bar / lounge area was nice to sit and relax and have a drink in the evening - They did still allow smoking the one end which was a shame, I really wish they would just ban this in all indoor places in Austria. However- this isn't a criticism of the Hotel Bristol, as you could sit away from this. Excellent breakfast, great stay - Thank you - we will return!

We have just returned from Salzburg (our 2nd trip of the year there) and this time we stayed at the Hotel Bristol purely down to the reviews on tripadvisor. Well the reviews were right, it's excellent!
We got upgraded to the Russian Room and we looked out over the front of the hotel (which I worried would be noisy) but it wasn't and the room great, large, spacious, and the facilties were top class.
The lifts are the quirkiest thing I've ever seen. On the first night we ate in the hotel restuarant (we had actualy wanted to go out to eat but everywhere was full!) and the food although quite expensive (20+ something euro's for a main) it was amazing, definately reflected the 5* standard of the hotel. I had the soup to start and my husband had the lobster bisque that had big chunks of lobster in it too. For main I had a pasta dish and my husband had the Venison which looked and tasted amazing. The chef brought us out a sample dish before our starter of raw frog fish (monkfish to you and me) which was beautiful and a nice treat!
The breakfast in the morning that was served in a beautiful room covered in chandeliers was excellent (as other reviewers have stated)
The ONLY let down and it's only a tiny thing is that the room didn't have any coffee/tea facilities. We did go down to the bar for various hot chocolates and tea but at nearly 9 euros a time for two cups it was a bit of an expensive treat! Maybe I'm just getting old but thought tea/coffee facilities in the room would have been amazing!

Room Tip: We had the russian room on the 2nd floor, it was great!
