“Great location, comfortable room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

I stayed here for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the outstanding location. You can walk to all of the tourist sights in Salzburg from here, most are just steps from the front door. The hotel is on a cute street in the pedestrian only area of old town. My room was on the second floor and had a nice sitting area and comfortable bed. I slept well and the breakfast was great.

The people at the reception were helpful but they could have been a bit more welcoming - I felt as though I was bothering them every time I asked a question.

The taxis can drive right up to the hotel, at least in the off season, even though it is in the pedestrian area.

Choose this hotel for the location and good size guestrooms.

We stayed here for 2 nights in September 2013. We arrived at 11:00 am and were fortunate to be able to check into our room right away. Room was big, very comfortable beds, huge closet space with lots of storage. We were in room 207, facing the street, it was very quite, did not notice any street noise at all. Bathroom was also very nice. Loved having the heated towel bar. The staff was very friendly, and gave great recommendations for dinner and assistance on directions. Breakfast was so good, huge selections of fruit, meat, cheeses, cereals, yogurts, breads and juices. Would absolutely stay here again.

I stayed week here for the Salzburg Summer Festival which meant of course a hefty seasonal surcharge, but that’s the same everywhere at this time. However I was offered top floor executive room which was fantastic and enormous, with an ante-room for wardrobe etc. and ample room to store luggage, bathroom with bath and a huge bed/living room; the whole thing was larger than a standard one-bedroom apartment. Even looking onto the semi-pedestrianized street it was quite and the air con worked a charm. The breakfast was basic – nothing was cooked to order but what was on offer was more than adequate for the task. The property is very old – I saw a beam on one of the floors dated 1216 or thereabouts – but facilities are all excellent. The place is small and hard to get into but I wouldn’t want to say anywhere else, especially if visiting outside of festival dates when room rates are far more manageable.

Room Tip: An executive room is worth the cost for the extra space

we stayed 2 nights at this hotel. Very clean and rooms are large for europe. The continental /hot breakfast is first class. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpfull. The entrance to hotel is through a pedestrian zone - you can drive your car through there - unload - and the reception will tell you directions to the car park. The possition of the hotel is perfect - right in the center of the historic city. The staff at the hotel also helped us to arrange a tour of the city
All rooms have wi-fi.

We arrived by taxi from the train station and the trip prepares you for the excellent location of the hotel. The reception was friendly, though easily distracted, and we were very happy to obtain an early check-in. The furnishings in our room had obviously seen better days but the bathroom was large and updated. We had no luck with the included Wi-Fi but didn’t waste much time fooling with it. Breakfast was a welcome treat (bacon and eggs) and the attached restaurant was convenient but fell short in selection and service. However the ability to walk almost anywhere in the old town in minutes makes up for any minor glitches.

This is a charming, well run hotel in the center of Old Town Salzburg. The breakfast buffet was ample and fine. The sitting rooms on each floor and the TV room were handsomely decorated. The rooms have 2 sets of frames on the windows to block out the street noise as you are in the very center of the shops and sights of old town. We happen to be there during their September festival and were only a block and a half from all the festivities. Would not think of staying anywhere else in Salzburg.

Room Tip: Higher rooms would have less street noise but they have double, double panes on the windows to block...
