“Ideal family venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

This hotel is near to the rail station and has parking, although there is an €11/day charge for that; still cheaper than the public car park. A family room was a very good size corner suite. Food was good. Cleanliness great

Our stay here started out very negatively but ended positively!
We arrived in the morning on the bus and got off when we saw a "Best Western" sign, but noticed it said "Imlauer" and not "StieglBräu", which confused us. It WAS the right place though, and luckily we did not hop back on the bus! We asked to leave our luggage, which they allowed, and a young man found our booking and said "1 triple room" and we agreed and went about our day. We returned at 9 PM and a young woman was working. She told us they had a double and a single for us for the night, and the next day we had a triple. They said they had been saving the rooms all day for us, because apparently we had requested it that morning. We did no such thing, and had no paperwork or signatures to show it. The young lady, Petra, was working alone and was quite overwhelmed. Despite this, she resolved our issue after some discussion. We were upset that this happened in the first place, but glad it worked out. Unfortunately we had seen another customer having trouble as well, but knowing that kindness always pays, we didn't get angry, resulting in a solution!

The rooms were just fine, not as fancy as I had expected, but nice. Enjoyed having a bathtub after showers of hostels and cheaper accomodation! Breakfast was included which was nice. The trains are bit a noisy as it is near the station, but closing the windows seems to solve this problem. I would recommend this hotel. I also felt it was not 5 minutes walk to the train station, more like 10-15 depending on luggage and walking speed (and heat of the day!!). But there is a bus if you want to take it.

We stayed 2 nights in Salzburg on vacation in July 2012, travelling as 2 adults and 1 child. I booked this because it was only a few blocks from the train station. The hotel site says it's a 5 minute walk -- I walk quickly, and it was a good 10 minute walk, but nevertheless, very close and no need to take a taxi. Our room was spacious and clean. It consisted of one twin bed in one room and a double bed in another room. The price we had didn't include breakfast, so we paid the 12 euros/person. While it was a nice breakfast, it certainly wasn't worth 36 euros. However, dinner at the restaurant was delicious, hearty Austrian cuisine. I would happily stay at this hotel again.

Stayed at the Best Western, Stieglbrau while attending a conference at the convention centre. It is ideal for anyone doing the same as it's a 3-4 minute walk to the front door.
The hotel is well kept, clean and tidy. My room on the 5th floor overlooked the street at the front of the hotel but there was no real noise. The room was a good size, comfortable twin beds and nicely furnished. TV with CNN and BBC news for keeping up with the world. The bathroom with shower, all fine. The breakfast, buffet style, was hearty with plenty of choise.
Evening meals were lovely I had a fantastic steak and eating the beer garden made the heat more bearable. Bar closes at 12.00 most days, but walk across the road to another bar, open till 5.00am (so I was told). All in all, a nice hotel, with a little character, would use it again.

Recently we visited Salzburg as family from 3oth May - 3rd June. I have stayed in Salzburg many times before but this time, we wanted to try Best western property as suggested by one friend from Salzburg. So we booked this Hotel for 4 nights. We didn't know that it was just few meters away from station !! We took a cab and he was also surprised that we want a taxi for say 500 meters. Anyway, the room was small but neat and with a very good view, both of Rly station and mountains. Both these kept my son and me busy clicking photos of various trains. It is also near Mirabelle garden and most of the shops and old district. Shopping and sight seeing from this place was very convenient and always at a walking distance.Breakfast was excellent and well served , especially with a Garden cafe. I will be visiting Salzburg in future too, and now I can say I know exactly where to stay, it will always be Hotel Stiegel Brau of Best Western !!!

We stayed here four nights and really enjoyed it. The hotel is perfectly located, bus stop at the front door, seven minute walk from the station, five minutes to Mirrabell Palace and Gardens and a fifteen minute walk to the old town of Salzburg, all within walking distance.
The whole hotel was very clean and tidy. Our room was at the back of the hotel (402) and very quite.
The room was spacious and clean, included a mini bar, TV, tea/coffee making facilities, loads of wardrobe space, room to room phone, iron and ironing board on request.
The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming and could not help you enough, even when you were short of tea/coffee or any toiletries, it was not a problem. The hotel staff gave us maps and directions (very knowledgable) and they even booked tours for us.
The breakfast buffet was very good. There was a good selection; bacon, sausages, scrambled egg, cold meat, cheeses, breads, pastries, fruit, cereal, juice, tea (they even had English Breakfast tea which we found difficult to find in other places) and coffee, what more would you want, if you went hungry it was your fault.
We ate at the restaurant on two occasions and the food and service was excellent and the prices were reasonable.
Highly recommended.
