Description: The Nabucco is no Verdi opera. This restaurant which is in Salzburg (Mozart's birthplace) will serve you fine food - not music. It offers a selection of traditional Italian dishes, for a real culinary treat. The staff are young and dynamic. Does a glass of wine take your fancy? The Nabucco has an extensive selection of Austrian and Italian wines. The dining room is cosy and bright with its arched windows. The restaurant caters for romantic dinners for two, private parties and business lunches. John Cadmann and his staff will make sure you are well looked after. A presto!

“Tuscany in Salzburg”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

The second you walk into Nabucco, you forget you are in Salzburg and feel the warmth of Tuscany.
The owner greets you with a large smile, a nice platter of bruscheta while you marvel at the very authentic Tuscan dinner menu. There were 8 of us at the table, all of us very accustomed to fabulous Italian food from Lucca, and we all rejoiced with everything we ate. All pasta dishes were sublime, (especially the Carbonara) and I had one of the best sea basses of my life. It was presented in a way I had never seen before, covered with fresh roasted vegetables and olives, a dream in my plate. The homemade Tiramisu was exquisite. We couldn't wait to go back and did have lunch before leaving town. We sat under a giant white market umbrella in their backyard and cherished every bite of our meal.

“Nice, leisurely meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

We were seated outside in the pretty garden area as it was a warm night. Service was friendly and helpful, with staff making good recommendations. The food did not come out super speedily, but I wouldn't say service was slow- more leisurely, which was nice when on holiday. You certainly didn't feel rushed to finish your meal, even though people were being turned away as there was no room. The atmosphere was relaxed and charming, and the food was tasty and good. We were here for our wedding anniversary and were pleased with our choice. I would certainly recommend Nabucco.

We were told by some italian friends that when in Salzburg to visit "A litte gem of italian cooking"like Mamma used to make.!we were not disappointed the food was great spaghetti alle vongole a delight the right amount of heat to leave you waiting for the next course of italian sausage served on a bed of rugola with slivers of parmasan with a side dish of those wonderful fried potatoes that the italians do so well .the dessert that we chose was panna cotta with fresh berry sauce the tiraamisu was so light and creamy not like so many stodgy puds that you can find. The owner John so helpful and dedicated and so proud of his roots and was able to spend some time discussing about the wine that we had chosen. It was quite fun with a certain amount of banter and jokes in various languages (english austrian and italian)and the staff efficent and friendly all in all we had a truly wonderful meal and hope that "this little gem"will go from strength to strength Thank you John alla prossima !!!

“Unfriendly and Arrogant”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

It was pouring rain. We arrived 10 minutes before opening time without a reservation. The door was locked (we had hoped to wait inside out of the rain, and tried the door). An older person was reading a paper and the others were bustling around preparing to open up. They saw the 4 of us trying to avoid the rain with our umbrellas, but no one opened the door or asked us, for example, if we had a reservation. When they did open, it turned out that they were fully booked (our fault for not reserving), but when we mentioned our disappointment that they ignored us for 10 minutes standing out in the rain, they became very rude.

“Authentic Italian restaurant just off the beaten path”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

We walked into the restaurant for dinner on a Tue night without reservation and were lucky to still get a table (although it was in the smoking section). As the restaurant is located a short driving distance away from the old town of Salzburg, we only saw local customers and no other tourist except us in the restaurant, which immediately indicated to us that we were going to get a good Italian meal. Indeed, our pastas came out fantastic; very tasty with the right portion and not overwhelming like those you find in most run-of-the-mill touristy joints. The waitresses were extremely cheerful and friendly, which made the whole dinning experience enjoyable. The downside was that the smoking section was a bit unbearable for non-smokers like us, especially when we also have a kid with us. The restaurant also did not have a children menu.
