“Fantastic Funpark”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

I've been here twice - once by myself and once with my wife, and I really enjoyed it both times. Amazing mechanical machinery that runs the surprising water fountains. Nearly impossible not to get wet, but well worth it. It's set outside of Salzburg in a park setting with hiking trails.

“Guaranteed laughs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

The 250 bus on the return from Untersburg passes by Hellbrun, with the bus stop clearly announced and having the advantage of being the exact same stop to get the return to Salzburg as its a circular route. We, two adults, visited as we were near, it was hot and we had a Salzburg card. It is really good that the bus and entry is included in the card. The visit to the trick fountains is great fun, you do get a little wet (some more than a little) but on a sunny day it was great, a chance for grown ups to 'play' have fun and laugh. If you don't laugh I recommend you stay at home! The engineering involved at the time it was made makes it more astounding. The grounds are beautiful, you could easily spend a day, picnic, park etc and the Sound of Music gazebo.

“Great fun - take the kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

Thankfully we visited these gardens on a hot day so the guided tour of the fountains became great fun especially with families. The guide knew exactly when to operate the fountains and made this part of the tour very entertaining. If you don't want to get wet then watch for the drier bits of ground. The guide was also sympathetic to anyone with cameras etc and hinted as to where to get out of the way.
Getting there is easy enough - there are bus stops outside (single adult fare was 4.80 Euros) straight from Salzburg centre. Anyone with a wheelchair can get round the fountains - there was at least one wheelchair user when we went.
There's a good cafe in the courtyard - the ice cream is recommended.
I'm definitely not a Sound of Music fan but lots of people went to the pavilion where some of it was filmed and seemed to return satisfied. The gardens are not spectacular away from the fountains but this place is worth a morning or afternoon especially if you've children with you.

“Fun and easy to get to”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

If you have extra time, make sure to purchase a Salzburg Card from any news stand in town before you go. It covers all the main attractions in Salzburg and transportation. Well worth it!!! After visiting the fountains where you will get wet unless you stay close to the guide - head back on the bus and head over to the Untersberg cable car and take in a view of the city. Entire trip takes about 3-4 hours

“Fountains are terrific”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

The castle is interesting, and worth seeing, but the fountains on the property of Hellbrun are terrific. Definitely worth the bus ride or drive down the road on the outskirts of Salzburg.
