“Nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

I found this hotel to be very ordinary. They told us we could park the car in front of the hotel, but it was a side street adjacent to the hotel and very difficult to find a parking spot to unload our luggage! This hotel is in need of a refurbishment, it is looking a bit rough and worn around the edges. The breakfasts were good and the staff were ok. Our windows faced the internal open area of the hotel, consequently our room was a little dark and there was mould in the bathroom. Maybe a room facing the street would have more light and less mould. They do not have a beauty spa, but they recommended a spa on a street behind the hotel and gave me a brochure. I made an appointment and had some waxing done, the therapist was very rough, as she burnt and bruised my skin. I told the hotel that they should be careful recommending this day spa to their guests, as the brochures promoting it were in the foyer and in our rooms.

Regarding the mould we are constantly working room by room to get rid this problem. I am very gald to anounce that we will have renovated all our rooms within the upcoming 2 years, starting already in winter. We are also sorry to read that you where not satisfied with the spa service. We will contact them and carefully observe if their service is matching our high service standards. Acceptable hotel unless being close to old town is important to you - which it was for us as we were attending Feasival events. A solid 20 minute walk to venues or a 10 euro taxi ride needs to be taken into account. Breakfast was very good and stayed attractive over a nine night stay. Staff were mostly friendly but sometimes inexperienced. The beer cellar and garden offered moderately priced casual meals and we ate two good meals at the main restaurant - although everything closed between breakfast and lunch, so a mid-morning coffee was hard to come by. There is a good bar with limited light snacks in the evening. The free wifi in public areas was not satisfactory but the in-room service (3 euros an hour or 12 for 24 hours) worked extremely well. Overall a good choice if you want to be near the station or if being in the old town is not important to you

Room Tip: Rooms facing inwards are probably a better choice as the street ones can be noisy especially on lowe...

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review for your stay. We take your comments really serious and can tell you regarding the unexperienced staff members that we work togehter with a famous local tourism school. The students absolve practical months during summer in order to be graduated and nominated for the next class. This tradition helps us to provide a better service culture throughout Austria. Some of this young students are not experienced and we hope that you accept some mistakes that they made.
Thank you again for your time and we hope to welcome you back in Salzburg soon.

This is one great hotel. You can walk anywhere from here. Mirabelle gardens are a block away, the city center is about 15 minutes, public transpo is close (but you won't need it). The amenities are wonderful. They give you this spray to help you sleep and it really works. Food was good in the restaurant, staff was wonderful. If you want something, just ask and they will do their best to accomodate you.

A last minute decision to visit Salzburg from Germany led us to book the Crowne Plaza. As we are traveling with 4 adults, a child and 2 dogs, we needed to book 2 rooms and called to reserve vs booking online and were able to obtain online. We booked a junior suite and a regular room though if we had seen the regular room in advance, I think 2 regular rooms would've sufficed in terms of space. While the rooms were clean and orderly, the furnishings are worn and I think the hotel could use a facelift. The hotel location is very close to the Mirabell Palace & Gardens so it was very convenient, and our rate included a buffet breakfast. Wireless internet reception worked very sporadically in one of our rooms but we had no problems in the larger room. The biggest complaint we had is that the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night on our 1st night there and caused a huge ruckus. It ended up being a false alarm, but it woke up our son, who couldn't fall back asleep and was super cranky the entire next day (anyone who has a toddler knows how horrible it is to travel with a sleep deprived child!).

We arrived at the hotel having booked ourselves (a family of five) in for a three night stay. On arrival at the hotel the staff were rather abrupt but did what was asked of them. However the first problem occurred when it came to getting our rooms. We had booked two adjoining rooms and were told that this was not a possibility despite the fact that we had booked the room 6 months in advance. Due to the fact that we had just had a long day of travel we decided to take the rooms given to us which we were told were "right next to each other" however the rooms were actually separated by 3 doors. The actual rooms were of a fairly good standard and had everything you would expect however it was slightly outdated and it wouldn't hurt the hotel to give the general place a more modern touch. Cleaning of rooms in the hotel was also rather poor in terms of replacing sheets and towels as when we returned to our rooms these had not been done. While at the hotel we also tried to make use of the internet which at 12 euros per night was on the pricier side. However once we were in the rooms we could not gain access to the internet and despite going down to the desk and asking for assistance several times the problem was never sorted and we were refunded. The real gem in this hotel however is the restaurant. Although it is quite hidden away the "pitterkeller" had an excellent selection of food and at a reasonable price as well. However with regards to the breakfast this was not so good. The breakfast is served in another part of the hotel and for the 18 euros paid was in no way worth value for money. In terms of placement the hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the city centre and does offer valet parking if you wish to park for 25 euros per night. Overall the pitter is not a bad hotel but could do with several improvements to help make your stay more enjoyable.

While the Hotel is located quite close to the Mirabell Gardens and not really that far from Alstadt, the biggest problem with this hotel is that it has very very long corridors and it would take forever to get to your rooms, which were small and rather disappointing. For the price, this hotel was not that great.

A few good things - they had a porter/bell boy service, which is rather rare in Europe, inexpensive covered parking facility, again not usual for Salzburg, and an extensive Breakfast Menu which included continental items in addition to the Austrian-style-breakfast.

Room Tip: We had two rooms - one double and one triple. The double room was way too small. The triple was a de...

We stayed for five nights at the Salzburg Crowne Plaza. Being platinum Royal Ambassador in Priority club we got a pleasant upgrade to a junior suite. Being a city centre hotel we did not expect a view but were pleasantly surprised by the quietness from the streets below.
Breakfast was a usual fairly good buffet thst was always being replenished by attentive staff. There is a good selection of tes to make your own pot with.
The usual chamber maid was excellent and we noticed a substantial decline on her day of with the temp.
The Aircon could be better, I understand the engineers are aware of its shortcomings.
Bottled water and the hospitality tray were refurbished daily; excellent.
The location is good being close to all the city centre attractions and the gardens are a very short walk away. The buses stop very close to the hotel.
All the staff are very friendly and helpful although not always 100% accurate with information.
We would certainly recommend this Hotel for a similar type of Visit.
