“1st class accomodations next to Mirabell Gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2010

Check-in started with friendly conceirge and staff and was quick. We were upgraded to a Jr. Suite so no complaints there! This hotel has a new private lounge on the top floor that was added about a year ago; very nice perk to have as a result of Platinum status with Starwood. Again, staff was nice and very helpful with their suggestions where to visit.
Room was spacious, large tub and separate walkin shower; a perk that comes with the suite most likely.
Hotel is adjacent to the Mirabell Gardens and about 0.5km from the old town so very convenient and nice to be somewhat distant to the throngs of tourists packing the narrow steets. We took the Sound of Music tour; the pickup point was also conveniently located just 2-3 minutes from the hotel.
All in all, no complaints. We didn't use the hotel restaurants since the club lounge had everything we would have wanted.

My brother and i stayed here for a few days, and were sorry to leave. The desk attendents and concieriege were prolly the best i've had in a long time. Gave us honest recommendations on what to do, and when it started raining, stopped us and gave us different recs. Food, beer, shopping they helped with all. There is a hot and dry sauna, used both, and a pretty decent gym. i'd never been to austria, and the concieriege spent about a half hour with my brother and i helping map our excursions through the country and gave us bike, train and bus recs. Would absolutely recommend. Clean and in a great location, just over the bridge from augustiner.

We had a great experience at this hotel. The service was amazing, and I promised I'd mention some of their names on here - Christina, Corina, and I can't remember the other guy that works mornings and day - but they were great, and so were the rest of the front desk people/concierge's. They actually helped me get an upgrade at my next stay the Le Meridien in Munich.

The room was great - very comfortable beds, nice bathroom, and spacious. The location was fine, and we enjoyed the walk over to old town. The Mirabell Gardens are right next to the hotel, and the fingerlos restaurant around the corner was good for breakfast.

Down Side? If I had to say anything it would be the computers in the business center were slow, and the smoking area in the lobby kind of filtered into the non smoking area - As a non smoker, that was annoying.

Other than that, it was a great hotel, and as mentioned above, the staff was terrific.

First impression at the reception desk: staff is friendly, competent and corteous. But not only the staff at the reception desk acts very professionally, also all others do so. The room was very comfortable with park view (this is preferable); very quiet. The location of the hotel is near the city centre (10 minutes walk). Schloss Mirabell is even closer. Bus stops are very near. From the lounge on the 7th floor you can enjoy a wonderful view (Festung Hohensalzburg, Nonnberg, Mönchsberg). It is not always easy to get a parking place in the garage as it is a public one.

after coming to salzburg for a night last year we had to come back again. This time i carefully read all reviews and although we were very happy with the Mozart hotel i wanted to upgrade. so ended up choosing the sheraton. its in a great spot, close to train station and mirabell gardens, the city is pretty small so you can walk around everywhere. the hotel is very grand, really nice foyer and the rooms were a similar feel. the hotel restaraunt didnt appeal to us, quite a small menu and the bistro was closed both nights we were there. room service menu looked good but we didnt want to eat in the room. we had coffee and cocktails in the piano bar and was very relaxing, although it isnt cheap. not unexpected though! all in all a great hotel, perfectly positioned and would recommend

Good facilities throughout , once we had obtained a kettle and extra teabags - rooms only had american style coffee machines which do not boil water! Very helpful and friendly staff who recommended a lovely homely restaurant in a suburb across the river 10 min walk away. Very pleasant situation in which to stay with the gardens adjoining - better than staying in Old Town. Despite some pretty wet weather we found plenty to do both indoors and out. We found the breakfasts very large and expensive in restaurant -room service for one provided plenty for us both and was much better value.
