“Neat stop”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

The cathedral is much more impressive than the exterior would make you think it is. The dome and main alter are very cool. The organ i also very impressive. There is no fee to enter and they allow you to take photos as you wish.

“Beautiful but cold”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

The Cathedral is so big that it's very difficult to miss it. It is located in the center of the old town but has an unassuming facade. I visited on a Tuesday afternoon so, understandably, there were few people inside.
Like other Austrian churches, it is cold inside. I don't think the budget for heating is big plus it is all stone and the ceilings are high. But, as churches go, this is solemn and beautiful. There are 4 pipe organs near the altar at the crossing of the church and another big pipe organ at the back of the church.
The pews are all wood and intricately carved. There are many statues of saints but its patron saint is St. Rupert. The person at the entrance was like a tour guide, willing to explain to tourists. This church easily elicits "wows" specially from Catholics. Now if they could only do something about the heating.
