“Clean, comfortable with superb mountain views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2011

This Holiday Inn is situated about 15 minutes walk from the city centre. It is easy to get to and has free if limited parking.

The room was comfortable, modern and clean with ceiling to floor windows that looked out over the mountains a real plus.

This was a great place to stay for our family with two adjoining rooms. I wouldn't particularly recommend this for a romantic stay as it does lack character but then you wouldn't normally pick Holiday Inn for that sort of break anyway.

This is a great value for a hotel in Salzburg. Although the location is in the rather industrial "new town" area, well away from the old town, it merits a look if you can master the bus schedules and can afford the occasional taxi. After arriving shortly after Noon and well before check-in time, the staff kindly let us check-in early. This is also not the limit of their kindness and help. They were also a great source of information on the city and would not hesitate to call you a taxi. This said, if you planned your sightseeing during the day and could walk a ways, this is the way to go. I strongly recommend a taxi at night though, not so much of the neighborhood but the sidewalks are a little in need of repair. The rooms are very "European" (small with wall-mounted mini flat-screen TV and smallish bathroom). The funkiest feature of the room was a plastic wood-grain feature that was backlit by fluorescent lights behind the headboard. Not exactly what I'd put into a room, but I have to say that it was unique - but nowhere near being a problem. Your closest apparent dining options are rather limited and -um- "cheap". There is a well-kept McDonalds about 750m up Sterneckstrasse and (even better!) a EuroSPAR supermarket about 500m the same way. I would stay here again. Good value, if you can put up with some effort for food and sightseeing. Only disadvantage was that all the rooms face Sterneckstrasse, and there is a lot of road noise on this main street at all hours.

Room Tip: Get one on the top floor, away from the road noise

We enjoyed our one night stay at the holiday inn. We weren't looking for quaint or classic, just comfortable and reasonable pricing and this fit the bill. We were able to park on the street for free and walked all over the city.

I stayed in this hotel for one night in April. I must say that my experience with other Holiday Inn hotels was much better. This hotel is of a fair distance from the town centre/train station (more than 20-minute walk required). The streets were quiet and there was not much going on nearby. Since no early check-in was allowed (normal check-in time is 3 p.m.!), we asked the staff to keep our baggage for us when we toured around the town centre. To our surprise, they just left our baggage at the counter which was easily accessible by everyone! What I expected was to store them in a locked room! There was no free wifi in the room as they advertise on its website. The worse part is: there was a terrible smell in the toilet (our room was on the second floor). We didn’t ask to change our room as we thought the smell would not last for long, and it look kinda stupid to make such request simply because of the smell. Well, we were wrong. The smell simply got worse the next morning. It was really disgusting. We checked out very early in the morning, seriously, because of that smell. Frankly speaking, I have strong reservation recommending this hotel to my friends. I would rather pay more for one nearer to the town centre and with free wifi.

First, that person gave us to fill in a questionnaire, then gave us the keys of the room and finally announced that our reservation no longer aplies at the price they have offered us over the internet. On 21. april we got the confirmation that we make reservation at that price, five days later they check our Visa card and they couldn t charge so they inform us by mail(26.april). WE didn t answer them..of course we have already travelled to the place where we do not have an internet acess and do not know that they have a problem with our Visa card. When i told her that is not our fault, they should chek the card earlier, she told us that we can walk throught the door and LEAVE THE HOTEL.Everything else
in Salzburg was great. It is sameful to have such a person at the reception.

Clean hotel with spacious rooms and a good restaurant. We stayed for two nights and found it pretty comfortable. Its a bit away from the historical centre of the city but within walkable distance. Would stay there again

This is a modern hotel just a short walk from the old town and a comfortable base to explore Salzburg without the price tag of being in the centre of the city. We spent two nights at this hotel and had a good sized corner room with a view of the mountains, although not all rooms would have this. Despite temperatures of minus 8 C outside, it was warm enough inside for just light clothing. The service was efficient rather than friendly. There was a good selection for breakfast and we enjoyed some local specialties in the restaurant in the evening. The hotel had been recently refurbished but room amenities were a bit more basic than other Holiday Inns we have stayed in. We were disappointed there was limited choice of English language channels on the TV and no pay per view movies. There was also no fridge.
