We stayed at Haus Steiner and Rosemarie Steiner was our gracious host. We've been to B&Bs in the UK, France, Canada but this was our best stay so far. Rosemarie was very kind and attentive to our requests and the B&B is exactly like a house. Our room looked over some charming farmland with a huge mountain filling up the panorama on a clear day. Overall, for the price we paid for the room (56 euros per night for the two of us) it was more than satisfying. Breakfast was adequate with bread, cold meats (ham and salami slices) and a selection of cheese. Fruit, cake, excellent coffee and tea. Our room was clean, beds were comfortable, wifi available. A clean, albeit on the smaller side, shower bath was attached. We'd forgotten to bring adapters for our power plugs, burned the hair straightener (remember: 220-240V in Austria!) but Rosemarie kindly provided these (Salzburg cards are available for purchase too) so we were up and out quickly. The Bus stop (#21) into town is a 5 minute walk from the premises and 15 minutes later you are by the Salzach river where everything happens. From this point, we were able to visit on foot almost every point of interest. If you're unprepared for Salzburg (as we were) Rosemarie's advice was spot on and her suggestions helped us plan our vacation. At the end of the day, this is a Bed and Breakfast run by a real native of the place. Our review is ofcourse subjective, but we preferred this B&B anyday to the over-priced, tourist-trap hogging hotels. We were in Salzburg for a week and coming back to Rosemarie's was something we looked forward to at the end of each day. We will definitely be going back to Haus Steiner.
There are rooms with a kitchen in case you'd like to cook.
