“Mixed Bag - first impression very okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

We were disappointed with Hanas Rasoi, because the first approach to us as customers wasnt the best - one of the owners (the main guy) was taking our order, and suddenly just went off to talk to some other group without even saying 'excuse me'.

A couple of other disappointments in terms of time taken to serve our food versus others, but I will give them the benefit of doubt there.

The food quality was nice - so no doubts there... but I really think they need to be a lot more sensitive to customers - it would have taken my wife nothing more to just walk off from there.

“Excellent food, wonderful hosts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

Stumbled upon this Indian restaurant when walking around the historic old town, trying to escape the pouring rain. It was great to have Indian food after several days of being away from India (!), the food was excellent and the naans beat any other naans I have had back home in India. The owners of the restaurant were so nice and friendly and it almost like we were eating in a friends home. It's located in a quiet alleyway just of the main shopping street ( I dont remember the name) and can be easily be reached in a few minutes walk from the MarketPlatz (Mozart House, Marionette Theatre) & from HanuschPlatz.

“Not great flavours. Nice Service.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

Nice starter of onion bhaji. One of the best ever but then the mains were really lacking flavour. Dont know what there using as a tandoori oven in the kitchen but they need a new one. My tandoori chicken was just normal chicken with a very bland sauce. Everyting else was ok. Service was good and very welcoming.

“Decent Butter chicken/Spinach soup, nice if inefficent waiter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

Cash only, we found out at the end. Good food to an extent. Butter chicken was good Perch in curry sauce was good. Curry chicken was ok. Spinach soup was the best, pumpkin soup was ok, lentil was basically tasteless. My drink was good but quite small for the price (The almond milk made with dried fruits and cardamon.) My guljiri badam (think rice pudding but with a cardamon twist) was excellent but not for everyone due to a Congee like texture. The owner carrying the wallet with the money for us to pay was weird and he kinda rushed us.

Inexpensive, ok Indian. Not for New Yorkers/anyone with a good place in their neighborhood.

“Good Food but horrible hospitality”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

we went to the hotel for lunch. we are three of us and we had a 2 yr old kid with us. the vegeterain food was ok but the reception at the restaurant was horrible. the main steward carried a stern face as if she was doing us a favour. although the whole restaurant was empty we were dictated on which table to occupy. Would never go there again.
