“A very good choice.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

Located in the very heart of Graz basically everything is walking distance. We stayed for one night and used this opportunity to explore the X-mas markets around, did some sightseeing and dined lovely in the restaurants nearby.
Not much to complain about the hotel - our twin room was big, furbished antique style and the huge bathroom had a triangular tub. The bed was comfy and although we had a street-view room, there was very little noise, so the sleep quality was very good. Wi-Fi worked flawlessly as well.
Hotel staff is friendly and helpful and breakfast was opulent with a variety of choices.

The only minor downsides are the absent parking (public garage is located about 400m from hotel) and the slightly outdated bathroom equipment (has nothing to do with the antique image of the room - some tiles and the marble on the floor were broken and the jets in the tub didn´t work as well)

Long story short - the hotel offers great value for money spent. I would absolutely come back again

Dear Guest! Thank you very much for your kind review - we are very glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the Hotel zum Dom before Christmas! Do you know that Graz is great place to visit in summer too? We are looking forward to welcoming you again! And yes, we do not have a privat parking - but on the other hand, once you've parked you car, you can reach more or less everything by foot!
Best wishes,
Charlotte Kaltschmidt, Hotel manager

I was here for a conference at the medical school in July and really enjoyed my stay. The room was comfortable, the staff was friendly, and it was just a short walk to the tram station. I never had the breakfast although I heard it was delicious from a colleague who was also staying there. The hotel is close to many good restaurants and shops and bars. If I return to Graz I will definitely stay here again. Very happy!

Graz is Austria's second largest city and a place where Northern and Southern, Western and Eastern European culture and style are in perfect harmony. It is on top of that a jewel of Austrian Art Nouveau and a center of one of the finest European cuisines.

If you want to see this ciy the perfect place to stay is the Dom-Hotel. I have never seen in my life such huge hotel rooms which were for a more than affordable room rate equiped with nice modern and antique furniture as well as all modern amenities. WiFi was working only partly on the 3rd floor (due to a change of the system the day before), but without problems the ground floor.

The Hotel is in the very center of Graz, 5 min. walk from the Hauptplatz and 2 min. from Graz Schauspielhaus.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

I did not try the restaurant, but the breakfast was very good with a good selection of sweet and salty starters for the day.

Room Tip: On the 3rd floor the family room is a full 2 sleeping rooms suite with two bathrooms. The rooms on t...

Great hotel, great service and great location!.
We stayed in a superior room for 2 nights in October 2012. The room was in two levels. Living area was downstairs and bedroom was upstairs (via a spiral staircase). Staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was very good with a plenty of choice.

We had a nice size room, by European standards. Location to inner city old center, was very close. Staff was friendly and helpful. Romm had a/c which came in handy, as it was hot. Did not eat in hotel, so cannot comment. Plenty of food choices nearby. If you have a car , be aware that hotel does not have its own garage. We had a rental car, but since our request for automatic transmission was not available until next day, ended up taking a taxi from airport, so parking was not an issue--as an aside, you may encounter the same issue, so if you rent from Sixt, and perhaps others, be sure of your requirements and that they can be met, i.e., automatic transmission. We didmget it, but had to cab it to pickup site in Graz a day later than expected--at least it saved me having to drive into Gaz and figure out parking at Pfaugarten public garage!
Enjoyed Old center city.

We booked 1 night at Zum Dom based on Tripadvisor reviews, unfortunately we were a bit disappointed. Staff is friendly indeed and the location is excellent, however the room (#2) was quite small, very hot (with over 30° outside and no working airconditioning - despite having alerted staff to this) and worn/dated (especially the bathroom and carpet). Colourful rooms and quirky decoration don't necessarily make for a boutique hotel I'm afraid.

During my stay at this beautiful hotel, i had no luck.
In the first place we were given room 10B, rather small, but in obvious need of renovation. Specially the badroom fixtures needed to be changed, as they were cracked and looked dirty. However, this is not the first time that reserving through Expedia we were given the "worst" room in the house.
The first night the Air conditioning did not work. We reported it and were advised that it was fixed.this was not the fact, and the technician came back at about 8 in the evening, to look at the unit, he said he had fixed, just to inform us that it was beyond a fix, and would have to be exanged some other day. So another very hot night. Openning the window did not help the temperature but brought in the street noise.
Otherwise the staff was very friendly, the breakfast excelent.
I am sad that the choice of room dissapointed what could have been a very nice stay.

Room Tip: Avoid 10b! Look at the photos there are some gorgeous rooms and suites
