“Convenience and quality at a moderate price.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2014 via mobile

A useful place to know. Unassuming across the wide open square from Graz' Hauptbahnhof. Sound busy, noisy? Not. Well sized and clean room with everything you need. Good price, $193 for 2 for 2 nights.

Stayed here on a business trip and found the hotel to plane and ok nothing special and defo not a 4 star hotel. The breakfast was very poor for 15euro with consetrate juice raw boiled eegs i asked for a boiled eeg on 3 mornings and all 3 times the eegs were raw on the inside.. i mean what chef cant cook a boiled egg...The breakfast area can also get very packed with tours as the area to eat is quite small.. So i would not get the breakfast as theres a shop next door does great breakfast and half the price. Over all a poor hotel

Room Tip: ask for a room away from the main road.

In Graz "Europa" appeared to offer good value in a practical location (directly opposite the train station). Overall it delivered just that, with a few positive and negative 'spikes;' first, the latter: the desk chair and easy chair in the (otherwise fine) guest room were plastic covered, which is cheap and uncomfortable (leads to quick overheating). The breakfast, in my view not really inexpensive at € 15.- extra per person, was great: especially commendable the cheese selection and the sautéed vegetables (to go with scrambled eggs), but it seemed to offer something for a variety of tastes. There was one glaring miss: the so-called orange juice was a bad joke (in view of the entirely decent brands of packaged juice in Austria).

Room Tip: The windows are so well insulated that even rooms facing the street are perfectly quiet--with window...

A decent, average hotel. Decent price, good location across from Graz train station and in walking distance to the city center. Average service and average breakfast, althoug at 9 when arriving for breakfast didn`t find much more stuff to eat. I would recommend this hotel for no more then a 2 night stay. Parking cost 12 euro/night

This year we have selected Graz as our mid-term break city tour location. We have spent 2 nights in this hotel and we were very please with it. The hotel is located opposite to the main railway station, so it has great connection to the old town via public transportation (tram 1,3,6,7). However, as we have discovered the city centre and majority of the sights are only 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel.
The hotel is nice and clean. Staff is very friendly and providing excellent service. Rooms are rightly sized for 2, but as we needed an extra bed it was quite tight. Also the extra bed quality was not so great, as it was an expandable sofa, making cracking noises. Internet was accessible from the room, but I assume we were quite far from the router, as in some areas the signal was quite weak. We were all very satisfied with the breakfast, as they offered a wide choice and food quality was really good. We haven't tested the restaurant, as we preferred to have local food in the city.
If you are travelling by car be aware, that parking is not included in the room price, but you can use the nearby shopping centre parking facility and it is accessible directly from the hotel.

Some tips for those who would like to discover the city with kids:
- Schlossberg (Castle) (use the Schlossberg bahn = funicular, or the lift to go up, down you can take the stairs)
- Armoury at Landeszeug haus (Herrengasse 16)
- Museum im Palaise (Stack Str) (only with kids 10+)
- Edegger- Tax royal bakery (fab for a coffee break)
- Cathedral and Mausoleum (you can climb up to the tower)
- Glockenspiel (at 11am, 3pm, 6pm) (just near to it you can have lunch at Glocklbrau)
- Eggenberg castle (take tram No. 1 towards Eggenberg Schloss, peacocks are walking free in the garden and state rooms are beautiful. Be aware they've left the castle in its original condition, so there is no electricity on the main exhibition area, accordingly plan your visit for the morning, or early afternoon.)

We have just had 3 nights at this lovely hotel. The location is right at the main train station, and the town centre and sights of Graz are all walking distance. The hotel is modern and quite elegant, rooms are new, spacious, clean and comfortable, with minifridge, and free internet. The bathroom was large (proper bathroom size with bath and shower...all working very well). The room rate was excellent, and we chose to have the hotel breakfast buffet (located in a large bright breakfast room and well stocked with lots of lovely choices). Staff were cheerful and helpful. We had a great stay in Graz (some terrific sights to see, plus fabulous shopping too - it has the biggest sports stores we have ever seen!), and would recommend the hotel to others. It obviously had a lot of guests on business, but the hotel is perfect for tourists/visitors too.

Room Tip: High floors, and rooms located away from the main street/station are very quiet.

My husband and I just left the beautiful city of Graz, Austria. He attended a conference in Graz and I was fortunate to travel with him. We chose this hotel because of the convenience to the OBB rail station and the city center. It was very sufficient for our needs. The rooms were small as are most European hotels but the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was available in the restaurant but was slightly expensive so we ate breakfast at a coffee house next door. Travel to the city center could not have been easier by tram or by foot (about 15 minutes). If you want to stay in the middle of old town, this is not the place for you, but if you want a comfortable room that is a good value with free Internet, stay at the Trend Hotel Europa in Graz.
