“Great location, staff and breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

I stayed here for 2 weeks with work in May. The hotels location is great, just across the Danube from the city and right next to the Ars Electronica Center, there is also a few great bars next to the Ars Electronica particularly the circle bar.
My room was very spacious. I was on the back on the building so I could not hear much road noise, there is a church which rings every half hour, however this did not bother me at all. the furnishings were simple but looked nice and performed very well. Great shower in the bathrooom. The back of the builiding also has great views down the Danube and into the mountains.
The breakfast is great, quality food with a great service. They were very accommodating even on the national holidays when I still had to go to work.
Was a great stay and I would recommend, I am staying again at the end of June.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back of the hotel have less road noise and a nice view.

This is probably the largest regular hotel room I ever stayed in. The place obviously was not designed as a hotel. It seems that apartments or flats have been converted into hotel rooms. I had been assigned a regular room. The decor was meant modern, but rather tired if you looked closer. The bed was very soft with an old mattress - I was not able to sleep most of the night. The shower was in a disgusting state. Breakfast was rather good. The location is central, although in the core of the city, but on the other side of the river. You can go running or walking from the hotely within minutes.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a quiet room. In some rooms, every tramway from the street seems to run through y...

The hotel is conveniently located by the Danube. The Ars Electronica building with it's fun restaurant and bar is right next door. Running along the river is also awesome. The old city is a ten minute walk across the Danube. My room was very spacious. The decor is rather simple. Breakfast was good. The only downside of this hotel is that there is no bar or restaurant. It almost feels like you are staying in a residential place.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012

We had a 3 night stay in eaarly December, booked through Hotels.com going via the Quidco cashback portal. Cost was £69 for the room on a B&B basis per night. We were on the second floor and got upgraded to a suite. Very comfortable if a little bit tired. A massive room, 205!! By Austrian standards this hotel sneaks into the 4 star category although if you think of it as 3 star you will get a better idea of what to expect. Reception and check in/out were functional and efficient. there is no real seating area in reception, it's more of a corridor. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Eggs are cooked to order if you wish. Really good choice of breads and nice cold cuts/cheese. The bar and restaurant have closed and this does nothing for the frontage. All tram lines stop just outside so it's really convenient for public transport, time to the main railway station is around 7 minutes. Time to the city centre hub is 2 minutes. For what we paid we were happy with what we got and the hotel suited our needs.

Room Tip: Try to get a suite but be prepared for traffic noise. There's no aircon so the higher up the bui...

1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

My family and I booked a junior suite at this hotel for the in November 2012 and had to leave the hotel after the first night. My wife and I are generally easy going and have never written revies etc but on this occasion felt we had to warn people of this hotel. My wife and I have a 6mo old baby who travelled with us to this hotel.

Arrival: We needed to park in the hotels underground car park and were dissapointed to find we were unable to "call" up to reception for them to open the gate without going to reception (if alone with a baby this would be inconvenient at the least). Once in car park we found there was no lift to the hotel - so had to move a baby, suitcases, prams & luggage up the stairs etc. Not ideal but hey-ho, thats life sometimes. Staff helped & were generally very helpful.

Hotel: We entered the hotel from the garage and walked straight into a "buliding site" without lighting (arrival was 18:30). The hotel reception was shabby and the 1 lift in the hotel was tiny and dated. Still nothing to get too excited about but we were dissapointed as we hoped for a 4* hotel, not a shabby 2*.

Room(s): WOW, I have NEVER in 20 years of travelling seen anything like this (apart from a youth hotsel in my teens!). The "Suite" was a joke. Old carpet, knackered furnishings and broken bathroom. We were greeted by some kind of a beetle on the wardrobe door. We were so shocked that we went to get a room change without taking any pictures. We were offered a normal double room as alternative as all the "suites" were booked out. This turned out to be one of thier "refurbished" designer rooms - which at first glance looked acceptable. We moved in as we had no choice - our baby needed feding and putting to bed.
That is when we took a closer look at the room... FILTHY. We dont need luxury, but we demand clean & tidy. This time we took pictures.... and uploaded them here... NEVER again.

The location of the hotel is perfect. In ffront of the hotel is a tramstation (with 50 you can go up to the hill - Pölstenberg, where there is a great attraction for children. Inside in a mine a little train with tales.)
If you cross the bridge you are in the city center.
The rooms are huge, you feel like in a ball room. Bed is good but there were some strange noice during the night - maybe the heating or the ice machine - which were very disturbing to sleep. Also the bathroom was very old and the hair dryer didn't work. But it was clean.
Breakfast was nice and staff were really friendly and helpful to us.

Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good.
Otherwise:
Rooms are big but empty; could do with proper couches and no ambience. Nio airconditioning. Open window to get smell from garbage bins and noise in the back or traffic noise and fumes in the front.
Carpet is thin and seems dirty.
Television is very old not flat screen. No movie channel like 4 *.
Bathroom is small and old. Stained toilet. Small shower fibreglass hob like 3 star.
They did not warn that renovations were underway?
It is a very busy main road in front and a difficult approach and the only place to stop is in a main bus stop - we did not try it. It is a awkward walk from the carpark to the front door around the outside of the building.
Unless you are a backpacker or want to visit the office block next door it would not be our choice again.
