My experience in Gasthof Zauner-Seewirt was positive, overall; it's certainly hard to beat the location in the heart of a delightful lakeside town, the owners are friendly and forthcoming, and the price seemed reasonable for such a popular destination. To be sure, one should not expect too much in the way of modernity or spaciousness: the knotty-pine rooms are fairly small, the bathrooms show their age, and I can't remember my last encounter with non-cable TV. The formerly much-lauded restaurant also seemed only OK (although I did not sample the lake fish speciality). Hotel guests are exempt from the ban on tourist cars in the town center, but that means navigating a long street full of pedestrians and searching for a parking space - probably not worth the effort for those without a lot of luggage, for the regular tourist parking lot is only about 100 yds. from the hotel.
