“B&B in valley above Hallstatt”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

We spent two nights here a few weeks ago. The owner was lovely and the room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very modern. This B&B is surrounded by steep granite mountains and the setting is lovely. It is about a 5 minute walk into town, and is very dark at night, so bring a flashlight!

The bed was very comfy, and we had a huge balcony. We enjoyed our traditional Austrian breakfast each morning and chatting with the other guests and the inn keeper.

We had a lovely stay here. Hallstatt is a lovely town, and this place really suits it. The house is very close to the foot of the mountain, and perfect location for visiting the salt mines. Great room, friendly owner, lovely breakfast. Recommend!

We stayed here 3 nights to attend my husband's 50 year class reunion in Hallstatt. (Third night gets you a discount) What a delight! Rene Jansen runs an immaculately clean and very friendly small (3 rooms) B&B. Our lovely room was all wood and had enough room for table and chairs and night stands. We had our own shower and toilet. The bathroom space was more than adequate. Breakfast was very good and included boiled eggs and home made jam (yum!) It is an easy walk into a beautiful and historical town set on a spectacular lake. Having done both, I would absolutely stay here as opposed to the more expensive and much smaller rooms found in town. Free WiFi. Highly recommended.

My husband and I spent two nights at Haus Lidy in early July. It was about a 15 minute walk from the ferry in town. We had a room with private bath and toilet. The room was very charming with wood walls and ceiling. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The room was plenty large with a table, night stands, and balcony facing the mountains. Ms. Lidy prepared a nice breakfast of bread, cheese, meat, jam, juice and coffee. We left early on our last day, shortly before 7 a.m. Ms. Lidy was kind enough to make some sandwiches and wrapped them for us to take with and have on the train. The B&B is very reasonably priced. I would not hesitate to recommend staying there and if I were to return to Hallstatt, I would stay there again myself.

We had a really nice stay here. Extremely pretty location. It is a wonderful walk to the main part of town. The room was beautiful, cozy, and comfortable! Had a great breakfast as well. So happy we found this place for our stay. It was too bad we couldn't spend another night!

Room was clean, homely and a reasonable size. It is a little out of town, 10-15min walk into town, which I think would be lovely in good weather. Unfortunately we were there in the middle of winter and it didn't stop raining/snowing. Lidy was lovely and served a good breakfast including eggs, bread, cheese, cold meats and jam. We had a private bathroom (there are three rooms and the other two rooms share a bathroom). The room had a large flat screen TV, a table, lots of cupboards and a balcony. Great sleep, although the pillows were a bit thin (this seemed to be a consistent problem in Austria). I'd definitely recommend it as a great B&B to stay whilst in Hallstatt.

Room Tip: There are three rooms, I think only one has a private bathroom.

What a gem! It was extremely reasonable. We were pleasantly surprised when we saw our accommodations. Our room was upstairs. It had two bunk-beds and a double bed, a large en-suite bathroom, and a nice private balcony with a lovely view. The room was very clean. There was ample parking on the house ground. Lidy was our host. She was personable, wonderful and very helpful about getting around in Hallstatt. She spoke good English. Her breakfast and coffee was great! It was a nice ten minute walk to the centre of town. The lake is in the centre of town and it is so tranquil and beautiful. The town had nice shops, restaurants, churches. We visited the Bone Chapel and found it very interesting! It was a short drive to the Ice Caves and 5 Finger Lookout and we highly recommend this! The cable car ride to see these attractions is fantastic! We stayed in Hallstatt for two nites but wished we could have stayed longer!
