“Happy to say it is open again!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

Reopened for business this May. Still one of my favourite, family run small Cyprus self catering hotels. Excellent pool, opposite the tourist beach. Still not much around it but it is at least not in the centre of the miles and miles of road works and 'improvements' that are all over Larnaca at the mo.

Room Tip: No bad rooms here really - only 2 floors high - either around the pool or above looking down on the...

We stayed at Lysithea last weekend and it was a lovely change from the hustle and bustle of London. All of the staff were incredibly friendly, and we were well looked after. The wi-fi was great (we could get it in our room), and the pool-bar food was good too. As we were there just before the high-season, the complex was pretty quiet and we had good access to the sun loungers and pool. While the complex and decor is slightly dated, my rating is based on the value for money and the friendliness of the staff... you can't beat a double room for 30 euro per night! It had everything that we needed, and if you are after a quiet holiday, this is the place!

We had a kettle and toaster but only one frying pan and a two ring hot plate for cooking, so catering for ourselves was very minimal. Fortunately I have family in Cyprus so they lent us a small saucepan and some mugs as we only had small cups. There was no entertainment on at the hotel but that could be because we were not in the height of the holiday season but there was a bar although we did not use it. The room was attractive and very clean, the cleaner came in everyday but you never knew when she would come. There was a wardrobe with 6 hangers in it and only three small drawers (and I mean small) so storage was a problem. On the whole, it was not bad but more like 2 star than 3. The gardens and pool area were also kept very clean too,

It was a good location for us not too busy , The pool was good and we swam every day, The Hotel was also close to the beach which when we were there was never crowded ,The bus stop was outside the Hotel, If you like to run you had a choice of the beach or the path at the side of the road to Larnaca, We had several Greek salad and chips from the pool bar well maybe a few beers as well, the food was very good as was the beer , We would go back there again and would book direct as it is an easy trip from the airport so no expensive transfers to pay

Room Tip: A room near the pool might be able to use the pool bar wi fi in the room

positives: great location, nice beach opposite with good facilities with lovely restaurant/cafe, bus stop just outside which takes you directly to larnaca airport for 1 euro, quiet, Vlachos tavern short bus ride away serves great authentic cypriot food
negatives: balcony too small, previous guest in room was smoker, needs refurbishment, electric plug in kitchen hanging off wall, full ashtrays left by vacant sunbeds

I've stayed at the lysithea for many years now as I first went when I was only 18 with my girlfriend paula & was extremely impressed with the costing and cleanliness and even more so the family feel welcome by George the manager at the time and his great staff :-) I'm 37 now with 3 daughters and have taken them back for many years now and have grown with the hotel, George has since taken over the hotel and has kept it to a high standard in all aspects, great food, clean rooms everyday & a lovely big pool also one for kids. Never have any of us felt so welcome as the staff have also been around for years. Main factors for a relaxing holiday & a short distance to the town then this is the place to stay. One negative for me is that I don't live there :-) & the positive is I'm back again next year :-) Summary: extremely welcoming environment, very clean & tidy and great value for money :-)

We recommended this hotel as a cheaper option for accommodation for our wedding guests coming from the UK. We were very impressed by how efficiently the hotel is run and when we encountered a problem with the dates booked for one family, they sorted it out very quickly with minimum fuss. The beach is right across the road and, while it is not a particularly pretty beach, it is clean and is very good for families because it is shallow, has lots of shade available and a cafe for snacks and cold drinks. All our guests were happy with the accommodation and the pool area is ideal for people wanting to relax and get a tan. The only criticism we had from our guests was that the pool seemed quite mucky towards the end of each day, I guess because people were in and out of it all day with suntan lotion on & sandy feet from the beach. If this could be solved, the hotel would be perfect, but either way I certainly would recommend it again.
