“Nice experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

So I spent one night in the Le Meridien during a conference and I liked it a lot, maybe because I was lucky enough to get a sea view room which was perfectly quiet (apart from the construction noise during day time). And it had a private balcony with sea view, of course.
The room itself was nothing special, but the location is really outstanding. Most meeting rooms have sea view and private terraces. Large garden/terrace area and swimming pool, of course closed for the winter, in front of the small private beach. That beach is tiny and the sand is more like stones, nothing compared to other places in the mediterranean, but you won´t go to Monte Carlo for a beach holiday, right?
The staff was mostly friendly (reception more, restaurant less). I have no comparison as this was my first visit to Monaco, but I will keep the Le Meridien in good memory.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review on Trip Advisor.

We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us and we appreciate very much all your comments.

We apologize for the outside construction noise which is out of our control.

The outdoor facilities as well as the sea-view in general are indeed really pleasant in room as well as in the meeting spaces.
The hotel has been designed in order to take advantage of all what the Mediterranean has to offer to provide it to our guests.

It is true that the beach is a bit small, but it is the only private beach within the Monte-Carlo hotels.

Thank you again for your kind words that are highly appreciated and we hope to welcome you back soon to Le Méridien Beach Plaza.

Best Regards,

What stands out at Le Meridien Beach Plaza is the personal service from the valet, bell man, front desk, house keepers and room service. I was expecting good service, but not what I experienced. While I never met a manager, it's clear this is a hotel where the management team are doing a terrific job. The room was very good and the location convenient. I'll be back.

Got upgraded to a sea-view facing room. Very nice staff and the breakfast is fab. The hotel gives you a 5 Euro voucher if you don't get your room cleaned. I liked the location, the gym was alright, good cardio equipment and enough weights for a decent workout. The rooms were a little small (but this is Monaco). The internet is terrible but I understand that Monaco Telcom has a monopoly. Wifi at 95 Euro for 7 days is exorbitant and the service is intermittent. Starwoods were very gracious hosts.

This hotel sits between the beach and a busy road. It's a typical conference venue and plays on the fact the conferences will fill it. Many of the rooms/bathrooms are small and tired. The double glazing is not good enough to isolate the degree of road noise that goes on through the night. You really will need ear plugs if you can't get a sea view room, particularly at the weekend when the boys racers in loud sports cars like to play at being F1 drivers until early hours.

There are effectively 3 grades of room: sea view, side and road but if you are really unfortunate you could get road view next to the lifts! (This is a hotel that prides itself on the disco Muzak in the lift.)

There is a large terrace and pool outside with a small slip of beach, which are attractive. The food is pretty average and generally food and drink is expensive. The restaurant staff is pleasant enough. However, the receptionists are not - off hand and unhelpful.

I stayed here a few times because I was booked here for a conference. I would have been disappointed if I booked it myself.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay and for having let us know about your experience at Le Méridien Beach Plaza.

We sincerely apologize for your stay not reaching your well deserved expectations.

We are currently planning the necessary changes that we trust will address in a near future the road noise problem that exists in some of our rooms.

Your comments about the service of some of the Reception staff members was analysed and discussed internally in order to avoid this impression in the future. Your comments about the service of the Restaurant staff were also shared internally and celebrated among the team.

It is really pleasant to read that you enjoyed all the other aspects of you stay such as the terraces, the pool or the beach.

We would be very honoured if you would give us a chance of addressing the image that you now kept from Le Meridien Beach Plaza.

Tax and property values may really be astronomical at Monte Carlo. The resort was plain and unimpressive compared to other 5 star resorts. Location wise, no issue. Rooms, although clean, had a lot of tech glitches. My aircon was not working when I came. Rooms are so small for 500 + euro per day. No complimentary water nor fruit! Unbelievable for the money! Only one working restaurant and the food was not passing gourmet. It was not what I expected of a prime hotel at Monaco. Gym was thankfully suitable.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review on Trip Advisor.
We appreciate highly you feedback that allow us to improve and enhance our level of services.

We apologize as your stay at Le Méridien Beach Plaza did not match your expectations and regret not having been informed of the inconveniences you encountered before your departure.

It is indeed unacceptable that your air conditioning was not working properly upon arrival even if we understand it was fixed afterwards.

Concerning the restaurant, we are truly sorry to read that you did not found the food served as very special , as this in the tone of the comments that we regularly receive about it.
For information, we have the restaurant L’Intempo, open 24/7, but also the Muse restaurant, open from June to September and also every Friday evening from the end of June to the end of September, you can enjoy a nice barbecue by the pool.

We are glad that you enjoyed the rest of your stay, as well as the Fitness area.

And we would be very grateful if you would allow us a chance to recover the image that you now kept by being able to hosting you back in a near future.

Please do not hesitate to contact us directly should you think that we may able to assist..

The hotel has beautiful grounds and has a beach. The rooms are pleasant enough, but avoid at all costs rooms on the east side of the hotel. I had room 127 and had to ask to be moved, after enduring 2 nights of very disturbed sleep due to excessive noise from the street and alley outside. The garbage trucks arrived at 0230 to empty the hotel's bins - you can imagine the noise. Then the hotel employees decided to wheel the bins down the ramp.
I found most of the staff surly, although this can generally be the case in France (in my experience). The prices of food and drink were astronomic - EUR29.00 for a chicken club sandwich and EUR13.00 for a gin & tonic!!! I wasn't expecting Monte Carlo to be cheap, but that was beyond belief. In addition I had GBP295.00 stolen from my wallet which was inside my suitcase under some clothes (inside a wardrobe). It is my fault for not using the provided safe, but it didn't do anything to improve my impression of this hotel.

Room Tip: avoid room 127 and all rooms on the east side of the hotel!

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay at Le Méridien Beach Plaza.

Please accept our sincere apologizes for all the inconveniences encountered during your stay.
We appreciate highly your feedback that will allow us to correct and improve our services.

In order to improve the noise insulation in the rooms that require it, we are currently planning the necessary changes and hope it will addressed in the very near future.
We will take in consideration your recommendations regarding food and beverage pricing in the next opportunity or pricing review.

As mentioned in the emails that we exchanged on Nov 15, we are afraid that, regarding the loss of money, there is not much we can do at this stage as too many days had gone until the moment you advised us, and we can obviously not accuse anyone in particular for the cash disappearance.

It is indeed a pity that you did not use the safe deposits provided free of charge in your room or at the Reception Desk, and we can only suggest you to try to declare it to the nearest police station where you currently are, to see if further actions between the different authorities could be developed.

Once again, our sincere apologies for all the inconveniences, and we hope that you will not judge us solely on this experience and will choose to stay with us again.

Do not hesitate to contact us directly, shall we be of any help.

Best Regards,

Manuel De Vasconcelos

A room service Club Sandwich was 29 euro with a mandatory 6 euro tip...it was a good Club Sandwich but not a great one. That is enough to take this hotel off my list, call me a Cheap Charlie because this is Monaco not Newark. WiFi starts at 8 euros an hour but there are beach cafes close with free wi-fi. The breakfast is excellent. Recent change of ownership, we were told.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review and to let us have your detailed comments about your experience.

We are really sorry to read that you have been disappointed by your stay at Le Méridien Beach Plaza and regret not having been aware of it before you checked out of the hotel.

We are really sorry that the pricing for the internet access did not match your expectations although we are currently within or lower than the pricing range charged by all our competitors.
However, Le Méridien Beach Plaza is part of the Starwood Preferred Guest program which does offer free internet as a benefit for all its Gold, Platinum, and VIP members.

We appreciated and will gladly take in consideration your recommendations regarding food and beverage and internet pricing in the next opportunity or pricing revision.

We are glad that you enjoyed breakfast and have communicated it to the entire staff involved. In regards to the change of Ownership it did concern the lease of the hotel, but not the management and operations responsibilities.

We hope that you will be able to give us another chance to improve our image and remain at your entire disposal should we be able to help you in the near future..
