“nice chalet, good food, great hosts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2014

stayed in the chalet casale beginning of february. the chalet was clean, food was good but breakfast was the same everyday. my only gripe about the food was there was no muesli, bran flakes etc only sweet cereals and no fruit also no coffee or tea available of an evening. have stayed in chalets before and there has always been fresh fruit and facilities to make a hot cuppa before bed. Saying that this is only a minor gripe as we had a lovely week. ben, zoe, sophie and rob did an excellent job of looking after us. All the reviews talk of the walk to the ski lifts. it is nice to get some fresh air in the morning as the chalet is very warm, take earplugs with you as the chalet is very noisy, doors banging and voices are amplified. we used the free neilson cage for our skis with no problems. the slopes were well maintained. have been to france many times but would definately go back to andorra. my tip for a restaurant on the staff night of is The merlot in soldeu. only 19 euros for a 3 course meal. the portions are so big that i had a coffee instead of dessert. Overall a good ski week and would definately stay at the chalet casale again

Just returned from a fantastic week staying at Chalet Casale. Ben Sophie & Zoe made us feel very welcome and did a fantastic job looking after us they helped Rob the chef prepare us a delicious 3 course meal 6 out of our 7 nights stay (Wednesday being there well deserved night off) we never went hungry and can honestly say enjoyed every meal "Thanks Guys". You can have either red or white wine with your meal (half a bottle per person) and the bar that was open from 4pm to 10pm sold beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks at very reasonable prices 1€ for a beer or soft drink & 6€ for a bottle of wine. Breakfast was buffet style with cereals, bread, toast, croissants, ham, cheese & boiled eggs yoghurt's etc with orange juice Tetley tea & coffee. We were offered a cooked breakfast on the Saturday.
The rooms were not large but i have stayed in smaller, there was adequate wardrobe /storage space the bathroom had a full sized bath with good shower & plenty of hot water my only negative is that the rooms were very hot with all the radiators turned off we had to keep the window open.
The Staff kept the chalet spotlessly clean the lounge area was comfortable and great for socialising after dinner, there was free Wifi although when lots of people were logged on you could not always get connected.
The chalet was about a 10 minute walk to the lifts i would advise hiring a locker from the ski hire shop at the bottom of the slope the locker room is heated so you can leave your skis & boots there the cost for a week was 30 euros, with a 20 euro deposit for your key. The locker is supposed to hold 4 pairs of skis & boots i think you would struggle to get that many in but it is well worth the cost as the last part of the walk back to the chalet is up hill. If you would prefer there is a free cage for the chalet next to the ski hire shop but you cant leave your boots there and it is not as safe.
We had a great night out on the bar crawl & Quiz night organised by Neilson Sophie & Zoe from the chalet came along and we made lots of new freinds, mainly other guests from the chalet.
I would definitely recommend Andorra for all levels of skiers and boarders and you wouldn't go wrong staying at Chalet Casale I will certainly be going back.

I haven't even unpacked yet and I was keen to let everyone know how amazing the Chalet Casale and it's staff has been! It's very warm and clean, very social and cosy! The staff couldn't have been more helpful, and Rob the chef made delicious meals every day! The hotel is a little walk at the end of the day but it's definitely not enough to put you off this great chalet!

Just returned from a lovely weeks holiday in El Tarter. Great skiing for beginners and more advanced skiers . The walk from the chalet to the chairlift not a problem particularly if you hire a locker to store skis in at the bottom of the chairlift, 30 euros for 4 sets skis for a week. Staff at chalet friendly and helpful and rooms comfortable with good shower /bath. Food plentiful and wholesome with wine included. My only complaint is that the chalet was TOO HOT we slept with our window open and the radiator off all week as the underfloor heating was enough to keep the place warm. Overall a good place to stay and excellent value.

Everything you would expect from a ski chalet and more. There is a great social atmosphere with two long tables packed with food, wine and friendly faces in the dining room and a large lounge for relaxing with new or old friends.

The food
Every night Ben, Rob, Sophie and Zoe worked hard to meet every request. There were a lot of specific dietary requirements being catered for and this was done perfectly. My gluten and dairy free diet was not a problem at all, they even provided cakes for afternoon tea after a long day on the slopes. The choice of breakfast was limited but I brought my own and they happily prepared it for me.
I would highly recommend this for coeliac and gluten free skiers as a great place to stay. Traditional English home cooked food with enough to please the largest of appetites.

The rooms were tidy and pleasant (a little warm but we left the window open to get some nice alpine air overnight) the shower and bath was very good and great to soak in after a day of skiing.

There is a short walk uphill to the chalet but even after skiing it's not too hard on the legs.

The only downside I can think of was that the wifi was a bit slow but I was told that it is something they are working on by trying to get fibre optic installed in the chalet.

The fact that 3 groups told us that they had stayed before tells you all you need to hear.

I hope to return next year.

This is a really good place to stay - fantastic value for money! The staff are all helpful and efficient; food is good and the rooms are very comfortable and warm. It's about a 10 minute ( steep) walk to the slopes but you can rent a ski locker at the bottom of the chairlift so you don't have to carry skis back to the chalet.
A very sociable holiday!

2 slightly negative things only: soundproofing is not great so earplugs might help if you are a light sleeper, although everyone was respectful of this and it wasn't a problem. Also, there are no hair dryers in the rooms.

Highly recommended!
