I say in hoilday inn etc all the time and am at the top level of their priority points scheme.

The room was a good size but very dated and not well maintained. If you get the room at a good price it would be OK especailly for a family but not normal luxury crowne plaza standards

BEWARE do not eat in the buffet if you are concerned about food hygiene standards. We where one of the first to eat there on a Saturday night and I had luke-warm lasagne and cold chips. How many hours the food had been sitting around I dread to think. We ended up buying food from the local supermarket. Complained about the temperate of the food but was still charged. Wished I had read the reveiws before eating there as this has been a problem at this hotel for some time.

Good size rooms if you get them cheap enough

I was very pleased with my stay at the Crowne Plaza in Andorra.
All the hotels in Andorra are small - there is not much space to build grand hotels - however the Crowne Plaza was very well done. It is centrally located close to the shops, the rooms are very good - I stayed in a 5 star in Barcelona the day before, and the rooms there were smaller!
The breakfast selection was very extensive, of a 4 star hotel and the quality was quite good.
There is also a gym/pool/spa area, which was quite disappointing. The swimming pool is just bigger than a jacuzzi, but smaller than any meaningful swiming area. The gym was pretty basic, but I did get some good exercise with the weights etc.
Bear in mind you are in Andorra and not Paris or London, the hotel is very good

Having stayed at Holiday Inns and Crowne Plazas in several countries across the world, we thought that there was a certain level of quality guaranteed: that was our first mistake!

We arrived late afternoon, but we unable to pull up outside the hotel as there is no stopping bay: my partner had to run in oof the busy street to enquire as to wqhere we should park the car. The curt reply was not here, but a few hundred yards down the steet in a public car park, which is not ideal in a hire car. I prefer to park at the hotel I'm statying at to keep my eye on the car! The receptionist was unhelpful and chewed gum throughout the checking in process, not a major crime, but annoying just the same.

The room was OK, but very dark, being at the back of the hotel and up against the mountain. We had to keep the lights on all the time just to stop us tripping over suitcases. We'd booked a kid's suite, which sounds much better than it actually is. The room (apart from the bathroom) was shabby and tired looking, chipped walls and furniture and such like.

We decided to have a drink in the bar before eating, which was our second mistake. The bar itself isn't like a hotel bar at all, with several stools at the bar itself and some pub tables that are virtually part of the restaurant set-up. The barman served us quite efficiently, but then disappeared, as did the rest of the staff to the point where I had to go and look for them in order to pay the bill. I found them having a great time chatting and laughing next to the kitchen.

After a walk around the town we returned to the hotel for the evening buffett: that was our last mistake. The food looked and tasted inedible, it was luke warm and mainly covered in flies. The "show cooking" whatever that means consisted of the chef cutting up pieces of roast chicken!

Breakfast the next day was equally as bad. We actually sat ouselves down, having waited for someone to come to help us in vain!

Our best decision was to cut our trip short and return to Barcelona for an extra night. Suffice to say, the staff seemed not at all bothered!
