“Good value - could do with some life”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2014

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and size of the apartment we had, given that we booked a studio but were given a 1 bedroom appt in the main block overlooking the pool. The appt was clean and had all the basic facilities you'd expect for self catering, i.e. hob, fridge, kettle, toaster etc., although there was no grill or oven, and was cleaned daily (except for Sunday - not sure whether this was in error or not).

It could be that we went just prior to the season getting into full swing as the town in general was a little quiet, so this may be a reason, but we felt the hotel was lacking a little life. There was a pool bar, but it was never opened during our stay (nor tbh was the main bar as far as I could tell) meaning that if we wanted any daytime drinks (soft or alcoholic) we had to pre-purchase them from the local supermarket (which I would add was very well stocked). I suppose if you want peace and quiet whilst relaxing by the pool then this would be ideal, but I like a little more atmosphere. This may also be why we often found ourselves to be the only ones around the pool as other guests went elsewhere to find their entertainment. Having said that, we were described as "the young couple" which was very complimentary given that I am fast approaching 50.

The pool varied in temperature during the week, but was warmer towards the end of our stay. It was reasonably clean and we did see it being cleaned one evening.

Minor gripe - our transfer back to the airport wasn't until the evening, but we needed to check out by midday. Although the hotel stored our bags for us, there was nowhere available for us to "freshen up" before the trip home. It would have been nice if such had been offered and we were not the only guests in a similar situation.

Overall, if you're looking for an appt in Polis, I'd recommend, but be aware (certainly at this time of year) that you'll need to make your own entertainment.

I was lodged here by my host for 2 nights. I was with my wife and 5 year old son and we had the best of time. The accommodation was superb and everything worked. We were able to cook for ourselves and my son was delighted with the large pool. This is a traditional family place and we had a great time during Sunday lunch with the Stephanos family. Pure Greek experience.
Quiet neighborhood, large mall by the corner and WIFI works.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the mountains with balcony is your best bet....

This was the second time we stayed at the Stephanos and I am afraid they let us down. Last time we stayed here (June 2012) they gave us a room which they said we would have to move from the next day I complained and they moved us that night. Well again we arrived to find they allocated the wrong room, after complaining they did give us another room. Sorry to say it wasn't good, not very well cleaned, on no occasion during our stay did the cleaners do the balcony and the bathroom was mouldy, the extractor fan would scream at you when bathroom light was turned on. You certainly did not want to have to visit the bathroom at night. The accommodation is certainly looking very tired when you consider this is just the start of the season.
Sorry guys I know this is budget accommodation but you really need to get your finger out and update your rooms. It is a real pity as this hotel is perfectly located for anyone visiting Polis, in future I will have to look elsewhere. Please understand that I am a frequent traveller to Cyprus and I am not generally one to moan about basic accommodation but arriving late at night you do not want to be messed about with accommodation

Have just returned from a pre Easter week at the Stephanos Hotel Apartments and found it a good sized 1 bed roomed apartment which was cleaned daily with fresh towels, Perfectly placed for the restaurants of Polis which is still a relatively unspoilt part of Cyprus and more traditional, and we also ate in the hotel restaurant one evening and had a really good home cooked meal. Also home baking at breakfast as we had the B and B option, so we didn't use the cooking/kitchen facilities, but they would have provided everything we would have needed if we had wanted to self cater in the apartment.
The pool was very cold as it isn't heated, but presumably it warms up as the season progresses.
All the staff were very helpful and friendly as were all the local people we met in the restaurants and on our travels, We had hired a car which enabled us to travel further afield up into the Troodos mountains following a route given to us by Maria which gave us a really comprehensive tour of the area, and down to the south coast, but it was also easy to walk to the little beach near the town and then on into the lovely harbour of Latchi, about another 20 minutes on.
We felt really relaxed there and would seriously consider going back another year, possibly May time before it gets too hot, but maybe to take advantage of the pool a bit more.

We visited the Stephanos Hotel in June 2013, We were greeted by Maria who gave us a piece of cake and a glass of house wine as we arrived late - thank you Maria. The rooms in the hotel were basic but for what you pay you can not complain. The room was cleaned every day and the pool area was also very clean. There is not a lot in Polis centre, but it is really quaint. You can get all your supplies from the supermarket, at the front of the hotel turn left, then right at the mini roundabout, down the hill and its on right at the bottom and the prices are good!!! The beach is about a 20 minute walk and to be honest its not the best you can get shade in the wood near the beach as there are not many umbrellas, you can get a beer and a bite of lunch at the beach bar which is really nice. Polis is a vey quiet place, to be honest too quiet for me, we also got a cab from the airport and I wish we had hired a car it would have been the same price.

We left the apartments yesterday after a half term break in Polis. Booked through On the Beach, these apartments turned out to be more or less perfect for our needs at a bargain price. They are right in the centre of Polis although the pool area is a sheltered, private sun trap. We booked a one bedroom apartment as this was recommended in the reviews on here. I emailed a few days before arrival and requested a high floor with a pool view, which we were pleased to be given.

The apartments are spacious, spotlessly clean and well-equipped. A few reviews on here have referred to them as basic. You get a living area, dining furniture, shower, and bath, drinking water, a full size fridge freezer, TV, hair dryer, kettle, toaster, pans, utensils, glasses, dinner service and clean towels every other day. I definitely wouldn't call this basic; I'm not sure what people expect from a typical holiday apartment but there is more here than in some 'luxury' villas we have stayed in.

The family who run the place are helpful and friendly and we enjoyed being there right at the end of the main season, having the place pretty much to ourselves. Our only gripe was that the unheated pool was far too cold to swim in which is a big deal for us as I swim almost every day at home. This would probably prevent us from returning at this time of year but we will definitely be back at some point and will definitely recommend. I'm in the process of leaving reviews of the restaurants we went to in and around Polis which you might find useful too.

Good sized apartment and well positioned to explore the local area. Also close to bus station if you want to go further afield. Friendly and helpful staff. Not much in way of cooking facilities, but we didn't intend doing much. We enjoyed the local restaurants and tried the Cypriot food.
