What can we say about the Mariela that is different to the majority of reviews on here, it is brilliant.

We were greeted by the owner Pambos who had stayed awake for our 1am arrival, to be immediately offered a drink; he guided us to our apartment where we began our stay...

Without a doubt the best 3 star hotel you will ever find, let us make it clear, this is not the hotel you want if you want 5 star luxury, but if you want possibly the best customer service around then this is the place for you. The hotel and apartments themselves are clean, well-stocked and comfortable for self-catering; the option of breakfast is available for a small but fare charge.

The Mariela seems to attract the loveliest people from all parts of the world, but in all fairness with the service Pambos and Elini provide it is almost impossible to be anything but friendly. Most evenings after our meals out we would spend in the hotel bar with the lovely friends we met there and were often accompanied by the wonderful Pambos himself. Elini was always happy to provide us with her complimentary home baked cakes and snacks in addition to all of this

Admittedly we have spoken a lot of the service but it is truly 5 stars... the hotel itself though has two brilliant pools which are tirelessly kept in good condition by the owners, a great selection of sunbeds which can be moved to any location around the pool. Our room itself looked out on the two pools and also had a great beach view; although we were located around the pools it was still peaceful and serene

Polis as a place is beautiful; the plaza in the centre has a great varied selection of restaurants and taverns which once again all offer impeccable customer service throughout your time there,

We are a young couple who arrived looking for a nice relaxing break and what we found was a second home in Polis, more particularly, The Mariela

Thank you to Pambos, Elini, The Returns :) and all the wonderful people of Polis for making our holiday so perfect

Just got back from a week at Mariela. We really wished it was for two weeks instead. A very warm welcome from Pambos and Eleni awaits all guests on arrival, coupled with a welcome drink and cake. The apartments are spotless and ours looked over the swimming pool which was very relaxing. The whole place is pretty quiet, like Polis itself, but this only enhances your trip to Cyprus if you want a relaxing break. If you are looking for Ayai Nappa or Limassol then forget it. If you want a place that you can have a chat with locals, eat at lovely restaurants serving fresh produce and feel safe walking home at night then Polis is for you.

They dont seem to do much food, the breakfast is a choice of buffet or cooked, and this is charged as an extra, but it sets you up for the day quite nicely. There are plenty of places to eat in Polis with owners that really do care about their guests and customers. This seems to be a constant theme throughout our time here.

Free WiFi for all guests, Air Conditioning in the rooms was great, it is an extra but well worth it for cooling you down. There is a good size car park to the rear of the hotel also.

There is a bank directly opposite, numerous small shops and a big supermarket about 2 mins walk away.

Chatting to other guests, there were a few staying for months at a time and come back each year so the hosts must be doing something right. We are definitely coming back and would highly recommend it.

Stayed two weeks in August 2013. Excellent service from the husband and wife owners. Breakfast is extra at 4 euros per day with a help yourself buffet. Good range of cooked food throughout the day but no evening meals, there is a huge choice of eateries within a very short walking distance in Polis. There is a huge supermarket a couple of minutes drive away. The rooms are fine, but if you want air-conditioning that is extra (essential in August if you want some sleep!) Excellent swimming pools. Staff very helpful, Pambos very generous with his wife's home made cake. Very relaxed atmosphere. Can highly recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the swimming pools.

Stayed here with a friend & I would stay at the Mariela again - even by myself (felt safe).
Relaxing, laid back atmosphere.
The complex has not recently been modernised i.e. it is retro/rustic & understated - definitely not flash!
Helpful staff.

Why?
Location - easy to find in central location & in walking distance of restaurants, cafe's, bars, banks & shops.
Parking available.
Wifi - good connection
Beaches in easy driving distance.
VERY CLEAN ROOMS.
Efficient air conditioning.
Rooms have everything you need.
Swimming pool.

Stayed for 3 nights (Aug 2013). Great value. The building/facility is not the newest or fanciest, but the staff is very friendly (especially Pambos, the manager) and eager to help. Not fussy about exact checkout time etc. Everything worked just fine including the WiFi, A/C etc. The room was very clean. Well equipped kitchen + a large supermarket just 2min walk down the street. Highly recommended!

We stayed 14-16 June in the the of a very hectic all incl stay in Ayia Napa and what a wonderful 2 days we had. Before we checked in Pambos took us to the pool where he gave us 2 keo beers each and a plate of lovely cake. Once finished after a lovely chat he took us up to our room, that was the check-in no paperwork no passports how good is that. We were made to feel really at home within the first 60 seconds.

The room was a large one bed apart and was spotlessly clean and so much better than we expected.

Location was no probs a short walk into the center which was small but had a really intimate feel

We returned home yesterday after 6 days at the Mariela Hotel Apartments. The hosts Pambos & Eleni were beyond helpful, we asked for an upper floor room with a sunny aspect, paid a small fee of about euros 3 for an upgrade & got a large one bedroomed apartment (35b) which overlooked the pool.
The apartment was spotless & fully equipped with oven, hob, electric kettle & toaster, the beds very comfortable & linen & towels were changed daily. The room maid was charming & fastidious. You need to ask for a hairdryer. The air con is Eu 5 a day which is cheap considering the cost of electricity in Cyprus & fan's are available at Eu 3 a day.
The pool was cleaned daily & was not crowded in the least, with a cafeteria alongside. Beer & wine was readily available & inexpensive, as were the snacks. For example a 3 egg omelette was priced at Eu 4.50 & an full English breakfast inc toast, tea & coffee was Eu 5 & served with a smile.
The apartments are centrally located for Polis Square & within walking distance of all the restaurants there. A large fully stocked supermarket is about 3 mins walk away downhill & 5 mins back up!!, which caters for every need.
A car is necessary to get to Latchi beach & those further up the West coast, alternatively take a taxi?.
The only drawback for us was that the TV only had EuroNews which for the first 3 days was in English & then reverted to Greek, but Pambos got that sorted. But those with a laptop or iPad, WI Fi is on the property.
Overall, considering the price, the Marilea is a perfect base where you are left alone if you want to be or can mix if you wish.
We will be going back later in the year..........
ps.I have seen previous comments on the entrance from the parking area being a tad shabby, but you are not staying in the car park!!!!!!

Room Tip: Try & get a room in block B overlooking the pool, but these rooms are South facing so not to be...
