“Birthday Trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014 via mobile

Returned yesterday from a weeks stay at Capitol Coast, stayed in room 120-1 an executive suite on the main floor, room was excellent with all the facilities you could wish for including washing machine! Very comfortable bed slept really well. The room had two balconies with the sun on either one virtually all day, sunsets were amazing.
Hotel facilities were very good the spa area was under used and I was surprised that I couldn't get a massage the same day.
The dining room was very good with prompt attention from the matre de on arrival, food was very good with several choices which changed each day I always found something to enjoy, breakfasts were excellent with proper english back bacon and sausages although not keen on mushrooms cooked with vinegar, eggs your choice cooked fresh to order.
Overall I would be happy to return to Capitol Coast at this time of year or in late season.
Just one word of warning Cyprus is becoming quite expensive and the new money is very much Russian.

Our room was clean, beautiful and big. The breakfast was amazing. It is ideal for rest and spa. The location is ok, you need car to go to the town. We enjoyed our stay. One negative is that inside the room has no wireless connection (only at loby) and you have to pay for internet connection (not wireless).

We had booked this hotel at short notice due to a sad family event we attended in Cyprus. Although we had been informed that the hotel was wonderful, we were rather disappointed with the overall standard. The acoustics were terrible both in the room and in the reception area. We could hear our neighbours' voices through the walls and often were kept awake by the sound of other guests' TVs. The corridors were very bleak and every footstep outside could be heard. But the worst was the reception area. As no WiFi was available in the rooms, everyone wanting internet access had to congregate in the entrance hall which was cavernous and particularly the receptionists' loud conversations were very annoying. Matters were not helped by the staff vacuum-cleaning the lobby just after breakfast every day, whilst the use of a simple wide brush would have been much quieter and more efficient.

We were amazed that we were unable to buy a cup of coffee or a drink anywhere in this supposedly four-star hotel until 15.00 hrs. Although there were tea/coffee-making facilities in the rooms, there were no supplies provided at all. However, there was a small supermarket on site and a Lidl shop within 5 minutes' walk, but this should not have been necessary. Other problems included a strong smell of sewage in the ground floor corridors, sinks and showers that refused to drain away and bathroom fittings that came loose. The breakfast was adequate, but the so-called hot dishes were lukewarm and some had a strange flavour.

On the positive side, the rooms were very clean, well furnished and of good size and the bed was comfortable. The staff were generally very pleasant and helpful and one could take lovely walks by the sea directly from the hotel.

Room Tip: We were offered a so-called sea view room on the ground floor, but you had to go out onto the terrac...

Stayed in studio suite and was fine for our requirements. If less mobile then studio not ideal. Check in ok ( see below)

Hotel.
Is unsure to its position. Each room has basic to full self caterering facilities. All good standard but is different depending on room style or budget. This seems to be an attempt to fit all allowing for room only/ b&b/ hb, does all ok but could lead to confusion. Shower excellent. Cleaning and towel / bedding change all good. Tv in room has some uk channels. Staff in general very friendly. Dining room staff very busy but friendly and efficient. Maria in bar great.

Lost slightly as no food available after 2100. We were HB and arrived 2115 to be told closed. Yes we were late but....email sent two weeks before and week before identifying arrival time but no effort from reception. Hotel has a small mini market but closes 2030. I think a few vending machines would be a good service and money maker for the hotel.

Breakfast was excellent. Wide choice eggs all ways including omelettes to order. Tinned dry and fresh fruit. Various breads. Cereals. Daily potato sausages bacon beans etc on a rolling basis. Tea coffee juice from machine. Cold meats and cheeses. Pancakes or waffle with sweet and savioury pastries All buffet style.

Evening meal again buffet. Alway soup various salads and fresh bread. ( soups excellent). Mains two or three meat choice plus fish. Daily potatoe/ rice/ pasta selection of deserts. By mixing and matching we had a good meal each night.

We used the indoor swimming pool which was clean but a bit chilly. The jacuzzi and plunge pools need some tlc. Disappointing as this has received previous comments but no action as yet.

No sandy beach but good clean areas around pool and grassed areas to lay in.

Busses very good and cheap. We hired a car at airport and I would recommend this. Hotel is a bit isolated. This was our 10 year in cyprus at his time of year so car recommendation comes with experience

Current roadwork did not cause us any problems

In summery. We enjoyed the holiday and the hotel was good. Yes we would return

Studio is an attic room without fresh air. Skyline roof window was sealed with screws and metal plates. Not suitable for people with walking difficulties due to stair access from last floor. Manager told me to upgrade to balcony suites to get "fresh air" or leave the door in the hallway open (there were smokers on that floor). Stayed in March 2014 for 3 weeks.

My comments refer to studios only. Balcony suites appear good as can be seen from comments by other customers. Rocky sea front without any beach is acceptable if one likes that type of coast around this resort. Ground between sea and pool areas has been maintained well and pleasant.

The resort is located about 3 miles along the coastal foot path (last two miles paved) to harbour area and slightly shorter by road. Frequent local bus 615 available near Lidl supermarket just opposite the resort. Day pass Eu5 or week pass Eu15 on all buses within Paphos district from airport to as far as Polis. Single ticket Eu1.50.

I have no other complaint against resort. The staff are very friendly and pleasant. Studio room has one large pan and one frying pan; no microwave oven or milk pan. If I need small milk pan or microwave oven or "fresh air" with operable window, I was told to upgrade to a balcony suite at a supplement. This is my 5th visit to Paphos and never had this experience in Cyprus or at other countries. There are better value resorts available around Paphos and Coral bay

Room Tip: If you want this resort, go for south facing balcony suites. There are other very good value resorts...

Just been and really enjoyed it. Staff pleasant and very helpful, rooms of a good standard and food quality and choice all good. In a good spot to visit Paphos (50 mins walk along the sea front) and a regular bus service. Buss 615 passes approx every 15 mins and the fee is always E1.50 one-way! Take a steady walk to Paphos and enjoy a drink before heading back but you need a bus ride to higher up the coast at Coral Bay, which is a nice place to visit.

Go up into the old town too - visit Kava Café (just in front of the lift on the car park) for a nice snack and coffee.

Back to the hotel, very clean, nice rooms with a safe, TV (BBC and ITV channels too but a bit intermittent), two pools in and out, steam and dry sauna (in need a bit of a refurb) and plunge pools with jacuzzi also in need of some TLC. Restaurant is clean and tidy with good breakfast and evening meal choices.

There is internet, wifi is free in lobby but paid in rooms (if you can get it) but saying that, it's only E10 for the week so no big expense, so really could be free ;-)?

Had a really good and relaxing week and would go back anytime.

Room Tip: There is a Lidl at the top of the road so snacks and basic foodstuffs (if you not half board, etc) i...

Just returned from a week at the Capital Coast Resort & Spa hotel on B&B. The suite was fantastic, kitchen with cooker, dishwasher, microwave all the utensils/crockery/cutlery you would need even a washing machine. TV that had Sky Sports so watched both football and rugby whilst we were there, also English programmes. There is free Wi-Fi downstairs, I opted to pay for Wi-Fi access in the room, not extortionate but a bit hit and miss, kept having to continually login, more of a nuisance than anything else. Beautiful simple décor, lovely BIG bed with two bathrooms and a big balcony overlooking the pool and the sea that got the sun all day! Rooms cleaned daily.

All the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, the place was very clean and modern. Had an indoor pool/sauna/steam room which we could use for free and always intended to but never actually did, maybe next time :-) Breakfast was buffet style, plenty of choice with omelettes/eggs cooked on request. There are roadworks outside the hotel but these didn't affect our stay. A Lidl virtually across the road within walking distance, was very useful to stock up for the self catering part of the stay It was a lovely hotel and I would highly recommend it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
