My wife and I dropped by here based on the need to have a night off from the hotel food, the proximity of Metaxas to our hotel, the Elysium, and the rave reviews we'd read here.
First of all, Metaxas wasn't open on Sunday! Just be aware that unless we were very unlucky this isn't a 7-day a week restaurant. If we were very unlucky then I hope Stephanos will respond to this, but it would have been unfortunate if we'd made a trip especially to eat here.
That said it's well worth a trip to eat here; the food was excellent, the attention to detail and the friendliness were up there with the best and the only complaint was that the service was pretty slow. I think that perhaps the guys were not having a smooth night or perhaps the kitchen was a little understaffed that Monday. Please note that whilst the service was rather slow, the food was delivered at the same time for my wife and I, it was hot, it was beautifully presented and tasted rather yummy. There was just quite a gap between courses!
I had fish, my wife had lamb and we shared a chocolate / hazlenut meringue roulade to finish. It was actually supposed to be for my wife but the server brought an extra plate and spoon and it was simply too good to let her have all of the dessert!
An excellent choice and I thoroughly recommend it. I've had to drop the service down to 'good' because of the lengthy gap, however as stated every other aspect of the service was fine. Top class restaurant at very reasonable prices.
