Description: Lengo is a new concept in Meze eating. We cook local products using old and new recipes with our unique touch. Liver in Koumandaria, wild mushroom and green mix and eggs, cock in wine and pasta.... are only some part of the game. We treat ingredients with love and tender in order to give the most out of them.

“New Dimension to meze”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

A Traven far from the traditional. Mediterranean cuisine at it best! The staff is very friendly and chef Petros is the spirit of the tavern. Really good food and great wine list from local producers . Strongly recommended.

“Cypriot but with that something extra”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

Chef Petros adds his own 'je ne sais quoi' to give diners his very special take on Cypriot cuisine. He knows his Cyprus wines, too, and is happy to help his customers choose the best combination. Great evening out!

“The Ultimate Meze”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2014

A traditional taverna in terms of food, decor and ambience, set right in the heart of town (next door to Massiva). We went there this evening after reading an article in a local newspaper, which was fullsome in it's praise.

Our expectations were high and we were not disappointed. The welcome from chef/patron Petros Mavros and his staff was warm and effusive. Petros found time to sit at our table, chat with us and amuse the children. He explained that all the food is locally sourced, freshly prepared and cooked imaginatively in the kitchen. The wines are sourced from the Paphos region too.

We were aware that the restaurant does not have a menu as such, but were disappointed to find that we had a choice of 'just' meze and fish paella. The reason being that two of our party do not like meze and did not relish the fish paella. However, said two bravely ordered the meze, so that made four of us. The children had a choice of chicken or mini beefburghers, chips and salad...and went for the beef burgers, which were home made and nice, as were the chips.

Despite the fact that two of our party would never normally choose meze, the experience was quite different to mezes we have ordered previously. The pumpkin soup 'starter' and salad were simply divine, as were the imaginative and tasteful dips. The bread was home made and hot out of the oven. The succession of dishes which followed were a delight, with many tasteful and unusual twists to what can otherwise be a fairly mundane eating experience. Petros's meze is anything but mundane! For meze lovers, it is a sheer delight.

After our appetites were sated complimentary baklava was brought to the table. For coffee the choice was just Cyprus coffee or Nescafe. The latter is always a disappointing let-down, when so many nice filter and Italian variations are available...and which discerning diners demand nowadays.

It seems almost churlish to mention it (as this was such a wonderful dining experience) but ice cream was not available for the children's desserts, nor ketchup for the kids chips. Kids are not 'fine diners' and most like ketchup with their chips and ice cream for dessert. Nevertheless, the waitress kindly cored and sliced an apple for the children to keep them happy.

All in all this was one of the best meze dining experiences we have enjoyed in Cyprus, though the very limited menu, and the fact that two of our family do not care for meze, will greatly limit the likelihood of a return visit.

Thank you for your very kind words. I would like personally to point out that we might not have a list, menu like most restaurants do but this actually give us a total freedom to reinvent ourselves every day and surprise our customers and not only, we are open to orders, to people who would like to eat something really special. Let me put out an example, if you and your wife would like to have fresh salmon or sucking pig or a gluten free meal, or very nicely cooked fillet streak you just call us the day before and we prepare it for you. Our job is to give you high quality food YOU like at a good price, cooked with love and passion. You can also call us and simply ask, ... " what could you make for us tomorrow ? " We know what is fresh and in season in the market and we suggest you a menu. Yes we do have an issue with coffee ... well we had, not anymore, we got our coffee machine up and running and we can now do many more coffees. Thank you very much for this great review and we would love to see you back... Please give my regards to the kids.

“Cannot miss it !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2014

I have been taken today to this cosy and "unusual" place by my Cypriot customer. This taverna is located quite far away from the touristic area of Paphos. It has not many tables and the atmosphere is a mix between "revised tradition" and mysticism ( have a look to the "Last Supper" on the wall ! ). I really liked the way they cook and match the food. We were served a few dishes of vegetables ( spinaches, beans, aubergines, etc. ) cooked according to tasty recipes. The green salad with coriander, tomato and olives was very fresh. I found the homemade bread simply fantastic: a must to go with the different sauces served in small bowls once you take your seat. Then we were served probably the best calamari I have ever had ... so tender ... so tasty ! Congratulations to the chef. To be followed by some grilled prawns and finally a red snapper cooked in a pot with baked potatos and spices. Maybe the fish was a little bit over cooked. Finally I have to suggest ( if you eat in this taverna ) a very good wine which goes well especially with fish and shellfish : Xynisteri 100% by Tsangarides Winery. I wrote straight away my rievew because I do not want to forget about this place next time I am back to Paphos where mainly you find fast food or very touristic restaurants which offer a basic menu.
