“Excellent hotel offering the customer satisfaction in paphos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2010

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at this lovely hotel and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting a totally stress free break. All of the hotel staff could not have been more helpful or friendly and the cleanliness of the hotel is second to none. The food is exactly what you would expect from a 4 star hotel, lots of it and very well prepared and presented. The restaurant staff were all very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Room Service was also exceptionally good and value for money.

All in all, we had an excellent holiday and would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a totally relaxing holiday.

We will definitely be returning to the Athena Royal in the very near future.

My partner and I stayed here for a relaxing holiday, after what had been a difficult year. We had read the reviews on Tripadvisor, and this is the reason we booked this particular hotel and resort.
We were not disappointed, however, the only slight downside for me, was that there wasn't any WOW factor.
That said, we were totally happy with the accommodation and the hotel grounds, which were kept exceptionally clean. The food was extremely nice and plentiful and the staff were very friendly and attentive, even reception.
I had informed them on arrival that it was my partners birthday the following day, and they kindly decorated the door with balloons and streamers, and we were given a bottle of complimentary wine and fruit.
The spa area seemed to be used by a lot of residents, so would be advisable to book at the beginning part of the holiday to guarantee a slot.
Iwona & Joanna (I think) were brilliant, when my partner and I booked an Olive Oil massage including a head massage....... Well worth it, and felt totally chilled out afterwards.
Entertainment left a little to be desired, and it seemed to be aimed at the predominantly 60+ age group, however, I do think even they would have preferred it a little more lively. The singers were good, but more like background music.
The hotels position was near enough to the local bars and restaurants located a short walk away, however to get into Paphos town you could either take a 40 minute walk by the sea front (although this is unlit the whole way at night) or catch a cab. When we went the buses didn't work in the evening, but will do in Summer.
All in all, a great hotel and have come home throughly relaxed and de-stressed plus we were lucky enough not to have had any problems with the Volcanic Ash cloud.

We stayed at the Athena royal for 2 weeks in early May 2010. We had come to Paphos for our wedding (at the local town hall) and honeymoon.

This is a very good 4 star hotel, with many positives. The location is great for a relaxing, peaceful holiday - right on the seafront and a 20 minute walk to the busier harbour area. The service in the hotel was excellent - the staff are very friendly, polite and attentive. Special mention must go to the cleaners (did an excellent job), the shop attendent, the spa staff (especially Adriana), the reception staff, the bellboy and all the restauarant staff.

The hotel is kept to a very high standard and the rooms and floors were spotless. Staff would go out of their way to welcome you and say hello. Our room was ok - balcony was huge, and there was plenty of cupboard space. The only downside is we had a view overlooking the car park - and were kept awake most nights by the busy road. We were also dissappointed not to be upgraded to a sea view room as we'd booked the whole wedding & honeymoon package with Thomson.

The facilities at the hotel are excellent - 3 pools, 1 indoor pool (the water was lovely - like gliding through silk), table tennis, a gym and an excellent spa - which we made use of on several occassions.

The pool areas were lovely and there were always plenty of sunloungers to go round, none of this sunbed hogging that we have found when we've gone to Spain. The beach owned by the hotel is ok - nice enouhg to sit on, but a bit rocky for swimming. There is a nice beach 10 minutes towards the harbour - in front of the Aloe hotel.

The food was very good - at some meals the food was excellent, at others it was still the standard you would expect from a 4 star.

The only downside to the hotel was our room - a bit small for me to use on my wedding day - I had to use my in-laws room which had a bit more space to get changed into, and the busy road. Otherwise this is an excellent 4 star hotel, and I would definitely return to it again.

We loved Cyprus and would definitely visit again.

I had my hair done at the hotel for on my wedding day & can highly recommend the service here.

We stayed at this hotel for ten days in September 09. The hotel grounds are fabulous and plenty of sun loungers and shade. The breakfasts were excellent, with campagne if you wish. The evening meal was a buffet service and there was plenty of choice and something for everyone.

We booked on a bed and breakfast basis and on arrival booked evening meals for four nights, which worked out cheaper to do it this way. Because children under 16 years of age are not allowed at this hotel the peace and quiet was wonderful for us being in our early sixties. The swimming pools were lovely to get into on hot sunny days. Staff come round when you are relaxing around the pool, asking if you would like something from the bar, so you do not even have to get up from your sun lounger if you don't want to. There are also pool towels for you to use, so you do not need to take your own.

We have stayed in Paphos before and so knew some wonderful restaurants to go out for dinner on the other days that we were at the hotel. The staff are really helpful and friendly, the hotel is spotless. We booked a room with a sea view which overlooked the pool area, nice and quiet because as I stated before there are no children, we have had our turn of that!

The only downside is the evening entertainment, but you can always go to other hotels or bars for a drink if you wish. All in all a wonderful hotel and we are thinking of returning again this year, if not, definitely next year and in September too.

We've recently returned from the Royal Athena Beach hotel in Paphos after getting married whilst over there at Peyia Town Hall.

From the moment we checked in we recieved nothing but first class service. All the staff are friendly and can not do enough to help you. A special thanks to the hotel manager and assistant manager Demetris and Nicoletta for making our time at the Athena Royal at truly special one.

We didn't eat at the hotel every night but the nights we ate, the choice and quality of food was excellent and there were always choice of sunbeds for you to enjoy the sun too.

This is a adults only hotel and it's something the hotel is very strict on (My flowergirl had to wait in reception on the wedding day) so this is a perfect place to go if you want a relaxing time away without any children around.

On the day of our wedding the hotel brought up champagne and decorated our room with banners and balloons. On the morning after, the hotel laid on a champagne breakfast which could have fed 4! Nicoletta was always looking at ways to make our stay a truly special one!

The Athena Royal is on the main strip of Paphos with a few bars and restaurants opposite if you fancy a change. We organised for the wedding party to meet and eat at the Ocean Basket in Advanti Village one night who do excellent food and reasonable prices! It's best to prebook as the restaurant is popualr with locals.

Paphos Harbour is a short drive/taxi drive away.

Our only regret is not having enough time during our stay to take full advantage of the hotel facillities whilst there but we were getting married in Cyprus while on holiday and had a party of 35 to meet up with as well as meeting up with the wedding planner.

Overall, we were extremerly impressed with the standard and service and hope to return back to the Athena Royal in the near future.

One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in and if you want relaxation in an adult only environment then this is the place to come. plenty of sun-beds for everyone to enjoy both around the pools and on the grassed areas towards the beach.

The manager Dimitrios is an extremely friendly gentlemen, who wants to ensure everyone enjoys their stay with them, and this warmth and friendliness extends throughout entire hotel team including the front reception, Bar, restaurant and catering teams.
All very caring people with very nice pleasant personalities. Eva the bar manageress made a particular good impression on both my mother and wife, always sharing some exciting stories of the day with one another.

The hotel bedrooms are of good size and have tea and coffee making facilities within them and this certainly worked very well for us every morning before gong down to breakfast.

The food within the restaurant was also extremely good at both breakfast and evening meal times. A great selection of different and varied dishes throughout these times allowing a wide choice for everyone attending. (Do not think or worry about diets during your stay)

Excellent service, great hotel and a most wonderful relaxing break for us all.

This really is a quality hotel and lives up to its trip advisor reputation, Hotel staff incredibly helpful, room fine, although bathroom a little tired. Location superb. The breakfast arrangements were excellent, although the vaccum flasks of coffee on the table were a touch unusual. Make sure you seek out the freshly squeezed orange. Our only concern was the quality of the evening meal. Whilst there was lots of choice.. in our opinion the quality was a little lacking.
We would most certainly return to this hotel again..albeit on a bed and breakfast arrangement.
