“Absolutly Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2009

Have just got back from a wonderful holiday at AKTI VILLAGE all the staff were brilliant they all work so hard. Becky and Michaela the animators really got the crowd going. they're kids club is amazing they have worked so hard to improve it as well with rabbits called eli and herbert its colourful and the kids can do so much..... the Olympic rep wasnt as bad as what people made out he was ok just needs to be given a chance ... so if you get the chance go and visit the hotel or book a holiday its beautiful and there is lots to do day and night becky and michaela have lots to do for all ages but remember to join in with michaela's bingo chants as she tries so hard and they r quite funny... but anyway have fun whoever goes and i look forward to going back in september....

We have stayed at the Akti twice and loved it , they seem to get better with each year, the food is good qualitly , the service is brilliant and all the staff are really keen to help with any problems, they love children and make sure that you feel almost one of their friends without being to over familiar. The coast is full of rocky pools with lizards and offshore there is an interesting old wreak to look at in one direction and a lighthouse in the other. Apartments were spacious and clean.

Good location, spacious accomodation, passable entertainment and friendly staff. Lots of extras to pay for including safe, aircon and various offers to upgrade. Not a moan but travellers who are not aware will not have budgetted. Allow approx 10 Euros per day for a couple for aircon and safe, both in my opinion are a must. Beach is more of a pile of rocks but nice beaches within 5 min drive and also pool and lawned area good for sizzling like a sausage in the sun. Must eat at Fat Mamas and Sysyfos Rooftop restaurants, both on Tomb of the Kings Road. Must see Tomb of the Kings, Aphrodites Rock, Curium Ampitheatre, Aprhodites Bath, The Akamas and Caledonian Falls. Top tip, hire a car! Treat Cyprus as a place to explore and not somewhere to lie on a sunbed for two weeks and you will love it.

We stayed here back in April 2008, having stayed here many times before.
As a family we love the place; yes it's a little far out and a bit of a walk to the road, but that is a good point too.
A 20 min walk towards tomb of the kings and your near some good car hire places that are 50% cheaper than the rip off rep prices.

The rooms are basic, but I've always found them clean and they are cleaned on a regular basis.

The site itself is great for kids. A couple of good pools(both were very clean when we were there).

Entertainment and food wise, I can't really comment, as we prefer to go out and about.

Air con - agree with the posts here.

I'd definately recommend the place though, if only they got rid of the Olympic rep.

Anyway read on if you wish to hear our complaint which is more to do with Olympic and their rep and not the place as a whole.

We are currently in dispute with Olympic Holidays (not that they are taking much notice) regarding our trip.

I won't go into too much details as it would be war and peace, but basically the story includes, delays, cancelled flight to the next day, having to find our own hotel, lost baggage, no info from anyone, lack of support from olympic and to top it all, basically lies from the rep Chris at Olympic.

This guy has done nothing but lie about his help regarding the lost baggage. If you listen to him, he was superman, he did "[--] all". We basically told him what was going on, by Thomas Cook and my sister back in england finding out.
We even told one couple who also lost their bag which flight it would be on. 30 mins later Chris spoke to them and said that he was sorry no one knew where their bag was. They told him that we had told them which flight it was on and his reply was "well he knows [--] more than i do". Horrible man, who as reviews say here, is only there to sell trips and car hire. He is of no help at all.

Anyway, no apology from Olympic and quotes like "it is the clients responsibility to pursue the location of their baggage"

We got it eventually; aparently it went to Austria. We got it with 6 days of the holiday left. Can you imagine how a 72 year old woman feels with all her luggage missing!!!

The hotel apartments are fairly basic in the facilities they offer but are a great size (plenty of room for my little boy to crawl around) and were cleaned every day (apart from Weds the cleaner's day off, as this is a handover day, but we still managed to get our bins cleared etc).

Staff are really helpful - anything we needed was done.

The restaurant was run by Mr George and him and his staff always had a smile and were ready to chat to us. The breakfast in the morning was good and very relaxed (they didn't try to push you out dead on 10am as others do).

Pool areas again were great. Lovely grassed area to relax on. The entertainment was the usual stuff (french boule, archery etc), but not too intrusive at all. If you wanted to relax you could.

Facilities for kids were good, even out of season. There was a dedicated kids room and play area which my little boy loved whenever we needed to get him into the shade.

The only downside is it is a bit of a walk to the main road to get the bus into Paphos and we preferred it on the days we hired a car. The short cut on the coast road, was not really a pleasant walk - more of a dirt track.

Overall we have just returned from a really nice holiday and one we would recommend to others.

Having read a number of reviews prior to our arrival I have to say that whilst they are personal opinions, the more negative are a little unfair.

The Akti Beach Tourist Village is a medium sized complex consisting of two story units that contain both studio and apartment accomodation. We were particulary fortunate enough to be allocated room 710 which overlooks both the pool area and the sea very close by.

As previously stated by other travellers, the public areas were very clean, pleasent and staffed by helpful and knowledgable individuals. Our room was also to a very reasonable standard with regard to both furnishings and cleanliness.

The complex is a little off the beaten track but is that such a bad thing? A short bus ride at a cost of 1 Euro 50 quickly transports you to nearby Paphos in one direction or Coral Bay in the other, if that's your craving!

A word of warning if you intend to hire a car...........Do it in the UK before you fly. Car hire companies in the area, as with most other things in life, have now perfected the art of 'ripping off the british tourist'. A definate NO NO, hire a car from the 'Rep' Chris. This man should be replaced as the Olympic representative at the earliest oportunity. His interest is purely cash, how much can he extract from you in terms of over priced car hire and trips!

Overall, a great break for those wishing a relaxing holiday in very nice pleasent surroundings. Would I return, you bet I would......... Enjoy.

Just returned from Atki beach, arrival at the reception even though lots of arrivals, calmly and clearly checked in with a smile and assistance from the staff. Our studio was better than we expected, typically Greek style with heavy pine furniture, two single beds, fridge and two ring cooker/oven, plenty of plates and cutlery etc. Clean and cheerful bathroom although the window opened onto next doors balcony, no problem we closed the window. Balcony two chairs and a table that looked a little tired. Overall for what we paid very good. The pool area's are clean and well maintained, poolside bar was manned by cheerful and helpful staff, happy hour 15:30-16:30 each day. Plenty of activities Boules Archery if you want to try them. Food in taverna and restaurants very good (massive portions). Try the open smoked salad rolls (stunning). Happy hour in main bar 18:00 - 20:00 each night and evening entertainment if you so desired.
A good twenty minute walk up a fairly steep hill to the Tomb of the Kings road passing one bar that shows Sky sports and a restaurant and bus stops into Paphos or Coral Bay. You can leave via a gravel path by the pool which is shorter and gets you nearer to Paphos but would definately reccomend a torch.
Buses at 1 Euro and 50 Cents every 15 mins to Paphos harbour /Market and the other way to Coral bay.
Leave bus at KFC on route into town for a good selection of bars of which Fat Mama's is packed every night, also Chinese Japanese Italian Greek restaurants too much to list. The harbour area also has many restaurants and a really nice walk along the front.
The reception staff are very good all speak good english, you can change sterling here but the exchange rate is fairly low.
Check out is helped by being able to keep the room till midday, i suggest you return the safe key and settle your phone bill (surpriingly cheap calls to the UK from the room 60 cents a minute, cheaper than a mobile) about 11:00 o clock to beat the queue at 12:00, all you do is hand your key in.
Good holiday Cheap and cheerful no frills but quality.
