Firstly on arrival we were given our room which was terrible, as we were 4 full paying adults having to sleep on camp beds was just not acceptable. .complained to reception to be told by an abrupt arrogant female there was nothing she could do!! Room was covered in ants and the odd couple of lizards. Pool was good tho, best part of hotel until all the russians came in and tried to take over..not for long!! Please be aware the indoor pool is not manned therefore a massive safety risk if kids running abt, my mum fell in the jacuzzi as there were no signs to say there was a step down. .crippled abt for the last 5 days! Also janette the jet 2 rep was no help to us when we went to her for advice. She recommended theos shop opposite debenhams on the harbour for cigarettes which we bought 9,600 and only when we got home did we realise he conned us, instead of sleeves of 200 they were 160!!! It is in the hands of trading standards tho. .please stay away from him he is a crook..good job we never noticed whilst still in cyprus or he would of known all abt it..food terrible cater more for russians. Chenise the entertainment staff was fab she really does work and fo her best..u could do better than being in there..would defo not be back..

Just got back from 2 weeks all inclusive at the Akteon holiday village. This was the 2nd time we have been to Cyprus and chose the Akteon based on price and tripadvisor reviews and hand on heart this was the best holiday we have ever had and will be happy to go there again in the future. Because we relied on the traveller reviews so much it's only fair to write a comprehensive one our self so you know why we rated it so highly.
Flights: 4.5 hour delay flying out from Glasgow on Jet2 which really wasn't a great start to the holiday, first it was 'Paphos airspace is busy' then 'engine problem'. Couldn't be fixed so had to bring another plane from Manchester airport. Very relieved to finally take off!
Room: We had a first floor 1 bedroom apartment and it was absolutely spot on, separate air conditioning to the main living area and bedroom. There was a kitchenette, TV (8ish channels), safe, bathroom with bath and shower. It was very clean, a good size, very light, a bit basic but beds were comfy enough - only downside was you only get 1 pillow!
Hotel: Airport transfer took about an hour but that was due to the amount of hotels in Paphos itself as the coach wound it's way through the town dropping people off. You get dropped off about 100m from the main entrance but it's a tarmac road so no problems walking with your suitcases. The Akteon is in quite a large site, there's the main restaurant, 2 bars, spa, indoor pool, mini market (which is well stocked), laundry, gym (looks good in the photos but is incredibly short on equipment or weights). There are lots of apartments spread out, the ones with a pool view might be problematic at night if you have very young ones as they are in direct line of sight of the evening entertainment and it can be loud. Any with a sea view are nice, ours overlooked a garden area which was very picturesque. The hotel it is right on the coast but it's rocky cliffs, there's no sandy beach - nearest one is Coral bay which isn't far away if you're after a beach, apart from scuba diving one day we stayed in the hotel for the whole 2 weeks, the pool is very big (and warm) and there are plenty of sunbeds.
As we were all inclusive we ate all our meals in the restaurant or had bar snacks, drinks were available from 10am - 11.50pm as were ice creams (many of these were happily consumed!), the service staff are really friendly and speak English well. There is a wide choice at breakfast and there is a different theme to the food every night, it was only lunchtimes where the choice was a bit limited and repetitive but the bar menu cured that!
Entertainment: Yanis (Mr Crazy), the gorgeous Justine and the beautiful Channyse do a great job, there is no pressure though - if you don't want to join in then they won't make you. During the day is volleyball, water polo (More like water rugby for the adults) but then a separate children's version afterwards! There's also pool, darts, bowls. In the evening there is a children's mini disco, bingo (Never played it before but came away quite addicted) then comedy, cabaret, games, singing or dancing - there's something different every night and it's nice to relax and knock back some cocktails whilst being thoroughly entertained (You've got to see the fire breathing and Channyse doing Titanic!)

Room Tip: Next to the pool can be noisy at night, balconies on these rooms were 1/2 the size of others. First...

Overall had a fabulous holiday at the Akteon Village. stayed 4-18 august.
Positives:
- hotel clean, tidy and as presented in the professional photos (and guest photos) on this site
- rooms cleaned and linen and towels changed more regularly than we were told.. virtually every other day which was fab!
- wide choice of food at every meal with different theme every night, pool bar available for burgers, chips, toasties and jacket potatoes throughout the day.
- large pool with kiddy pool and volleyball pool helped keep numbers down and no overcrowding.
- wonderful sea view and fabulous garden setting with beautiful flowering shrubs - idyllic!!!
- helpful staff, from reception through restaurant, chambermaids and entertainment staff. totally flexible problems resolved quickly.
- good kids club with lovely fun staff kept my 8 & 12 year old occupied on several days.
Negatives:
- having been 4 star all inclusive elsewhere was disappointing that there was so much on the pool bar menu that was outside all inclusive. icecreams very limited and could have been more choice of food and different drinks within the all inclusive offer.
- the complex has a problem with ants!! ants present in our apartment for the whole stay, got worse towards the end. when any food in the apartment seemed to bring them swarming! to be fair as we were not self catering and not much if any food in the apartment, didnt report this as a problem as they seemed to be all over the place... just accepted it. but if it had got much worse would have had to complain.
- air conditioning was a bit ropey in one of the rooms, was fixed once but then broke down and we ended up having to move apartments for last few days, but that was not really a big issue. very responsive staff.
- could be more choice of food as standard for the children - didnt realise we could ask for something to be rustled up to the kitchen until i read other reviews on tripadvisor when i returned!
- entertainment was good - you could join in or not, but felt it all started to late in the evening. adult entertainment starting from 10pm... most nights we were done in and kids struggling to stay awake! fire eating and comedy night were the best.. kids disco and bingo.. not our thing at all so ..... drinks on our apartment balcony were the order for most nights given there isnt much entertainment wise local to the hotel. drove into coral bay of an evening which was lovely but obviously limited the ability to have alcohol.
would have liked to have had more greek style food available .
enjoyed our stay and if i went back to Paphos would consider staying here again. good value overall.

Room Tip: sea view first floor apartment is a must!

Lovely executive suite. Could not fault. Only down side and why i have rated it a 4 is because there was very minimal for vegetarians on the menu. Food was not to my taste as was no tasty veggie option. Hotel was spotless. Lovely suite next to the pool. Had a balcony. Was not too far from the place to be in paphos. We went as a group so shared taxi fares. Found a lovely taxi driver and just booked him all the time. Used the bus too.

I stayed here with my husband & two boys (12,16)
We cannot thank the staff enough for making our 2week break such a success, this is our 4th time we've visited Cyprus & this is by far the best holiday we've had on the island.
A big thank you also goes to shaneece &mr crazy who worked tirelessly doing the entertainment.
The room we had was cleaned every day with fresh towels provided.
If you have any dietary requirements or fussy children just ask the catering manager and he'll ask the chief to cook up your request.
We are already looking to book for next year, we enjoyed our stay that much.

Room Tip: Request sea view
