Very new, only open three weeks or so and it shows – very much. Well as a resort complex it is actually nowhere near finished, perhaps in this economic climate there is pressure on all new businesses to generate income and so the Amphora is already taking guests even though the lifts and such are not operating, two of the housing blocks are being completed and the underground parking area is a truly messy builders yard. However, it is not all negative by any means. For a start the price is very reasonable in fact too little for a place of this potential caliber, but the price should be low for now as some spaces look like prison yards and many of the planned facilities are not available. The concept of several apartment blocks of two or three floors is quite pleasing as well as it being great fun to be driven to ones room on a golf cart! The beach is a ‘Paphos’ beach, none of which are particularly pleasing. This one however is a small semi-private cove, fun if you are a good swimmer and they do eventually do something about the piles of winter seaweed. The beach shelves rather quickly, yet the hotel does have two pools including one for children. There is builders dust every where, I made the mistake of placing my leather holdall on the reception floor. Our room was very pleasant and clean with a seriously large balcony overlooking the pool. The bathroom fitments are excellent as are the offered toiletries. The staff were willing and polite. We are glad we went and would do so again – but not this year! When the roads are surfaced, the housing blocks and the grounds completed (and if they maintain sensible pricing levels) I can not see why anyone would not enjoy being there. However I suspect it will continue to be favoured by the young and agile and perhaps some of the young at heart.
