I went to Pafos for a holiday looking forward to a rest and Cypriot food. When I got there I was very disappointed to find that the majority of food establishements (and there are a number of different varieties) provided food that was aimed at 'English' clientel! Many restaurants offered all day breakfasts and the traditional English food. On our first night we went for a stroll to try and find a local restaurant that did good food and, lo and behold, just on the outskirts of Pafos we found Le Classique and the owner Christos Kokkinos. He, and his staff, were brilliant in every respect. They had a couple of dishes on the menu that were vegan and they said come in and they would make what we wanted. The food that turned up was exceptional in every respect. We ate there every night of our holiday and Christos and his team made food for us every night. The menu was both varied and very well presented and we both had great difficulty finishing the variety of dishes put before us. The cost of the meal, together with a bottle of excellent red wine from Cyprus was abot £35. We spent many a happy evening there eating and chatting to Christos and we found out that he had spent nearly 40 years running restaurants in Paris and had been commended for his work there.
I would encourage everyone to go there and experience the food and the welcome. All Christos's team treated us wonderfully and it is certainly a place where you can have a wonderful meal in a romantic atmosphere and take children with you if you have them. I cannot recommend this wonderful restaurant and the staff highly enough.
To conclude, I left my glasses at a friend's house and the card for the restauarant was in the case. He did not recognise them as mine but he did know that I had just come back from Pafos. He said that Le Classique was his favourite restaurant in the world and he would go to Pafos just to go to Le Classique
