“Would have been an excellent review but........”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

We stayed at the Tasmaria last week, and were bowled over by the location - on a direct bus route that takes you to the harbour in one direction (about 5 mins on the bus) or Coral Bay the other way (about 20-25 mins) at a cost of 1 Euro single or 3 Euros for a day pass..
The apartments have obviously recently been renovated as they were in excellent condition, newly painted and Im pretty sure the cooker was brand new.
What spoiled it for us was that for 3 out of the 7 days we were woken at 8am with hammering coming from workmen working on the floor below us. On the second day not only did it start at 8am but they were still going at nearly 7pm at which time i had had enough. When I went to reception to speak to the manager he said that the cold winter and then warmed temperature had caused floor tiles to lift and they needed to hammer them out to replace them. His idea of a "solution" was for us to put up with the noise for another hour, and they would be quieter the next day - not much of a solution as far as we were concerned and I would have expected better (ie offer to stop work that day given it was 7pm and starting later in the morning).TO be honest couldnt be bothered to take it further as by this time it was the second to last day of the holiday but dont expect good customer service from the manager. Incidentally if you choose a garden view you will probably get a view of disused land with building materials dumped on it, not my idea of a garden view.............

Room Tip: Pick a pool view!!

The family hotel itself was lovely, with typically basic rooms for such a hot country, gorgeous pool area and relaxing bar area. The hotel itself is set back though off the road and relaxing by the pool you are totally away from the karaoke and full English breakfasts.
The restaurant serves good food, fair prices.
lovely place , very friendly staff ,helpfull too , very chill out , well needed rest Would return. Can't wait to return Our room was basic but clean. Daily housekeeping and towels 2 day exchange..
Tombs of the Kings archaeological park 5 minutes walk.
The famous Paphos Mosaics 15-minute walk.
The catacombs are a 5-minute walk.

The hotel itself was lovely, with typically basic rooms for such a hot country, gorgeous pool area and relaxing bar area. The hotel is right in the new town, with lots of cafes and bars that are reminiscent of a typical English style holiday resort. The harbour is about a 20 minute walk and if you prefer, this part is much more picturesque. The hotel itself is set back though off the road and relaxing by the pool you are totally away from the karaoke and full English breakfasts. It is cheap to hire a car from the businesses across the road and easy to explore the other parts, such as the old town and little Cypriot villages. The staff were helpful, but unfortunately sometimes the help came with an attitude, which was more than uncomfortable when asking for anything from directions to calling a taxi. Aside from this the holiday was fun, relaxing and pleasant.

For the past 35 years we have been holidaying in Paphos and for the last 10 staying in the superb Diamond villas in Chlorakas, owned by a lovely Cypriot family.Unfortunately my wife died suddenly Easter week,so after the funeral i went on my 1st ever holiday on my own.A local bar owner, who i have known for years, told me about Tasmaria. He said it was clean, friendly and good value for money.HOW CORRECT HE WAS!!From arriving to coming home Tasos and his staff made my stay brilliant. The staff are attentive and friendly but not in your face. The rooms are basic but have everything you need for an enjoyable holiday. The site is next to the main bus stop and taxi rank but far enough back from the road so as to be very quiet.Within a 5 minutes walk you have 20/30 restaurants/bars to suit all tastes and pockets. The clientel have been coming back here for years which is always a good sign.Have booked 2 more hols. in 2013 and can't wait to get back.OH and did i mention the staff!!

we have recently come back from a 3 week stay at the tasmaria.we were over for a family wedding and stayed at the tasmaria on recommendation of friends of ours.we were not disappointed.the hotel was clean and the room had all our requirments.the pool area was nice and well kept. the surrounding area has plenty of bars and places to eat and only being about 20 minutes walk from the harbour.the staff we found very helpful and were on hand for any problems.if anybody wants a relaxing hol this is the place to come.thanks to all the staff for making us feel so welcome and by the way nico spurs are still the best

Room Tip: rooms in the main building are quieter at night.

We stayed here because of a late night flight into Paphos and a long drive to Farmagusta. We arrived late into the hotel to find the most basic of apartments. The wife was shocked by the level of comfort offered, it was basically a room with two small beds and some kitchen and lounge furniture found in free ads. It was in no way comfortable and couldn't wait to leave the very next morning. On the plus side the pool looked reasonable and the staff were helpful. But I would spend the money and stay somewhere else in future. If nothing else just too save the headache from the wife
