“Can't Fault It”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013 via mobile

The Kef is in an ideal location. Close to the Kings Tombs if you like historical sites if you lie that sort of thing.
Only a five minute (max) walk to the nearest mini-market on the corner, and only a minute more to many restaurants with a varied choice of menus to suit most tastes. There's an "irish bar" close bar where the staff are very friendly, service is very good and the food varied, edible and reasonably priced. Entertainment on several nights.
The rooms at the Kefalonitis are kept clean by the staff and although basic are comfy and more than enough for what you need. Ted the night man is great. Very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. The pool is a good size and well kept and theres a snackbar which also serve alcoholic drinks night and day.
My wife and I stayed there June 2012. Would we go Back?? YEP,, Would i recommend it absolutely!
Thanks Ted and the Kef for a good holiday

Well where do we begin. Myself Craig and my wife Dawn are just back after a wonderful week staying at the Kef. We came out once again for my birthday as we did last year staying in room 223. We have to say the apartment was ideal, very spacious & clean over looking the pool area. The pool is a nice size and very clean with plenty of sunbeds & umbrellas. The poolside bar is open all day for drinks and snacks. Anna & Monica work in the poolside bar and make a good brandy sour as we had several after a few heavy nights.
The owner Nicos was there when we checked in as he does the daytime shift and throughout the week if there was anything we needed we just had to ask as it wasn't a problem to him. The bar inside at night is run by Ted who also runs the reception and is the friendliest and most helpful guy you will ever meet as he is everybody's pal. When we arrived into the Kef at night after being out for a meal he would be at the bar with other guests getting ready to pour the brandy sours. We met friends past and present and had many good nights at the bar. The pool bar wasn't opened at night as yet however we would like to mention that when it does open in the summer it is run by Ted's wife Helen who like Ted makes you feel welcome and will look after you at the bar .
Thank you and well done everyone for helping us have another fantastic holiday. See you again soon. Yammas.

Me and my other half stayed here for a long weekend 19th April - 23rd April 2013 and had a nice relaxing few days. We arrived at 11.30pm in the evening not knowing how we would be greeted this late - dont worry Ted (our favourite scottish barman) was there to welcome us he works from 9pm to 5am, he showed us to our studio which was basic but clean and spacious. We dumped the case and went straight to the bar and stayed there til about 02.30am as we felt really welcomed. The appartments have an outside swimming pool (it was a bit cold due to time of year but usable) which was very clean as was the poolside area, there is also an indoor pool, gym, sauna which look pretty ok as well. We tended to go and have a meal in the evening, go to O'neils Bar around the corner for a couple, but always ended up in the hotel bar, I really cant say enough how welcome you are made to feel by Ted and if you cant see your drink at this bar then he will alway run to the other bar and get a bottle. These appartments are off the Tomb of The Kings Road opposite Fat Mama's - food is really good but the floor show every 15 mins does not give you the nice relaxing dinner feeling (unless you like this kind of american entertainment whilst eating). Home Farm is excellent, try the house red its very good and beware the portions on your plate are massive.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony poolside

Well! Here we are again, back home after another 3 weeks in Cyprus at the Kefalonitis Hotel Apartments in Paphos.

When we arrived, the Hotel was still shut for the winter renovations, due to open on 1st April, but Nicos, generous as ever, had said we could still go, so hubby and I duly turned up on 20th March.

What a lot of work had gone on since they had closed in early November. Nicos had been working tirelessly on various projects. Outside painting as far as we could see on all the buildings. Inside, complete renovations on over 40 apartments.Lots of new slab work round the main reception entrance and poolside areas and striking new sign work over the front door. All the garden areas had been tidied up, pruned and replanted where needed. The empty pool was thoroughly cleaned, this took a few days, we watched progress from our balcony! and then refilled, this also took a few days, such is the size of it.The maids had also started work with over 100 apartments to spring clean and get reay for the reopening, they also found time to come to us on a daily basis, cleaning, changing sheets and bringing clean towels.Everything had been done to Nicos's high standards.

Our family came out to join us a week after we arrived and they too were welcomed as we had been. They took their young family out for trips to the Zoo and the mini golf. the local beach and the harbour to look for the pelican and crabs!

The weeather was variable, but that is to be expected for late March, early April, we still had plenty of warm weather and came home with good suntans (except the children who had plenty of high factor ceam on).

It was a little sad to see a few more empty restaurants and shops but the Cypriots have horrendous money problems to deal with. Some restaurants had remained open all winter as usual and these we made good use of during our three weeks stay, food wonderful. Some more had started their clean ups and will by now be open I would imagine.

To return to the money problems, we took english sterling notes with us and found it just as easy as ever to change them into euros. Usually we went down to the harbour shopping area to do this and the shops that also doing money exchange were all open and willing to exchange our cash..

The bus from the harbour to the Old Town and Coral Bay is still running and still 1 euro. Our eldest granddaughter loved the Coral Bay beach and delighted in doing 'sand angels'.

So! what else is there to say, The Kef is still as good as ever, Ted is still on night duty and I believe Helen will eventually run the evening bar when the seaon gets going. I couldn't see any real problems for tourists, prices are probably slightly up, but where aren't they. The pplside food and bar should be up and running by now, open for breakfasts and then food and drink all day though to 4pm ish, then the bar (either by the pool or inside reception dependant on the time of year) till the early hours.

We can't wait to go back in the autumn, we love Cyprus and the Kef and all the people so much.

My husband and I stayed at the kefalonitis in September 2012 .we travel abroad 2 or 3 times a year but this is the worst apartment we have stayed in 20 years of foreign holidays . It is a dated 70's Hi -Di-Hi holiday camp without pleasant staff .By fare the worst experience of rude bad mannard bar staff especially the 50 something English women who has a constant scowl on her face and slammed the food orders on the table like its not her job . .good points large apartment and very clean ashame the pool area is fithy .the sun beds date back to the 70 's rusty and dirty ..The whole place is a big disappointment as its an old dated dump ..

I went in October with my mum we went for 1week. The apartments were very clean, big and spacious, beds were clean and comfortable. The one problem was the air-con, you could either have it on in the main living room or the bedroom but not both! So temps got high when getting ready of an evening. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment it was lovely. But then again I believe most places you have to pay for the air on in Cyprus so we were pleased this came with price of hotel.

Balcony was nice we were overlooking the front of the hotel. I would definitely recommend these apartments if you want a cheap get away close to everything!

If you walked out the hotel and turned right, you have a 1 minute walk to tombs of the kings road, were all the bars and restaurants are. Fat mamas is a MUST! It's to die for. We went self catering so ate out every night the food was lovely and not as expensive as we were told.

There was a bus which cost 1euro and it took you everywhere. Down to coral bay the beach and all the way to the harbour. On our first day we reckied around and walked into the old town - this was about an hour walk but was nice as we found our bearings that way. Would advise it for elderly as very steep hills to climb.

We ate out at the harbour and spent a lot of time that way it was lovely but more expensive than tombs of the kings.

Overall I would definitely return and would recommend to everyone to stay here its cheap and cheerful.

Oh we also did the waterpark, very pricey for what it was. There was some good large slides and lots for kids but was dead, We spent an hour there tops and came home. Was quite quiet in oct and relaxing, would return in a heartbeat.

Stayed here in July 2012, for the price this was good value for money. Apartment was clean, spacious, with a small kitchen. Only drawback was the air con. It was operated by a piece of moulded plastic that you put in a slot, there was only one of these so you can only have air con in the bedroom or the living room, not both. We asked for another plastic thing but were told no, the cost of 2 air con units running was too expensive! Pool area was nice with beds always available. Good location for tomb of the kings road but think I'd find somewhere closer to harbour if I went to Cyprus again as this was a much nicer area. The gym is a joke, tiny sweat box with 3 ancient machines. However, a comfortable stay with all the basic amenities you need.
