“Family holiday”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2014

Just got back from 11 day holiday. Arrived late at night The front reception staff (Stan) was very helpful had a laugh with us even though it was quite late. Sandwiches provided on request and staff made sure we were aware that the bar was still open . The bedrooms were a bit basic but were clean and tidy with nice fresh towels and sheets the down side mattress was like a brick . When I asked for extra pillows these were delivered within 30 minutes.
Lots of sun lounges no need to get up too early sufficient shade if you need it. Lovely lawned area with more loungers and shade. The pool can get a bit full and limited space at the swim up bar.
Most staff members were pleasant some forgot to smile but worked very hard the food was very very repetitive during our stay went out for some meals just to break it up a bit . The evening entertainment is really non existent . You get asked very politely to join in during the day if you decline it's not a problem. The spa is a must lovely treatments provided these I would recommend, also have a go at aqua aerobics in the morning excellent workout.
A few suggestions please get some comfortable seating for outside and mattresses on the sun loungers would help immensely. The hotels outside BBQ was sadly never used as was the coffee area inside.

Room Tip: If your rooms overlook the pool aqua aerobics commence at 09.00 music on quite loud

Just got back after a week staying at the Crown Resort Horizon, 2 adults, 2 children all inclusive. How Thomas Cook can categorise this hotel as a 4* obviously have never stayed and are blinkered. The Hotel is dirty and unclean. The food is the same day in, day out lunch and dinner. The drinks are poor. The room was laughable, how a room that holds 2 single beds pushed together and 2 sofa beds crammed up against the wall and patio doors be classed as a family room is beyond me. If you don't set your alarm for 7am to reserve sunbeds, you will have no chance of staying by the pool. The pool area is untidy, the water is not filtered throughout the day therefore by midday it is like walking into a bath. The staff are unfriendly and unhelpful. Do not pay to upgrade your room to a sea view else you won't sleep until 2am, due to the noise on the street. The children's entertainment is non existent, even though it's supposed to be an ideal family resort. Our towels and bedding were not changed for 7 days and when we asked to change our pool towels they had ran out! Personally I would not stay here again and pay the extortionate price it cost for a family of 4.

Room Tip: Do not upgrade to a sea view room on the front as it is very noisy.

My partner and I stayed here for a week all inclusive and found the hotel to be nice and clean.

We found there to be a lot of elderly people in the hotel so of you're looking for a party every night them I would go elsewhere. The room we stayed in had two beds pushed together rather than a double which was a bit uncomfortable but we were otherwise happy with the room.

The food was varied and hot and there seemed to be something for everyone. The waiting staff were attentive but service with a smile was lacking.
The bar staff were very different and smiled and chatted which was lovely!

The pool area had an adequate number of sun loungers around it but we were there out of high season so I imagine it gets very busy.

The entertainment was not interesting to us as it included bingo and karaoke but we just went out each evening to the local bars. Those that took part in the activities seemed to enjoy
them though.

My only complaint would be that the night concierge at the front desk made an offensive comment when we engaged him in conversation. He was from South Africa and although he was very sincere in his opinion we were very offended by his reference to the black South Africans. We did not complain to the hotel and chose to put it down to age and ignorance, however it left a slightly bitter taste in our mouths (it was on our second night!)

Overall I would recommend this hotel as a clean, quiet corner in which to stay and explore from. The beach is a bit of a walk away so bear that in mind if you're after one close by - the distances stated are probably correct but in the it sun it can feel a lot further!

it says crown resorts but more like a hotel.. entertaiment anyway its almost non existent . The swimming pool by midday you have to fight for space…even though hotel didn't seem extremely busy for august . Food, predictable and as the thai people say ''same same!'' every day We stayed in a double bedroom inland view.. spacious i must say though time for update should have been some 5-6 years ago .. bed mattress rock hard .. good if you are a young couple … corridor getting you to the room, midday and afternoon as soon as you came from the lift, the smell of food or old carpet or i don't know, unbearable!!! Staff mostly eastern Europeans, very hardworking and helpful,, i guess a management let down.. 2 star hotel more that the claimed 4 star , sea beach , very nice, 5 mins walk , shops very close , internet overly expensive at the hotel or you could buy 2 cocktails and a ice cream (around 14pounds ) in the nearest shops for 4 euros to get free internet…cheaper to get it from your mobile provider in the uk

Room Tip: don't pay extras for ''seaside view'' ..its high up and around 500 m from...

Stayed here for a week in August and it was great, fantastic value for money, the only downside I can say is you have to pay for the wifi, other than that it's all good, pool is lovely, location is great, food - great choice even for a fussy eater like me, all inclusive is great free booze from 10am till midnight, all round great holiday

Stayed here a few years ago and couldn't believe how bad it has got, the ground especially were overgrown and badly needing landscaped, restaurant looked like it hadnt had a good scrub in a long time. Rooms were spacious and cleaned every day, maids were very good. Food was ok for AI always something you could eat. The bar man at pool bar very pleasant and worked hard to please everyone also the young lad. Always went out at night so can't comment on entertainment apart from it was a small area where it took place, got a good deal on this holiday and would do it again for the handiness of staying in coral bay.

Room Tip: Make sure your not overlooking the back where deliveries cone in, can be noisy in the morning.
