We have just returned from our holiday at the above location. We requested and paid for a 4 star hotel. What a joke!!! I would give this hotel a 2star plus. It is apparently, being 'down graded' on the 1st October to a 3star. (the First Choice rep adviced us)
Good points, our 4yr old son loved the kids club, the food is also very good and the rep from First Choice was understanding.
Poor comments:- The pool area is very grubby, over half of the umbrellas do not work. Most rooms had infestation of ants. on the grassed area, there are rusted metal pipes protruding and the first you realised it's there is when you injure yourself walking /stepping onto them.
We spent much of our time in the 'George Gardens' hotel next door. Where the staff can not door enough for you, it's a genuine 4 star and costs the same as Eleni (cheaper if your self catering) We will be going there next April.

17 family and friends have just returned from the elini, 2 weeks middle of sept for my daughters wedding, we had a wonderful time paid full price for a 4* to make sure we could get in for the wedding but would rate it a 3* the rooms were very clean and cleaned 5 days out of 7, there is a small kitchen in the room with kettle, toaster, fridge, and cooker. there was problem with ants in all 5 rooms we had, just asked for a can of spray at reception that helped a lot. food in restuarant is lovely but had same menu 2nd week, you can get burgers, hot dogs, toasties, chicken nuggets and jackets all with lovely chips and salad served by the pool bar if you prefer 10am-12.30pm and 3pm-5.30pm. also what ive not come across at all inclusive before is all but 2 of cocktails on drinks menu is included that made a nice change, pool great for kids very shallow one end, entertainment by neli and rio they was great and we all got on with them darts, pool, volley ball etc in the day time bingo and quizes etc night time, did miss the evening walks as hotel is a bit far away from everything, bus stop for day trips to phapos or coral bay is a 5min walk away, if you want football or a nice meal away from the hotel all the lads in our party say tixies opposite laura bay hotel is the place to go. couple supermarkets close by, all the staff at the hotel were brill they did us proud for the wedding just a shame not closer to town, kate first choice rep was great and very helpful, overall had a great holiday and beautiful wedding. if you can get in this hotel with a bargain its worth it just not full price that we paid.

We arrived at 10.30 p.m. our 1st impression was room excellent, plenty of room for the four of us, the pool looked excellent shame about the rest. You shouldnt put paper down the toilet but no one came to empty the bins or clean rooms on Sundays and Wednesdays - not very hygenic in the hot weather.
We stayed here for 2 weeks july/august :- 1st week was OK all very repetitive, butlins type entertainment, bingo, karaoke, disco , waterpolo, darts, ping pong though Rio tried his best on his own with 'Nellie' who was 19 ish girl just looking to improve her english.
However by the 2nd week all changed at hotel, bar staff became not very friendly only allowed to order 2 drinks at a time, they ran out of whiskey one night at 10.00 p.m.
George at the pool bar was OK but the rest of the bar staff were an obnoxious lot. They're doing you a favour by being there!
The lovely pool which was the cleanest and warmest we have ever experienced started off lovely but unfortunately during the second week all swimmers endured an epidemic of ear infections, Neither the Hotel Management nor the Reps would hear a bad word against their pool! Guests were sharing cabs to the local Medical Centre for treatment as the epidemic didn't warrant a doctor coming out?
In Summary - the best thing about the Eleni is that it's in Cyprus and the weather was great.
The downpoints of Eleni are too many to mention. Suffice to say, if I was to win a Free 2 week holiday there, I'd give it to my Mother in Law!

Never, never again.
I need a Holiday to get over the Experience!

We have just returned from two weeks all inclusive at the Eleni. Having booked a four star accommodation, we were immeadiately alarmed when the coach pulled up. However off we got. The sun was just setting and was lovely. We had a studio room for two adults and two children plus a cot for the baby and there was plenty of room. The room was clean and tidy.
We were pleasently surprised at dinner time as the food was plentiful and a good variety, however after two weeks the variety was much the same daily!. Our first week passed by ok, the other guests were friendly and although the entertainers Rio and Nellie ( yes only two for day and night!!) were friendly the entertainment was very basic but the guests participated and all was well.
The second week and there was a large turnover of guests and everything changed. The bar staff were not as friendly, you could only order one drink each ( previous week not a problem), George at the snack bar was only allowed to give all inclusive guests small glasses so if you were thirsty you had to go up twice!!. The second week the entertainment in the evening was pretty dire to say the least. As the hotel was some way out and we were a family of five we didn't really want to be out all the time as it was expensive for all of us.
To cap it off the pool was closed three times the second week as somebody had pooed in the pool!!. The management was slow each time to react and it was the guests that informed each other what was happening.
The beach is not suitable for young children and there was no entertainment for children over eight - although Rio and Nellie did allow some children to join in the adult games.
Conclusion- some staff were friendly but hotel too far out and the management are more interested in making money than trying to keep guests happy. This is no way a four star and many guests were late bookers. The hotel obviously relies on this trade as many guests were not thinking of rebooking!!

Just returned from Eleni. This is our 2nd trip to Cyprus, so everything about this holiday was going to be a comparison. I must say overall I was pleasantly surprised. Upon reading some of the reviews prior to departing I was dreading it. The accommodation is good. However is only 3 star. Be warned you will need the air conditioners on constantly though if you go in July. There electricity to the apartment is switched on and off by depositing your room key, key fob into a slot near the front door. Hence you have to detach your key from your key fob if you want to keep the air conditioning running whilst you are out of the apartment (recommended) otherwise its like walking into an oven.

Maid service was efficient and seemed to come everyday, whether needed or not.

Food was nice, and the catering staff did try hard. However they didn't always get it quite right, as I don't think that even the Greek eat Cauliflower for breakfast? However my wife was in her element with choices of fruit and salad being plentiful, and fresh (really fresh, not the stuff you get at Asda and Tescos, at home)

There is an entertainments programme during both the day and night, run by Rio and Nellie, two rather hyperactive 20 some things. The daytime tends to be geared toward the male population, with Darts, Killer Pool, Table Tennis, Water Polo, Volleyball, Boules being on the agenda. The night time entertainment was very 'Butlins' with Bingo every night (tickets have to be purchased) followed by an act of some description. However after a few free cocktails it all seemed great.

Did notice that if you ordered drinks as an all inclusive guest they did seem to be lacking in comparison to those that were paid for (to be expected I suppose). Also bar staff didn't seem to keep on top off, or care if the gas had ran out and the drinks were flat.

Indoor pool, Gym and Sauna, should really be taken out of the description, as they were not used, and for good reason. Indoor pool smelled, Sauna was tiny and Gym room was locked (why I don't know) as it consisted of a couple of ancient machines. However outdoor pools more than made up for it.

Location is the main let down. It is a good distance from anywhere. You would have to be a pretty keen walker to attempt to walk to Paphos or Coral Bay, which are more or less equidistant. Car Hire is strongly recommended. However do not be fooled into Hiring from Reps (SIXT car Hire) as the car we got cost us twice the price it should have, (having compared prices after the event) and the car had seen better days. We were told by the rep that their cars were only one or two years old. This one was a 2002 model that had covered over 120,000 kms and looked like it had just completed the Dakar rally, however it did get us from A to B.

The resort itself is geared more towards families, and every other building seems to be a restaurant. The harbour is best place for shopping. Debenhams proving to be a hit. Coral Bay is the nearest sandy beach, but does get crowded.

Overall I wouldn't say the Eleni is the best accommodation in Paphos, but it certainly isn't the worst either.
