“Excellent holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2011

Just got back from Kefalos Beach today and can honestly say we enjoyed every minute of it. We opted for Bed and Breakfast and the food and choice was amazing. You could have a different breakfast every day, full english, cereal, toast, fruit, cold meats, cheeses, croissants, the list is endless.
Apartment was located close to the sea and the pool, and was very well maintained by the maids. Getting a sunbed was not really a major problem as the guests were mainly British or Dutch (no Germans...!) but you did have to be no later than about 7.45 or they were all gone round by the pool area. There was also an abundance of sunbeds on the grass and on the beach.
We ate at the 'Fish Restaurant' once and it was amazing. Beautiful views out to sea, although it is called Fish Restaurant there are meat dishes available and the prices are very reasonable.
Had lunch most days at the Pool Bar and the portions were massive. After a few days the four of us were sharing 2 meals!!
The whole complex is kept very clean and tidy, and is well set out.
Other restaurants we ate at were San Marino, Koh I Moor and an amazing evening at 'Fat Mamas'.

Room Tip: The sea view apartments would be fantastic.

We have just spent two glorious weeks at the Kefalos. The staff were so friendly and helpful from the minute we arrived. Geoff is always on hand to ferry your luggage and is a font of knowledge and great for a chat. We had two x studios which were spacious ,very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was very well equiped. The cleaners work really hard and maintenance fixed a broken mirror for us, within the hour. We were bed and breakfast and this was great. A huge variety of fruit, yoghurts, pastries, salads and meats, toast etc plus full hot english were available. Yes it was similar every day, but when they have almost everything you could possibly want, they could'nt improve on it. Staff in dining room very efficient at managing the huge numbers in for breakfast. We ate at the tavern on site twice and the food was very good. There are plenty of restarants on the main road, lots offering a 3 course meal for 12.95/13.95 euro. We thoroughly enjoyed Duomo, next to KFC, the San Marino and for a cheaper meal out try 'Tea for Two' which is great value for money and massive portions. The Irish pub was not such a good night as after 20 minutes, and the starters, they told us they didn't have all of our main meals left, or second choices so we had to leave after starter and they threw bill down on our table.
The beach in front of hotel is shingly and there are lots of rocks, however the hotel have put steps down, beyond the rocks so for older children/adults it is accessible. There are plently of grassed areas away from the buzz of the swimming pool area, with a good range of daytime activities for all ages, and also an indoor pool which is lovely to cool down in. However the indoor pool in un supervised and despite signs, I couldn't believe how many parents (mostly English) left their children in there, some as young as 4 or 5 with only a 9/10 year old to look after them. Shame on you. We didn't have any problems getting a bed on the grass at around 9 ish. The bus service is very efficient and you can get an all day pass for 2 euro. The buses goes to the harbour, market or coral and corralia beach (lovely and sandy, ideal for the little ones).
Finally, we went with Thomson, who were great from start to finish. Gary, the rep in hotel was excellent.
A lovely hotel and we can't wait to go back.

Absoloutley brilliant holiday this year, most definitley recommend this hotel. Best holiday my family and I have had in years. The food in the hotel was beautiful, as well as the restaurants only a 5 minute walk from the complex. Rooms were immaculate, as well as all staff being extremely pleasant and friendly. My family and I had a room with a sea view, and thankfully we had to take about 10 steps straight from our room and end up on the beach, which was absolutley perfect. All entertainers were fab with the kids and made me want to get up and dance to chocco latte! The hotel is also perfect for the fact it is peaceful and quite on the seafront but only a 5 minute drive to 'barstreet' where it is loud and lively for the young ones. Honestly couldnt ask for a much better holiday. It was perfect and i highly reccomend it to people of all ages. See you next year Kefalos!

Room Tip: Sea front rooms are definitley worth the extra money i would say

Just returned yesterday (13.8.11) from the Kefalos Beach Holiday Village. Our stay was wonderful. We booked through Thomson for a sea view room which unfortunately wasn't ready when we arrived at 10 pm, however I didn't moan, I was disappointed that we would have to wait till lunch time the next day to properly move into our seaview room. The management were very apologetic and offered us voucher for a free meal whatever evening we wanted as we were bed and breakfast.
We used this up the following Saturday when it was a bbq by the sea. My goodness the food that night was gorgeous.
The rooms were clean, tidy and the maids came every day.
The breakfasts were enormous with. Choice of many different things, hot, cold, fruit, bread, cake, cheese, olives, cereal.he list was endless. My son who is 8 couldn't wait to get up in the morning for breakfast!
Although you were not supposed to reserve sun beds everyone did, if you didn't you would struggle to find a sunbed. I did get up early one morning to see from the balcony that towels were on some sunbeds as early as half six in the morning! I have to say that if you put your towels out around 8am you were fine. I did think some people were taking the Mickey a bit by saving beds then not occupying them till after lunch!
AJ,Ricco,Aliana and the entertainment team were marvelous. Their kids club rang along side the Thomson team in thoroughly entertaining young and old alike, day and night! Well done to them. Geoff was fantastic with his golf buggy right from the start of the holiday to the end. He is a gem.
I have to say a big thanks to our Thomson rep Gary who was fantastic, the whole team made our stay wonderful. We were so sad to leave yesterday.
Fasouri waterpark was well worth the trip, health and safety was paramount there, life guards at every station.
I cannot really find anything bad to say, any minor niggles were far outweighed by positives and the wonderful staff and reps.
Can see some people have moaned on the reviews, I would only disagree and tell them to go get a life and chill out.
I would definitely recommend Kefalos beach village and Thomson to anyone who wants sun, sea, sand, fun, and fantastic people who work so hard to make your holiday a special one.

I have just spent 2 weeks at the Kefalos village with mother aged 65 and 2 children 7 and 9yrs.
Good points
Hotel Clean
Thomson kids club fantastic
Hotel entertainment for kids fantastic
Evening meal salad bar was delicous
Pool clean
Staff friendly

Bad Points
Half board
Breakfast was the same everyday and got really fed up with this
Evening main meal was like school dinners, fish (which we both love) was revolting and everything was overcooked: fish, vegetables, chicken. 2nd week was same as first week.
I don't normally travel in the height of the season and have never had to get up at 7.30 every morning to ensure I got a sunbed for the day but I did at this hotel. By 8am there is no chance of finding a spare sunbed, we searched along the beach, on the grass and by the pool. You have to get up early and put a towel down, and the brits were as bad as the Germans!
Don't get sunbed near the bar area as the music is very loud and you can't enjoy a read, we did ask them to turn it down but were told to move sunbeds, which is impossible when there aren't any left.
The beach is ok if you want to sit and look out to sea and enjoy a book but a nightmare if you want to go for a swim as there are very slippery rocks when entering the water so kids didn't go in. There is also quite a bit of clay which the kids got on their clothes which we had to throw in the bin. The sand is mixed with shingles. The opposite end of the beach away from the clay, we found glass, fishing hooks and other rubbish such as chair cushions, tin cans.

Evening entertainment:
Kids disco is great, they loved it
Adult entertainment is so bad I'm not even going to bother to go through it, although the Scottish magic entertainer was very funny with lots of adult humour thrown in.

Overall
We were really excited about our holiday and spent £5000 for the 2 weeks, the kids were happy, but are easily pleased, us adults were so disappointed and wished we had spent our money on a different resort.

Holiday tip if you've already booked:
If you go to the waterpark, buy water shoes otherwise you'll be hoping around on the scorching floor.
Go to the 5 star hotel (Elsyeum) for an evening buffet meal, it's to die for. Its a 5 minute walk from Kefalos along the beach to the right. 40 euros for adults and 20 for kids.
Take your own pillows, theirs are like rocks and they don't have any others!

Room Tip: We were glad we booked the sea view, as it was lovely to go on the balcony in the morning
