“super location”

Cynthiana Beach Hotel

I went out of peak season, (mid April). The hotel location is super, staff were excellent, room was great. I had a beautiful view over the sea. There was tea making facilities and hairdryer. You could walk to a few taverns for food and drink, but a car would be a good idea, as the main bit of Paphos is a fair journey away. I chose this place to be away from young rowdy holiday makers. There was some kind of childrens club, but I never paid much attention to that. There was an indoor pool where you could start to learn to dive and then proceed to the sea. The gym was a bit of a joke, but useable. There was a bar on the beach and plenty of sun loungers, and a shower to get the sand off you. Or you could lounge around the outdoor pool, which was simple but ideal for a swim to get out of the heat. The breakfast was varied and buffet style and you could eat out on the patio area in the morning and watch the sea while you ate. The hotel was clean and staff were plentyful. I would recommend this hotel if you are wanting to sight see in the day and then have a lazy day or two around the pool in peace. I would return. There was evening entertainment (greek dancing - or a live band etc...) and there was internet access in the lobby, there was also a volley ball net set up on the grass to the side in the shade and a pool table/table tennis/.....

Just returned from a week at the Cynthiana and I cant speak highly enough of it. We wanted a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle with good food, sun and friendly people.. and we got just that. We booked through Thomsons because booking independently the flights were far too expensive for the week we wanted plus we got a good deal with Thomsons too. We had booked half board, a superior room and ours certainly was. We were on the top floor of the main building looking right over the sea with views to die for, (see pics). Room was large, clean and well looked after..only criticism was that the fridge was room temperature til wednesday. Towels changed daily and bedding every 2 days. We found the food to be very good with plenty of variation... different themes every night, and it was well cooked. Unlike the previous poster...if we'd wanted english food we'd have gone to Scarbrough. The dining room set out was strange but it wasnt a problem and we sat with different people and made new friends every night. Staff were really friendly and helpful, in particular Victoria the Animation girl who smiled and spoke to everyone. The bar was excellent and the staff were first class...happy hour 6 til 7..3euros 25 cents a pint of Keo at normal price. The pool area, beach and beach bar were spotless and never crowded, plenty of sunbeds even in the garden area. Indoor pool was popular with the kids probably cos the outdoor pool was freezing til the sun got onto it..I braved it everyday plus the lagoon warmed up by lunchtime. Only down I have is the equipment in the gym wants putting in a skip...its worn out and spoils the overall image of the hotel..but thats a minor gripe.
When we were there (19th to 25th April) there was a varied mix of ages and nationalities..which for us makes a holiday more interesting...as before, if you want a holiday with Brits..go to Butlins. If you go to the Cynthiana and want a unique underwater experience, check out Scott and his team at Undersea Walkers to the right of the beach. You wear a wetsuit, put on a helmet connected to an airline..this keeps the water out of the helmet and you walk underwater with the fishes..awesome. Check out the Magic Genie bar/restaurant at the top of the lane on the corner of the main road..so friendly and Andreas the boss has a laugh with everyone. Bus at the top of the lane on the main road takes you either way to Paphos market (no 11) or the harbour (15) and the other way to Coral Bay...all worth the trip at 1 euro 35 cents. We got off the bus to Paphos at the Tombs of the Kings and had a lovely walk round the tombs..its not Egypt standard but well worth the visit..go early before the tour buses arrive. I would recommend the Cynthiana to anyone..more so to visitors without children. The hotel is brilliant and the location is fantastic. I can see why people keep returning to it...we certainly will.

Cynthiana Beach Hotel

We have just returned from one week at the Cynthiana Beach. The hotel is in a beautiful position, you really need a car to appreciate Paphos. Go and see Andreas on the corner near the main road (reasonable prices and good cars - would not recommend booking through hotel). We arrived at hotel and asked if we had a nice view from our room, reception said yes - when we got to our room and opened the curtains we were met by a building site. We rang and complained and were given another room. Be aware that if you book a standard room (albeit it will say Garden View), I would say 99% of these rooms will face the car park and the building site (one side of the hotel looks that way, the other has stunning sea views - of course you have to pay extra for this).
The food is OK, breakfasts are a disappointment, if you like bacon and eggs you can forget it. OK for toast, croissants, cereals, bread, hot drinks. Cooked food is not that hot. Evening meals again are OK, some nights are better than others. We did not like the restaurant, lots of tables are pushed together and if busy you have to sit side by side with strangers.
The hotel itself and the rooms are very clean, we found the hotel staff friendly. Rooms are cleaned everyday.
There are a lot of French people. A French company has done a deal with the hotel and they occupy approx. 40 rooms every week until the end of the season. They are also on an all inclusive basis, so very annoying to see them enjoying free drinks etc. whilst you have to pay very expensive prices for yours, There is no facility to upgrade to this privilege for anyone else.
If you want a lunchtime snack, we would recommend Hollys, excellent burgers. There is also a Pasty Shop, go on to the main road and turn right, walk to the end of the shops and turn right, it is tucked away. They sell fresh cream cakes, hot pasties, rolls, etc. All English food. On the whole we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, and would recommend the hotel. The weather was beautiful every day whilst we were there.

Cynthiana Beach Hotel

Just got back from 2 weeks here and what a treat it was.
The hotel was always clean, as was our room.
The staff were always friendly and helpful.

The food was very good - always tasty and hot.
Always a good choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, breads and cakes, and cooked for breakfast.
Different themed nights for evening meal which offered some variety, but always a choice of 3 or 4 meats, fish, veg, potatos, rice, pasta etc., and then varying hot and cold deserts, jelly and ice cream for the kids, and cheese and biscuits.
And, with a table near the window, a glorious view over the bay and watching the sun set over the sea to top it off !

We had a family room, with plenty of space for a double bed, a single bed and a cot.
On the TV you can receive BBC1, ITV1 and Sky News.
Make sure you get a sea view as it is probably the best view we've ever had from our balcony, and listening to the waves crash against the rocks below every night is so relaxing !

No real beach here, but there are a couple of nice sandy beaches 5 minutes away by bus or car.

Unfortunately we didn't brave the outdoor pool - it was just too cold, but the kids loved the indoor one which was heated.

We hired a car - well worth while for convenience and to see some of the other lovely resorts and sights like Latchi, Lara Bay and the Troodos Mountains.

So overall a great time was had and we would definitely return.
Anyone who is due to holiday here soon is very lucky - you are in for a treat !

Just returned from a week at this hotel. Lovely location and pleasant grounds. Staff were polite and friendly and sorted a minor problem quickly when the TV in the room wasn't working. Very quiet and picturesque spot and a great place to compeletely relax in but if you fancy a change of scenery the nearby bus services to Paphos and Coral Bay are frequent and cheap although the last buses are soon after 5pm! However, taxis are not too expensive and are well regulated. If you haven't visited Cypus before it would be worth hiring a car or choosing some of the excursions, the one to Egypt is a fantastic and unforgettable day and well worth doing. Hotel was spotlessly clean and we made good use of the tennis courts and other facilities, equipment was in excellent condition; unlike other hotels where tennis raquets, gym equipment etc can be in a poor state of repair. The hotel shop is expensive, drinks are literally double the price of those in the supermarket five minutes walk away! We were on half board and have no complaints about the food which was fresh and had plenty of choice every evening and the hot and cold breakfasts offered the usual choices. The only negative in the restaraunt for us was that the table are mostly in rows and waiters show you to your table which can be very close to others (no more than a couple of inches apart). This layout feels a bit cramped and creates a lack of personal space to relax and converse in as guests at neighbouring tables cannot help but hear each others conversations which they may prefer not to! We have left feedback at the hotel about this as hotel photos show only the small number of tables that are not in rows. Entertainment is live most evenings and is what you would expect, pleasant and fine for relaxing to after a day in the sun but no more than that. On our last day as we went in reception to wait for the coach to the airport the receptionist put the coffee machine on so we could have a free cuppa and asked if he could get us a croissant or cereal to help wake us up (it was very early!). This generous gesture was typical of the personal attention provided by hotel staff. We would definitely go back to the Cynthiana Beach and recommend it for couples, mature travellers , those with children who don't feel the need for kiddie's reps, clubs etc but not for young and lively holidaymakers.
