We have not long returned from this hotel, and I would say that the hotel is above average if you are travelling as a couple, or with older children but it is far from ideal if you are travelling with a baby as we were. We had a nice time, don't get me wrong, but there is absolutely nowhere safe to put the baby down (if your baby can crawl etc) - the hotel is crying out for a small soft play area for babie to play.
There is a distinct lack of baby changing facilities in the hotel. There are only 2 changing tables available from all the public toilets, and this included the one at the poolside toilets which is not great. I should also add that the changing tables were only available in the ladies toilets - but this is not the 50's anymore, dad's change nappies too!
To add to this, there was no air-conditioning in the rooms at this time of year, even although it is still required. Our first night was completely unbearable due to the heat in the room. We were given a fan from reception thereafter, and whilst this helped a little, I don't think the aircon should have been switched off - we paid a lot of money for this holiday afterall.
Most of the staff were lovely, but there were a couple who were quite rude at times - if you're having a bad day, don't take it out on the customers! Have to give a special mention to the housemaids though who were exceptional and very friendly.
The food was good with plenty of choice for adults, but again, they do not cater for babies at all (not even Weetabix or similar from breakfast) - so we had to buy our own jars/baby porridge from the supermarket so she had something to eat.
All of the other guests at the hotel were very friendly, and I think this gives a false impression on the actual hotel - there are quite a few returning guests who may be blinkered somewhat in their reviews. I have stayed in 4 star hotels before, and this hotel didn't come close to those standards. I reckon 3 star would be correct.
One last thing - the animation staff were quite irritating and even the bar staff mentioned how childish a lot of their behaviour was.
