Our first visit to this hotel, and to Paphos. We also booked with Saga, like the previous reviewer, and arrived among the first guests after the refurbishment. Yes, we experienced teething problems, but the Management was unfailingly helpful and attentive and the completion work was continuing day and night (but quietly and unobtrusively!). It is an excellent hotel, with lovely staff, good food, and a superb position just a delightful stroll from Paphos harbour.

My only criticism was that the newly decorated bar is surprisingly minimalist and discomforting compared with the rest of the hotel, with entertainment that was too loud, light-flashing and obtrusive for my taste - but as the weather warms up you should be able to escape outside for peaceful conversation. We fully intend to go back for another winter visit sometime.

We booked this hotel on recommendation from other people with Saga for my husbands 60th birthday. We were informed by Saga only a few days before departure that due to strikes the hotel would not be ready for the first 5 days so got up in an hotel in Limosol. When we got the Alexander the great there was no water & when the water did come on there was no hot water so had to boiler a kettle to have a wash. We were told by the Saga rep we had to use our own lounge which resembled a 1960s working mans club we felt we were being treated like 2nd class citizens untill the lovely Ele(guest relations) stepped in and we were allowed to relax in the normal bar area just like the other guess's The hotel should not have been open to guess until it was complete. It was our 1st time with Saga & Cyprus so will have to think twicw about using them again.

we have been going here for years on holiday - the hotel is lovely - the staff are very friendly - they remember you even if you haven't been there for a year ! lovely and clean - all staff caring from the lower level to management - swimming pools lovely - superb allocation of sundbeds and umbrellas - you pick where you want to be when you get there and that is your space for your holiday so none of this putting a towel on your bed, not that we did it but lots of people do to reserve your bed ! right near the sea however you do need to go down some steps to get there or a steep slope - indoor and outdoor swimming pool - also a jacuzzi and a gym - hairdresser on sight - shops opposite the hotel and all ammenities within easy access so all in all a perfect hotel and perfectly situated - my favourite hotel of all xx all rooms have air conditioning - you can eat at the hotel - we have breakfast and then go out for our meals as nice to go out to different restaurants - you can also have lunch too but if you have breakfast you dont really need lunch - some people are naughty and steal food from breakfast for lunch ! i find this naughty as its there for breakfast not for lunch ! but that's what people do x

Stayed at this hotel in May 2012. Lovely hotel very close to Paphos harbour. Food was great and staff fantastic. lovely managers cocktail party. If we go back to Cyprus will go back to Alexander the Great .
