“Very relaxing holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

This hotel was everything we thought it would be, small, quiet, basic and on the bus route. We have been to Cyprus many times doing hotels and villas, we where travelling as a couple so wanted something as a base. Helios didn't disappoint. Yes the rooms are basic but we didn't want 5 star. Credit to the cleaners our room was spotless likewise was the rest of the hotel. We got ourselves a weekly bus pass at 13euro excellent value. We found the pool fantastic never over busy plenty of loungers, we will go back.

Room Tip: 307.....perfect!

We come here every year now, twice. We love it. Spacious one bed apartments with newly refurbished bathrooms and flooring throughout. Always immaculately clean, good maid service daily. Balcony overlooking the sea. Lovely clean pool and sunbathing area. Nicely kept gardens. Cheap regular bus service but we pick up a car at the airport for the fortnight and use the big supermarket in town and travel around to various restaurants in the evening. Staff friendly as ever and bend over backwards to help you. Pool towels provided this year for first time at 1 euro each so will save packing our own next year.

Room Tip: Balcony overlooking the sea, 312 or 306 to see all the way up to Coral Bay as well.

Having stayed at Helios many many times we had another visit in May. As usual everyone at Helios was so very helpful, kind and attentive. This year the apartments have been refurbished to the highest standard with everything you could wish for a happy comfortable holiday with no fuss. Staff could not be better or more helpful, management are first class and so very welcoming. There is a first class bus service right outside t.o take you anywhere for 3 euros all day. Views from the hotel are to die for.. All in all just the best place to stay. Look forward to next time.

The Helios might not be in the thick of things, there's no lift if your on the first or second floor so carry your own case, there is no great breakfast buffet you find in bigger hotels, there's not a huge choice of eateries around you and the local supermarket is probably the most expensive in Cyprus. But if you want honest clean basic accommodation without the hotel frills and you don't mind using the local bus service to travel, then this is for you and on that basis must be rated a 5star.

Room Tip: We had room 312, this had an excellent sea view with plenty of living space. It also had one of the...

We spent 3 nights in Helios Bay. We were staying in a studio. The staff is very good, especially girl at the reception desk was very helpful. Our room was clean and spacious. Wi-fi works in a lobby only. Hotel is located just a few steps from the sea and it offers great views not only from rooms, but also from the area of the swimming pool. Just next to the hotel there is a bus stop and buses go every 10 minutes. Also, just next to the hotel there are at least 3 great restaurants (Sienna, New Horizon and Poppadoms). There is a gym to guests disposal. The only thing we did not like were mosquitos in our room:( In general we had a good time in Helios Bay and would highly reccommend it!

We really enjoyed weekend at Cyprus. Hotel is fantastic situated, near the sea, with big swimming pool. Hotel service wa very helpful, bar and shop near reception desk is open 24 hours, so it's very convenient if you come to the hotel from airport after midnight.
I will go there once again ;)

The Helios is currently being prepared for the summer season. It is unfortunate that this has involved lots of maintenance work being done during our holiday. We found this intrusive but recognise that work needs to be done in preparation for the summer season. On our last day we were woken at 7.00am to the sound of drilling ,banging and hammering .I phoned reception but no answer. I spoke to the workman directly and he apologised, however I do feel that more consideration should have been shown. The pool area was being refreshed and the wooden roof above the snack bar was being stained and varnished and rotten wood replaced. The smell of the varnish was not pleasant and limited our time which we spent around the pool. The pool filtration system is the noisiest that I have ever heard. The water gurgles and slurps throughout the day and night and could be heard in our third floor room. The beach to the right of the hotel is neglected and unusable.Debris is strewn across the whole area.It is a disgrace, such a shame.
We stayed in a one bedroomed apartment with sea view. The room was basic but clean.Cooking facilities are basic but adequate.Don't forget tea cloths, dishcloths, washing up liquid etc as these are not provided. The 2 electric rings take some time to heat up so don't be in a rush!
We enjoyed meals at Poppodums which is an Indian restaurant across the road from the hotel. The Sienna restaurant next to the hotel was superb, great service and beautifully presented food which tasted just as good.We ate once at Theo's near the harbour in Paphos which was ok but we were disappointed with the size of the sea bass served in comparison with the sea bass that we were shown in the outdoor refrigerated display cabinet.
Bus service is good and inexpensive. There are bus stops outside the hotel which will take you to Paphos or Coral Bay.We went to Coral Bay and were very disappointed. We find the beaches in the Algarve much more picturesque and appealing.
We did not have any problems with using credit or debit cards and ATM's were all usable.
