“Potters bowls tournament at Athena beach hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2014

From the moment we arrived porters and staff were on hand to assist. The hotel lobby entrance looks outstanding . Different food choices everyday. As a bowls group they were very accommodating and set out the table for 12 everyday for us to eat together. Daniel and his team made us feel very special. Plenty of activities and outdoor bars/eateries to enjoy and sun beds, umbrellas for resting. My only criticism was the jacuzzi and outdoor pool was very cold. Would have loved to have a dip, the swimming pools are beautifully designed with amble sun beds and umbrellas. You also have to pay for the WIFI . A brilliant venue for the bowls tournament. 3 outdoor rinks and bowls coordinators organising different fun games to play and join in. The surface is indoor carpet. Buses and taxi's always available to visit the town and market.

Stayed here for 1 week and was extremely impressed with both service and hospitality from all the staff . You really feel a very valued guest from the moment you set foot in the Hotel. Everyone is genuinely helpful and friendly without exception. This was typified with the lunchtime chef in the Leda restaurant(Adonis) making us Moussaka one day, despite it not being on the menu at all-excellent service .
We had a superior room which was quite spacious with a great sea view, beds are quite comfortable and room was very clean.
These rooms offer dining in the al a carte restaurant which i would recommend because if you do not order from the menu at dinner, you can take the self service option but still eat it in that restaurant(Zephyr).
Food here is really good and the breakfasts in the Zephyr restaurant are excellent and very relaxed and where they will cook anything to order.
The Hotel has spacious grounds which are extremely well kept with very nice flower beds everywhere, swimming pool's looked excellent but too cold to try this time, however the indoor heated pool was very good. Only downside is that the beach in front of Hotel is not so good.
The Spa has had major revamp and superior room guests can take a sauna or steam room session for free, all one has to do is book a time slot.
The Hotel does have Spa offers on throughout the season and the Spa area looks very good, we just used the sauna/steam room so cannot comment on any treatments.
A walk into Paphos from here is quite easy with decent paths pretty much all the way, or one can catch the bus directly outside.
All in all would thoroughly recommend for relaxing holiday with excellent food, hospitality and service, which is all but 5 star.

Everything about the holiday was just perfect. Hotel was 1st class and the staff were so friendly couldnt do enough for you. Super beach side location and plenty of spare sunbeds. Staff were in the grounds to move sunbeds, erect your sun umbrellas immediatly you sat down.Free flavoured water in the entrance. Food excellent and never too busy, plenty of room. Bus stop outside the hotel one euro 50 everywhere. Lovely quaint market in the town. Only downside you had to pay for wifi even to use the tablet.

Room Tip: Aim for 2nd floor most rooms get sun part of the day

Just back from our 5th visit to the Athena Beach. Weather was a bit mixed this March but managed to sit outside every day. The Hotel has been upgrading some of the restaurants and also some rooms. We stayed in room 337 a mountain view room and had no trouble being this side of the Hotel and no traffic noise heard. Food was still excellent staff always friendly and helpful and I tried out the wifi this time at 3 euros a day (only on one item) which was quite good some rooms get the wifi free. Hopefully Athena Beach will match the Royal and Pioneer who get free wifi now (in this day and age a must for travellers).
There is no shortage of sunbeds and umbrellas at this Hotel and a very wide area to choose where to sit either round 2 outdoor swimming pools a huge grass area or on the small beach.
Entertainment was still good and Anastazio is on 4 nights a week and has a very relaxed way of singing which you could listen to all evening.
Several Bowls groups stay at this Hotel in March and November.
The bus into Paphos leaves right outside the Hotel entrance and costs only 1.50 euros each way. I did notice that quite a few places remain closed in Paphos but as it was very early in the season perhaps some might open up again.
My thanks to all the staff for making our holiday once again relaxing and will certainly go back again. They need to sort the tv service out as Sky Sports One was without sound a lot of the time then they lost it completely and I like to watch some sport when I am on holiday
We booked with Dunwood Travel and flew with Easy Jet and were very pleased with the service by both companies.

Room Tip: Watch you don't get a room near generator towers as these are noisy with a constant humming nois...

I planned this holiday to get some sun with my aging father in late March and was hoping for a little comfort. This hotel provided an abundance of comfort and kindness and support - a truly outstanding experience from our arrival to our departure. Only 20ish minutes from Paphos airport, the hotel was beautiful from the outset and had recently been refurbished. Check in was quick and the staff so courteous. We upgraded out room to a sea view from a partial sea view and it quick and easy. The standard rooms are spacious with good balconies. And the mattresses are amazing - I even took a note of their make to see if I could get one myself. The food on offer in the various restaurants was outstanding from breakfast to dinner. The pools were gorgeous and there was always loungers free in the sun and the shade and by the beach - which was literally a stones throw from the hotel. With only a 30 min walk to Paphos harbour or a 5 min bus trip, it gave an opportunity for me and my dad to visit the town and the historic parts without too much hassle.
Overall I would highly recommend this hotel for those who need a little more support, my father thoroughly enjoyed himself and the staff just went out of their way to make up feel at home.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are south facing so benefit from sun and the breeze. Definitely worth the extra!

This was our first visit here, on a walking holiday, and we were very impressed. Though larger than many hotels we have stayed in, it managed to feel very friendly. This is all down to the staff, who are efficient, helpful, enthusiastic and smiling. There are also a lot of them! Reception always seemed to have at least 4 behind the desk, The bar and dining room staff were excellent. The hotel, grounds and pool were maintained beautifully and the standard of food was very good, with a huge variety of food on offer. For those who want activities and entertainment, it's there, but it doesn't intrude on those who don't want it. The happy hour before dinner ws justifiably popular. The situation facing the beach is excellent and it was a pleasant 25 minute walk along the path into the harbour. We would certainly choose to stay here again if we return to Paphos.
My only complaint is having to pay for wifi!

another fabulous stay at this hotel and will be back again next year caught 612 bus from airport
1.5 euros pp stops out side hotel our friends went for the taxi 30 euros we got to the recepsion
before them. The only grumble is the wifi costs and the connection is not very good, and the television as not got many english channels went to near bar to watch football and rugby on the
bbc, itv , along with everybody else. I think the hotel will soon rectifiey this because they are
loosing money.

Room Tip: sea view rooms worth the extra go to the fish restraunte a cross the road
