4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

My Wife and I stayed at the Azia for a couple of days before heading back to UK. Whilst the Hotel itself could do with updating, overall we enjoyed the experience. We particularly enjoyed the evening meal, which was held outside in a very nice setting. Whilst our stay coincided with a local holiday, so the Hotel was very busy, plenty of staff ensured that the level of service did not suffer. Overall - very impressed.

We went to Azia Hotel 3 weeks ago for a long weekend. It was an event organised from work so we didn't pay anything. The room we were given, would be quite comfortable for two persons. but we are a family of four, and the sleeping arrangements for the kids were a bit poor. There was a sofa bed and another portable one which was not stable at all. Our one child slept with us, so we didn't have to use the extra bed, because I would be up all night worried when the bed would collapse. The good thing was that our room was ground floor, with a veranda facing west. The veranda had a small table with 2 chairs and 2 sunbeds with an umbrella, which was nice. It was half board, so we had breakfast and dinner at the hotel, which were both average. The thing that always amazes me is why is it so hard for hotels to serve good quality and tasty food? One thing that was irritating both at breakfast and dinner were the waiters, they would come at our table so many times asking if we were finished, we had to fight to protect our plates.
Now the surrounding area of the hotel, is a different story. Very nice gardens with flowers, grass, trees, lots of space for the kids to run around, and the pool is very nice too. The weather was very nice that weekend we couldn't resist a swim in the pool.

Room Tip: If you have kids it's better to choose a room on ground level. The veranda door opens to the hot...

Azia hotel is located in a very beautiful quiet area, with mountains at front, sea behind. the hotel deserves its 5 star status,.My wife and I have stayed there seven times during the past thirteen years. The staff are so helpful and cheerful,in every department, nothing is too much trouble. there are few bars and restaurants near, special recommendation Kaspari fish taverna, family run business for over twenty years, one of the brothers is a fisherman so the fish served was caught the previous day, and its a friendly authentic Cypriot atmosphere. Avoid New Horizon bar as staff are rude and are only interested in beer drinking football louts watching tv from every wall in the bar.Others worth visiting,Sienna, Caravell and Costa Rica bar which is friendly and very reasonable.

Room Tip: ask for mounting room upgrade to sea view, amazing sunset, and still warm to sit on balcony whilst h...

Thank you to all at the Azia for yet another wonderful holiday. Although we normally visit in June, the September weather was equally good. The days are a little shorter and the sun less intense, though still hot. Evenings were a very comfortable temperature and generally we didn’t really need the air conditioning on during the night, so could have the balcony doors open and enjoy the sound of the sea.
Certainly more Eastern European staff this year – in fact it was difficult to use our few words of Greek, other than effusively greeting the lovely chambermaids who we see each year.
Very helpful and efficient Reception staff who, like the Spa girls, always seemed happy to have a chat if they weren’t too busy. Even when they were busy, they’d still be smiling.
We were delighted that Spyros, the F&B manager is still very much in evidence and has been making more improvements. He continues to work so hard and care so much. Nothing is too much trouble – a true professional. He has a very good team around him now with the new chef from last year keeping up the standard of food, though it’s a shame that all dinners are now buffets, but that seems to be the norm everywhere. There is a different theme each evening and always a very good selection so certainly something to suit all tastes. His new waiting and bar staff were all friendly and smiling, and interesting young people. We were particularly impressed at how well they all worked together; they were attentive to every guest, no matter if in their own section or not. Good to see Mitch and Vlad still ably looking after the bar and pool bar – the place wouldn’t be the same without them.
The hotel hosted various groups and conferences while we were there. Although this sounded rather daunting, it worked out extremely well for us, the holiday-makers. During the day these people would be conducting their business in the conference room or often out on trips. That left the pool and gardens extremely peaceful, which is one of the main things which we love about the Azia. Then in the evenings it was lovely to see the amphitheatre and terrace full of people enjoying dinner. It’s a magical setting and creates a wonderful atmosphere.
The hotel still remains our idyllic retreat. Peaceful and relaxing during the day lazing in the gardens or around the pool. A snack lunch which could be taken at your sunbed but we prefer to walk the few steps to eat by pool bar. Obviously this had to include 'a glass’ of local wine thus inducing a snooze in the afternoon and probably a dip in the beautiful pool. Then dressing up to enjoy a cocktail on the terrace outside the Cava bar before sitting under the trees or around the amphitheatre for a leisurely dinner beneath the stars. All this followed by coffee and perhaps just one last drink before bed. What a life!

We both had a wonderful holiday, a truly excellent hotel!

But when i booked online I was not sure what room type to book, and after a little research I decided to go for a Club and Spa Room. It was definitely the best decision as with only a bit more money (and it is indeed a small difference of a few euros a day), you get a much more beautiful room, elegant with stone floors and space. We had actually booked a club room with Garden and Sea view (which was very nice) and on arrival, we asked to see the Club and Spa Junior suite and the Club and Spa bungalow with Garden.

We ended up moving to the one at the bungalow as the gardens outside are beyond belief: beautiful grass, palmtrees, sunbeds, quiet ...and what a sunset right in front....a real dream! The Club and Spa junior Suite was very pretty too, bigger and with a fantastic view of the gardens and the sea and very peaceful...still the gardens were so amazing that the bungalow with garden was the best choice we took.

Stay in the Club and Spa aslo meant we could use the very quiet Club and Spa lounge, borrow dvds and could also have tea and biscuits in the lounge in the afteroons. The Club and Spa Lounge has a nice small breakfast too unitl 11 and was perfect to take a cup of coffee while lazily going through my emails on the wifi, sitting on that terrace (a very reliable and fast wifi everywhere especially in that lounge)

The rest of the hotel:

The staff outstanding, polite, smiling and ready to serve and help. The food excellent especially in the evening. The pool, stunning views looooots of palmtrees to sit under and loooots of space...a paradise. The walk that everyone talks about is indeed as long as you wish it to be, along the seafront, mostly peaceful except for the occasioanl other hotel, a really beautiful area to walk around or jog.

The best parts for me were the lobby and the Spa. The Spa girls are so sweet and extrememly knowledgable. I have tried more than 20 spas all around the world , many in more expensive hotels and city spas than the Azia Resort, and yet this was by far the best... 5 stars for service, 5 stars for the quality of training and atmosphere they created and 5 stars for the results, my bad leg was cured!! and that lasted for weeks after my departure from Cyprus. All the exercises the doctors have me do never have such lasting results.

Overall a truly fantastic, well maintained hotel and an experience we are hoping to repeat very soon.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A small hotel may have all the charm in the world, yet what the discerning guest will sometimes miss is the variety of experience to make the holiday an unforgettable pleasure. This is the thinking behind the concept of the Azia Resort, a foray into sophisticated escapism that offers stylish barefoot living, understated luxury and casual unobtrusive service. Built as three sections, with plethora of magnificent spaces for carefree living, the Azia Resort has all the diversity to keep its guests contented for a week or longer. Each element of the three-in-one boutique hotel concept has its own character and fulfills different aspirations of the visitor. The Azia Blue is about sophisticated, spacious living and family luxury. The Azia Club and Spa is ideal for privacy and indulgence. The Residence is a haven of individual pampering and innovative style. The Azia Resort is situated a few kilometres from Paphos centre and is privileged to share close proximity to the finest locations and treasures of the island. One of the few resorts with a west-facing outlook, the Azia provides guests with a sublime view of blazing indescribable sunsets. The sophisticated design of the hotel owes as much to edgy London design as to local influences. The result an atmosphere that is sensuous yet earthy, shaped by the whole history of Cyprus and by the natural beauty of the island. The nature is suggested, for instance, by such details as the use of flower and leaf motifs carved on wood and stone as well as by the profusion of indoor and outdoor plantings. The history is present in a slick, fusion manner combining very earthy and artistic elements. Each area is influenced by a different chapter of the Cyprus history. Venetian Murano glass, hand painted silk and gold leaf decoration of the main dining room represent the impact of the Venetian Republic on the history of the island, while the main lobby has the airiness suggestive of the open spaces of the agora of ancient Greece. There the pebble, the marble, the greenery and the abundance of light combine perfectly with loungy loveseats and design furniture. The staircase banister looks like seaweeds moving with the waves and the piano lobby bar is a beautiful reminder of the colonial influence. The main bar, in deep sensuous colours, with finely carved wood lace on the walls and hand-wrought iron lamp structures, captures the fusion of Arab cultures on the island. The sybaritic Asphodel Spa is a hymn to nature, intriguing to the senses yet calming to the mind. The sound of falling water, the fine incense of ouzo and anise, the breeze in the garden treatment rooms, the rich natural textures; these and a variety of treatments offering different experiences have been deployed in its design to awake all the senses and sooth the body and mind. This is one of the best spas in the world, a space that can keep the visitor content day after day. The symbol of the hotel is the Asphodel, the immortal flower in the ancient Greek mythology. According to the ancient Greeks, it stands for the ultimate happiness of the soul and was the first sight a soul longed to see at the gates of paradise. Asphodel still grows in abundance wild on the island. ... more   less
