I visited Imogen’s Inn Taverna in Kathikas village near Paphos for lunch as part of a family group of 6 adults in April 2010. We parked in the centre of the village near the church, just a few strides away from the restaurant, but I believe they have their own parking nearby.
We did not have a reservation but there was plenty of room for us. We were warmly welcomed into the restaurant garden where several tables were set up. The children were also made welcome. A table was swiftly arranged for us in a tent for shade. In retrospect it would have been better (cooler and more space) to eat inside the main restaurant, which was empty.
After placing our orders the food came quickly. We ordered 2 vegetarian mezzes, 2 meat mezzes, a mixed grill and one other dish (sorry I have forgotten what it was). The mezzes were amazing and this was the only place in Cyprus where I was able to get a vegetarian mezze. There was dish after dish presented on the table for the mezze and we lost count as to how many dishes we had. It was sometimes it was not clear whether it was for the vegetarians only or for the meat eaters it was always clear if the food was suitable for us vegetarians. The only item I was unimpressed with was the moussaka which I had much tastier examples in other restaurants. We had declined the taramosalata (and could not understand why it was on the vegetarian menu in the first place). One of my favourite dishes was the beetroot. We though the chips (French fries) unnecessary and certainly not needed near the end of the mezze dishes.
The house wine was nice, served in a carafe and we had several bottles of water. It also took a long time to consume our meal (at least two hours). Several of the group got a bit too hot although it had not seemed that hot when we arrived. As I mentioned above we’d probably have been better off inside. Also there was a party at the next table where people were smoking while we were eating which was very unpleasant.
I would definitely recommend the vegetarian mezze here. The rest of the party also enjoyed their food. The vegetarian mezze was the same price as the meat mezze which was a bit surprising ( 15 EUR I think it was).
It was by far the best vegetarian meal I had in a restaurant in Cyprus, where for over 2 weeks I lived on salad and cheese.
