After using this restaurant for many many years I am sad to say that it will be a longtime before we try it again . We booked a table for my husbands birthday which was a special one , we had considered going to the Annabelle or Amatheus for the meal but thought that Gabors would have a nicer atmosphere for the occasion. We got there and it was obvious that they were very busy as they had a very large table of diners, as well as all the other tables being full. We waited a long time before we were given menus, drinks took forever to order and to arrive at our table. We ordered after quite a wait , we had table booked for 9 o'clock as they said that it would be a better time for them so we were all quite hungry. We ordered, my husband and son ordering the Chateaubriand which is quite pricy but usually superb . So you cam imagine the dissapointment when it was served and it was tough, chewy and not a good taste so consequently was not eaten The starters were good as always, the poor service was due to bad staffing levels as they all tried their best and then the disappointment of the steak , we felt very dis-satisfied, we didn't want to spoil our night out so our son just quietly voiced his opinion of the meal and he was told that his comments would be passed onto the chef. On paying the bill we were told that the coffees and desserts were on the house, only two of us had coffee and one dessert , crepe-suzette which is for sharing between two , these were also a major disappointed , as one of the main reason we chose Gabors for our night out , was that my husband adores these but not so this night, they were far from their usual standard. So after the amount of money we had spent on food, wine and spirits . we felt that a couple of coffees and a pancake was not really appropriate as a special occasion was. spoilt. , luckily enough we were able to do it again the next night in another restaurant and had a superb meal,.
