“Maybe an off night?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

We went here for the fish meze which has rave reviews on Tripadvisor.

First of all the welcome was friendly and efficient.

We started the Meze with a number of cold dishes which were the standard fare - octopus wasn't great just tasted of vinegar and crab sticks worried us that the fish meze may contain the best quality food.

We then started receiving the hot courses - sardines first which were nice but then down hill from there.

The squid was the toughest we had ever had, we couldn't even cut through it with the knife provided, then came what could be described as cheap party food, a prawn in filo, a prawn in breadcrumbs, a "crab claw" that was like a cheap fish cake then a bit of fish fried and some chicken for some reason. The quality just came across as cheap more akin to what you'd get from a UK freezer chain at Christmas. Again maybe a bad night as this went against the reviews listed here, we actually didn't want any more food and asked for the bill which we think may have confused the staff as they asked us if we were full - we just said we didn't want any more food.

It's a shame as we had high expectations and the waiting staff were friendly but we cannot recommend based on our meal. A couple behind us tried for a while to get the sweet menu but resorted to borrowing it from another table...

You can see from my other reviews that I am not a harsh reviewer and was truly disappointed with the experience. We've had Meze on many occasions and unfortunately this wasn't very good in our opinion.

“Definitely the best food in Paphos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012 via mobile

We visited the windmill restaurant after reading the great reviews.
It is a small family run restaurant, the hospitality and service is excellent! The family are the most friendly, welcoming and generous hosts.
The food is all home cooked using fresh ingredients and it is delicious! We had a mixed meze the previous evening before visiting the windmill and we was not impressed, we was reluctant to try a meze again but after the great reviews we had read we tried the windmill mixed meze OMG it was gorgeous!! It was full of flavour and Cooked perfectly!
We enjoyed our meal at the windmill that much that we returned for the following 2 evenings. All of our meals were beautifully cooked (the mousakka & baklava are amazing!) and the price was more than reasonable.
I would definitely recommend the windmill to everyone!

“Fantastic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

Nancy and her family are very welcoming and the food is great. Had a lovely filling meal. If anything there was too much for my husband and I. But it was well worth the visit.

We have eaten at this restaurant in previous years and we were not disappointed this time. An excellent choice on the menu, a la carte or set price meals. Good food, service and excellent prices.
