Description: It should be noticed that the establishment is a very traditional one, in more ways than appearance. It is an old building of stone and wood. The two dining rooms are decorated with antiques and items from the old household of rural Cyprus. The garden is very pleasant with flowers and herbs growing all around it. The food is traditional and seasonal. We cook everything that can grow in Cyprus, basing a lot of our food on traditional dishes, and wild vegetables, picked by ourselves. We serve Meze, which traditionally means delicate taste, and in Cyprus it is used to mean a variety of delicacies. A typical meze at the 7 St Georges will start with salad and between 6-10 appetizers, this will differ every night but may include, homegrown olives, cured meats, dips and pickles. The meze will continue with a variety of traditional and some times contemporary meat and vegetable dishes. We use only the best meats to provide mouthwatering roasts and succulent casseroles, you can expect to enjoy our now well known Kleftico (lamb or beef on the bone cooked in sealed ovens, succulent) and a vegetarians delight of vegetable dishes, depending on the season they will include, rice stuffed marrow flowers, bumyas (ochra) cooked in a tomato and mint sauce, black eyed beans with home grown marrow, tomato fritters, cheese and vegetable pies. The meze will be about 20 dishes, depending how much one can eat, expect to be surprised and delighted at the array of dishes that will be brought to you over the meal (expect to be eating for about 2 hours), at the 7 St Georges we serve quality food in an informal and comfortable setting, take your time and enjoy the experience.

“Lovely cypriot taverna”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014

We were really looking forward to some meze which we had never had before... we were not disappointed. Delicious tasty little dishes which seem to be never ending! The veggies were so tasty as were the most tender meat dishes. Very friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere!

“Nice restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

Friendly unrushed and fresh mese! The food was fresh and you just keep on eating until you are full and they stop bringing out any more. Each bit is small enough to make you feel stuffed and a pleasant way to have a relaxing evening...try it!

“An astounding journey through the flavours of Cyprus”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

At the recommendation of my partner we ventured out to find this restaurant after a day out in the Akamas Peninsula. A little bit off the beaten track, you should definitely have a map of Paphos or your GoogleMap ready to get to this little gem of a taverna. Having said that, once we arrived there we found the place heaving with tourists.

We only had just stepped into the restaurant premises, a beautiful outside seating area next to the restaurant gardens where almost all of the ingredients for the food are grown, were we greeted by the son of the owner, Ben. An extremely attentive, and attentive service is rare in Cyprus, he recognised my partner from his first visit to the place 3 years ago and guided us to our seating, readily available to explain how the Mezze works, taking note of special dietary requirements (I don't eat beef) and in general just being charming, endearing, friendly and most importantly, always helpful.

The food itself did not disappoint either: a wonderful Mezze journey through all that Cyprus has to offer: the vegetables were fresh, organic explosions of flavour in your mouth, the bread home baked, crunchy and soft all at the same time and the meats, tender, full of beautiful flavours that did not overpower, but complement each other. Special attention should be paid to the Lamb Tavas,an additional serving for me as I couldn't eat the beef dishes, the most beautiful meat I had tasted throughout my journey in Cyprus. Even my partner, a native to the isle had nothing but praise for it. Apparently even his grandma couldn't do it better ;).

“Very good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

Really good food. No menu - they just bring food until you say stop. My teenage sons loved that, so they made it to 5 meat courses. I'm vegetarian, so after the inital 8 meze dishes they brought something veggie with each meat course, and it was all very tasty. It's a bit out of the way, but the taxi didn't cost too much. The price was fine (about 90 Euros for 4, including drinks), and I'd definitely recommend it.

“Authentic, organic meze”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

The tavern is family run, brothers in kitchen and front of house and the Dad takes care of growing/sourcing produce.
It was explained the dishes would be brought out until we could eat no more. As there is no menu we were asked if we had any allergies and it was reassuring to know he understood my pepper allergy when he asked; "does this include paprika" - a first anywhere in the world!
We sat outside in a lovely courtyard, with vines growing overhead.
We had a carafe of both red and white homemade, organic wine which was lovely. The first dishes came: salad, olives, sour cream with coriander, beetroot, potato salad with dill, goats and sheeps cheese, cauliflower dip and carrot salad all served with fresh, hot crusty bread.
Then the hot dishes followed - aubergine cooked with lemon and coriander seeds I think, cauliflower and courgette in egg, soufflé style.
Then the meats came - beef stifado which was so tender it just fell apart on the fork.
Pork - melt in the mouth, served with an apricot jam. Rabbit, served with a dish of bulgar wheat. Lamb, served with basmati rice.
At this point we were full so asked the waiter to stop. Lovely meal served at a leisurely pace, spread over a few hours, and all for 17 euros each.
