Just returned from a stay at the Pafian Park Holiday Village.
The accommodation is located about 25 minutes from the airport, and is surrounded by privately owned villas and a few other complexes. Lots of wasteland on the surrounding areas.
Check in was a breeze. The reception staff had everything laid out ready for the quests. Managed to check in around six parties simultaneously.
We were assigned a room that was away from the pool area and overlooked the Garden and sea. Fantastic views at sunset. The room was consisted of a bed room and living room (with sofa bed) and was fairly basic, with an old wooden wardrobe, draws and tv cabinet. A fridge. crockery and kettle were all in good working order.
The living room had a patio door that lead onto decking. We had 4 plastic chairs, table, large parasol and two loungers. Spent most of our time in the garden area, dragging our loungers and parasol over. Found most loungers around the pool had been reserved by 8am despite signs saying management would remove towels if this was the case.
Meal times were organised well, and every night had a different theme. Oriental night was very good! Breakfast was cereal, yoghurts, fry up, or even freshly made omelettes. Lunch was usually another large choice of main meals and salads. All very good. Only beer and wine (and soft drinks) were served with dinner.
The one bar served a good selection of drinks. The beer in the AI option was Carlsberg, and locally produced Keo or Leon. Local rum, vodka, whisky as well as pre mixed cocktails (eg tequila sunrise, sex on the beach, gin fizz) were also included. All served in very small plastic cups, and adult guests can only get two drinks at a time.
There is another bar located in the garden area, but this remained closed during our stay.
The evening entertainment was usually a kids disco from 8.30 (with annoyingly catchy songs!), then either the in house entertainment staff (running a couples competition, mr pafian park etc), or a magician, parrot show, cabaret acts. We had a fun casino night where two croupier with a roulette and blackjack table were brought in. Most evenings, the acts had finished by 9/9.30 and then two games of bingo bongo were played at 10. Were amazed to find that was it. Entertainment had finished by 10.30. No disco, nothing.
Ended up bored one night after the entertainment, and got a cab down to Pathos. €10 cab ride and soon found the entertainment area. Had a great night in some bars with music.
Overall, a nice place to stay if you're not wanting/expecting much.
