We have just returned from our Sunday lunch at the Magic Teapot in Agios Georgios/Silikou, Limassol and now I cannot move - I'm so full!
An exceptional little place with a warren of hidden rooms in a very pretty village. When you see the Magic Teapot from the outside, you wonder at the complexity of the menus advertised on the website. No village taverna fayre here and with the presentation more akin to what you may find in one of the 5* beachfront hotel restaurants.
Sunday lunch can be 2 courses for €15 or 3 courses for €18 and as a meal is not a meal without a dessert, we chose the 3 course option. However, I could have done with sitting on a skateboard to be towed back to the car.
The menu today for me:
Chicken Liver Parfait with Smoked Duck Breast.
Roast Rib of Beef or Roast Chicken with pigs in blankets - served with roast potatoes, creamy mash, bashed neeps and carrots, peas, yorkshire pudding and gravy. IWe all had the beef).
There was also a fish dish for those non-meat eaters.
My choice of dessert was sticky toffee pudding with ice-cream.
There is a separate bar area which also serves a bar menu.
Friendly staff offer a warm welcome which doesn't just stop when your meal arrives.
All in all it was a "grand day out" as on the way back we took a detour around Kouris Dam stopping off for some obligatory photo shoots along the way.
Take some time out and make the trip up the Troodos road following the left turn to Monagri and then make your way into Agios Georgios. I swear you will not be disappointed.
