My friend and I returned from our holiday at the Tasiana Star yesterday and I jusy had to write a review after the slating this complex has had!! I was very worried after reading most of the reviews on here but after arriving late (we missed our flight) we were greeted by a cheery man at 1.00 a.m who showed us to our room then gave us a drink (on him) at the bar. His name was Riad and he is an absolute gem (as mentioned on this site by someone else) nothing is too much trouble. Our apartment was very clean, we had plenty of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils if we had wanted them but as we always do on a 'self-catering holiday' we ate out or in the apartments bar.
The maids emptied the bins and mopped the room every day (except Sunday) changed our bed-linen once and towels twice.
I don't know why people think towels and sheets should be changed every day - do they do that at home? If they do stop it and think of the environment!!
The apartments are less than 5 minutes walk from shops and bars, when we were there the weather was extremely hot (43) so we didn't walk to the beach but stayed around the pool most of the day, the pool area was clean and pleasant with lots of plants, the pool was lovely and clean also.
The menu has quite sufficient choice for snacks, meals and drinks and the freshly squeezed, sweet, Cyprus orange juice is to die for.
Our Rep Maggie was friendly, chatty and helpful and I don't understand why people say 'they never saw her again' cos she was in the bar/pool area most of the morning and again in the evening.
The only negative comment my friend and I have is the over zealous watering of the pool area (morning and evening) by the lady owner and the pool closing at 6 pm.
This is a family run small complex near the centre of the resort and we were so glad we stayed here rather than in one of the big hotels we picked people up from on days out who complained that they had to catch a bus to go anywhere, even to a bar or restaurant.
I enjoyed it so much that within hours of returning home I have now booked to return next year with my partner.
I think most people only usually bother to comment on sites like this when something isn't just right, as with anything else we get annoyed - we complain, we enjoy something - we relax and usually don't praise good service.

If you go to this complex you must make the most of it,the staff are friendly but the whole complex needs a refurb.Our towels were changed once in a week and bins emptied twice(including the toilet bin where your loo paper is supposed to be put,I flushed mine)The terrace was never brushed just hosed which in fact made it worse because of the leaves from the numerous plants,on the whole it is basic but liveable.Limassol and its people are wonderfull we loved it and would certainly return,but not to the Tasiana.

The room itself is basic I will agree, but self catering is only for the room. The pool was clean and pleasant swim after the day at the beach. The staff are warm and friendly. The complex is very close to all resteraunts and local shops. Bus stops are close by and for 80cents you can travel further up to new port area.
I would recommend the travel up to Big Ben resteraunt as the service and food are great. The Nags Head around the corner from the complex is a british pub that has a Dell Boy theme. The food wasn't that good there and more expensive and the service was poor. But if you want to be in a british bar its ok. The Old Shakespear is a British pub and it offers a better deal on food and drinks the staff are friendly and helpful.
Over all we knew we would use the complex as a base and it provided us with that. I would recommend that you pay for the air conditioning as it is very hot during the day and night, take bite spray with you to prevent any bites and plenty of sun tan lotion.
The area is easy to hire jeeps for the week and a trip to the water park (not to be missed) and travel further to Agia Napa to see a different side to Cyprus is a must. All signs are in English and they drive on the same side of the road. Money goes further you can get a 3 course meal for £6.95 sometimes includes a bottle of wine!
If you are wanting a 5 star experience do't go to this complex it is to be treated as a simple base, towels are changed 6 times a week beds made and rubbish taken 6 days a week.

First holiday together abroad. real looking forward to this one. had stayed at the tasiana apartments before so this is where I thought I was for the next week. Was told tasiana 1 - got there - wanted to go straight back to airport. Dirty grey looking scruffy complex. The room might as well have been on a main road. the smell of damp coming from the cupboard under the sink was disgusting and the shower was not fit to have a shower in it, taps still have toothpaste like marks on them, bed linen was dirty looking and towels looked like rags. Kettle had mould coming from the spout and the rest of the apartment is not worth mentioning. grass growing on the balcony, garden furniture looked as though it had not been cleaned for years. Called the Rep - "well it looks ok to me" she did not have to pay to stay there did she I told her. Asked her to move us - "I can not do that - very unhelpful - she left and that was the last we saw of her. Spoke to the manager who did move us the next day to a poolside apartment in another block but just the same apart from the location - hence we spent as little time as possible there - DONT GO is my sentiment.
